Anaya -- Judge Martin Anaya, 93, a resident of Belen, passed away on August 2, 2001, at the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque. Martin was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he was an ambulance driver during the Normandy Invasion. Martin retired from the Belen Public Schools; and was a Justice of the Peace and Probate Judge in Belen for thirty years. He was a Charter member of the VFW Post 23 and Post 7; a District VFW Post Commander; President of the Belen Lions Club; member of the Belen Moose Lodge; he was also involved in many other organizations, civic and social groups over his long period of life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and six brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Carmen Sais and her husband, Joe of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Ruben and Lorraine Duran; Joe Sais; Vicki Sanchez; and Toni Ann DoDough; and his great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Andy; Serafin; Bobby; and Clarence; and many loving nieces; nephews; relatives; and close friends, Felix and Lorraine Jaramillo; and many others. A Viewing was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2001 with a Rosary following at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Belen with Interment following at the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Sais; Felix Jaramillo; Martin Anaya; David F Cargo; Richard Aragon; Judge Manuel Chavez; Alex Castillo; and Antonio Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Carrillo; Andy Anaya; Serafin Anaya; Ruben Duran; Bill Snodgrass; and Henry Anaya. Romero Funeral Home in Belen is in charge of arrangements.
