Northrup -- M.A. "Mert" Northrup, born in Iowa March 16, 1925, passed from this life on January 1, 2001, in his adopted home city of Yuma, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Dixie Northrup of Tres Piedras, NM, and leaves behind a loving family. three children, daughter, Linda and husband, Martin Stark of Placitas, NM, daughter, Lana and husband, Stephen Hartwell of Yuma, and son, T.K. Heston of Questa, NM; three grandchildren, Amy and husband, Michael Obney of Ft. Sheridan, IL, Ryan Stark of Placitas, and Jody and wife, Rhadona Stark of Albuquerque; three brothers, Everett, Harlan, and Marlan Northrup; and sister, Marilyn Burkhardt and their families. He also leaves numerous other family and friends, including special friend, Vernice Juker; his Masonic brothers, as well as many colleagues in the NM highway construction industry. A private cremation is being handled by Sunset Vista Funeral Home in Yuma. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Ave. Yuma, AZ 85634.
