Parker -- Leonard Anthony Bowles Parker, a former Certified Public Accountant with Henderson & Black, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Smith Parker and step-daughter, LuAnn Smith O'Connell, both of Albuquerque; his step-grandson, Lieutenant John J. O'Connell of Fort Hood, Texas; a sister, Kathryn Mayeur; as well as two nieces, Diane Cutaia and Deborah Ward; and a nephew, R.L. Mayeur, all of Houston, Texas. Parker was born May 29, 1916, in Mart, McLennon County, Texas. He was a graduate of Rice University and received his masters degree from the University of Texas. He held the distinction of having been a 50 Year Member of both the Texas and New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants. In 1973, Parker was elected and served as President of the New Mexico Elks Association. An avid golfer and member of the Albuquerque Country Club, Parker was well respected for his philanthropic contributions. He gave generously throughout the years to such organizations as the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Red Cross, All Faiths Home, the Salvation Army, the Roadrunner Food Bank and the Animal Humane Association. The family has not planned services and asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Leonard Parker's memory be made to any of the above or to a charity of your choice. Leonard Parker was a loyal and caring friend and family member. His presence and generosity will be greatly missed.
