Newell -- Gaylord "Bill" Newell, 87, a resident of Albuquerque died Saturday, October 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Virginia Newell of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his daughters, Carol Ann Edwards and husband, Larry of Sherman, TX, Marilyn Peck of San Antonio, TX, and Gayle Jones and husband, Charlie of Albuquerque; special nephew, L. W. "Buck" Carlyle III and wife, Jean of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Keri Rostek and husband, Tom of Red Feather Lakes, CO, Dana Kaiser and husband, Gary of San Antonio, TX, Camille Gray and husband, Mike of Georgetown, TX, Clair Petelski and husband, Todd of Sherman, TX, Ryan Jones and Tori Jones, both of Albuquerque; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Virgina Winget and husband, Richard of Hereford, TX. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Newell and Orland"Bub" Newell; and sisters, Elaine Willoughby and Nadine Blanton. Mr. Newell was in the retail grocery business for over 40 years in Hereford, TX. He was a resident of Hereford for 80 years, where he served as a volunteer fireman. Mr. Newell was an avid sports fan, a much loved "Pe-Pa," a faithful friend, a fanatic spoiler of grandchildren, and was always in good humor. Memorial services will be Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 4710 Juan Tabo NE.
