Vargas -- Virginia Vargas, 76, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2001. She is survived by her children, Mercy Chavez and husband, Jacob, Daniel deVargas and wife, Lisa, all of Albuquerque, Stanley Vargas and wife, Paula of Oregon, Stephanie Popescu and husband, Ovi of California and Robert Vargas of Texas; grandchildren, Carol G. Wood and husband, Robert, Garrick Chavez, Ashlee, Alissa and Alex deVargas, Tristan, Christopher, Jamison and Erica Vargas and Laurentiu Popescu and the youngest grandchild, Gabriella Popescu; great-grandchildren, Michael Christopher Chavez, Skyler James and Devin Leigh Wood; and two brothers, Ruben Romero and wife, Bessie and Moises Romero and wife, Lillian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Vargas; daughter, Kathryn Yvonne; parents, Adelico and Andreaitta; brothers, Frederico, Ezeqiel, Frank, Arthur and Alex; sister, Lucia Romero Vigil. Prayer services will be held, Sunday, October 7, 2001, 7:00 p.m., at Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4920 Wyoming Blvd NE, with Pastor Wayne Gayton officiating. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor Wayne Gayton officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Tristan Vargas, Ashlee DeVargas, Erica Vargas, Garrick Chavez, Devin Wood and Donald Vigil. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol C. Wood, Alex DeVargas, Christopher Vargas and Michael Christopher Chavez. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
