Stromberg -- Thomas Daniel Stromberg, born May 5, 1953 in Albuquerque, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in a traffic accident in San Mateo, CA. Tom's charismatic personality brought spirit, creativity, adventure, and a sense of fun to both his family, and hundreds of devoted friends in San Mateo and San Francisco CA, and Seattle, WA. Tom leaves behind a distinguished career in Information Systems, most recently serving as CIO for Walmart.com. He held similar positions in banking and retail services, but more than anything, Tom was a totally dedicated family man. Tom leaves behind Louise, his beloved wife of 17 years; his sons, John and Michael; and his daughter, Katherine. No child was without a playmate if Tom was nearby, and the Stromberg home was a constant center of action, sports and play, always open to friends and visitors. Tom attended St. Pius X High School and the University of New Mexico. Tom is also survived by his parents, Patricia and Robert; sisters, Mary Ann and Marcella (Albuquerque); brother, Mark (Carmel Valley, CA), Peter and James (Albuquerque), Paul (Portland, OR); and numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers, Joseph and John preceded him in death. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, April 24, 2000, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Burlingame, CA. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte, with Father Jerry Plotkowski, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception will be held at the home of Jim and Cheri Stromberg. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Thompson -- Kathleen J. Thompson, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 25, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Donner and husband, Jack and Betty Bruskas and husband, Tom; granddaughter, Karen Britt and husband, Craig; grandsons, David Bruskas and wife, Kara, Bill Bruskas and wife, Buffy; nine great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. God used her mightily within her own family and her church family. Her family is forever grateful that she left them such a godly heritage. She faithfully served at First Presbyterian Church 50 years as a greeter, Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder. She is currently a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where her grandson, David leads an outreach ministry (Midtown Fellowship). Welch -- Clark Ethan Welch, age 70, passed away at his home in Elephant Butte, New Mexico on Sunday, April 23, 2000. Mr. Welch was born on February 17, 1930, in Clarksfield, Ohio, the son of Daniel Harry Welch and Lillie May (Bartow) Welch. A graduate of Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio; he also attended Bowling Green University and Kent State University in Ohio. A former resident of Albuquerque from 1969 to 1993, many will remember Mr. Welch was associated with the Warren School Supply from 1978 to 1985. He was an Educator in the Bernalillo Public School System, working at both the Algodones and the Placitas Schools for eight years. After his retirement as a teacher, Mr. Welch also worked for the NM Human Services Office in the Southeast Heights (on Williams St.) in Albuquerque from February, 1986 to September, 1992. Upon moving to Elephant Butte in 1993, Mr. Welch worked for the T or C Office of Human Services Office for three years, where he retired as Supervisor. He is survived by a sister, Cora Fortman of Amherst, OH; two nephews, Bob Fortman of Granbury, TX and Billy Fortman of Amherst, OH; and by his close friends, Dean and Ruth Mason, Louis Tonn and Jacques; his beloved Bichon-Frise of Elephant Butte. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of French Mortuary of T or C, Inc. (303) Cedar, T or C, NM), with Rev. Mike Holsten officiating. Wilkison -- Peggy McCormick Akin Wilkison was born October 22, 1939, in Hobbs, New Mexico, the 3rd child and 2nd daughter of Don McCormick and Dorothy Walker McCormick. Peggy died in her home on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000, after a brave and dignified battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, David Wilkison; and his mother, Mary Wilkison of the family home; and sons, Don (D.J.) Akin of Scottsdale, AZ and Scott Akin of Albuquerque, all of whom she was very proud. She is also survived by her former husband, Jackson G. Akin; her children by marriage, Emily Akin Sattler of Houston, TX, Stephan Akin of Dallas, TX, Laurie Wilkison of Arlington, VA and Jennie Wilkison of Denver, CO; her brother, Michael McCormick and wife, Wanda of McAllen, TX; her sisters, Mary Skavaril and husband, Russ of Columbus, OH, Maureen Ashley and husband, Everett of Tulsa, OK, Monica O'Reilly and husband, Mel and Margo McCormick and husband, Ranne Miller, all of Albuquerque; and step-mother, Dorothy Cox McCormick, also of Albuquerque. Peggy graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1957. She attended Creighton University, the University of New Mexico, and graduated from Gonzaga University. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle NE, Albuquerque, at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2000. Peggy was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was a generous and wonderful companion on the road of life to all who were privileged to know her. She will be sorely missed. Contributions in her memory may be made to the All Faiths Receiving Home.

Arguello -- Joe Arguello, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952 died, Monday, April 25, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Trinidad Arguello of the family home; six children, David Quintana and wife, Dora of Las Vegas, NM, Joseph Jones of Albuquerque, Isabel Folwell and husband, Henry of Williamsburg, KY, Lorraine Pilkinton and husband, Jerry, Edward Arguello and Laura Lee Olonia and husband, Bob all of Albuquerque; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mariquita Rodriquez and husband, Carlos of Las Vegas, NM; and two brothers, Tony Arguello and wife, Alice of Belen, NM and Jimmy Arguello of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario and Adella Arguello; brother, Cipriano, Bennie, Cruz and Ramon; and sister, Stella Gonzalez. Mr. Arguello was a member of the Catholic Church. He owned and operated Joe's Barber Shop for 45 years. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1517, Faternal Order of the Eagles Arie #2811, Santa Fe and American Legion Post 100. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 11:30 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Bay -- INEZ BAY Born: June 26, 1930 Died: April 15, 2000 Inez died at the home of her daughter, Cherie (Steve) and her family in Safford, Arizona on April 15, 2000, following a long illness. Inez leaves behind four children, Cherie Forsythe (Steve) of Safford, AZ, Garth Bay of Clear, AK, Kim Jensen of Arvada, CO, and Steve Bay of Arvada, CO; three sisters, V.J. Bolinger of Albuquerque, Eileen Walsh (John) of Wichita, KS and Midge Slupnianik (Slup) of Wichita, KS; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and Eddie Clayton, longtime partner who resides in Albuquerque. Inez was a proofreader of court transcripts in the Albuquerque area for many years and was an avid BINGO player. Also left behind are many friends and extended family and her beloved animals, Mutley and Tom. She will be greatly missed, but we feel blessed for the time we had with her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Following cremation, services will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe this June.

Blea -- M. Christina Blea, 38, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 21, 2000. Christina was born in Albuquerque and was residing in El Paso, TX. She is survived by her loving husband, Tony Blea of the family home in El Paso, TX; two sons, Nathian and Joshua Sanchez, both of El Paso, TX. Also surviving are her mother, Elsie Garcia; two sisters, Debbie Garcia and fiance, Gary Francis O'Bryan and Linda A. Sanchez and husband, Tim; two brothers, Michael J. Garcia and Zenon Garcia Jr. and wife, Jeanette; maternal grandmother, Rose Rael of Albuquerque; paternal grandparents, Tefilio and Adelia Garcia, all of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. also at the church, with Fr. Bob Chabot as Celebrant. Casket bearers will be Gary Francis O'Bryan, Michael Garcia, Jake Mirabal, Tim Sanchez, Matt Blea and Jeff Blea. Boeskool -- Mildred (Betty) Boeskool, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, April 22, 2000. She is survived by nine nieces and nephews; and one cousin. Mrs. Boeskool was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Boeskool; and mother, Lydia Eiklor. She was a member of Faith Bible Church. Dawes -- Lawrence (Larry) Dawes, 63 , lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, April 22, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Ronald W. Dawes and wife, Lisa; Richard L. Dawes and wife, Katherine, all of Danville, IN; daughter, Donna McCarty of Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald O. Dawes and wife, Marie of Moriarty; Jack L. Young and wife, Pat of Corrales; and sisters, Phyllis I. Warner and husband, John and Shirley M. O'Neal, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Dawes was a member of First Baptist Church in Albuquerque. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years and was owner of All Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning until 1996. Services will be held Thursday, April 27, 10:30 a.m., at Chester T.
