Blain -- Pauline "Pat" Blain. Funeral services for Pat Blain, 80, of Lubbock will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Westminister Presbyterian Chruch with the Rev. Dan Birchfield and Bruce Cotton, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. She died Friday, June 8, 2001 at her home. She was born June 23, 1920 in Stratford, CT. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1941 and contributed to the war effort during WWII by working for United Technologies, an airplane manufacturing company where she met her husband. She volunteered for US Navy and Air Force nursing duties but was denied because of her diminutive stature. She married Robert R. Blain on June 17, 1944, in Stratford, CT. She lived in Lubbock for 31 years before moving to Albuquerque, NM. She worked in nursing over the years retiring in 1990 after 18 years as school nurse with Idalou Independent Schools. She was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. Survivors include her husband, Robert R. Blain of Lubbock, TX; son, Matt Blain of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Barbara Fallon of Williamsburg, VA; sisters, Helen Varnish of Stratford, CT and Mary McCarty of CA; brother, John Klevecz; eight grandchildren. The family suggest memorials to Hospice of Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Resthaven.
