Bergeron -- Carol A. Bergeron, 43, passed away November 9, 2000 following a long battle with cancer. A native Hawaiian, Carol has lived in Rio Rancho and worked at Intel for the past seven years. Carol served her country in the United States Air force for ten years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Bergeron and her brother, Jeffery Nunez. Carol is survived by her life partner, Sarah L. Jentsch; her mother, Pearl Bargas; grandmother, Necia Bergeron; siblings, Stanley Nunez, Linda Seals, Irene Nunez, Patrick Nunez, and Floyd Bergeron, Jr.; their spouses and children; and many wonderful friends. Carol touched the hearts of many people and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday the 10th of November from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, the 11th of November at 2:00 p.m. Services will be held in the chapel of the Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. 891-9192. Blumenfeld -- Arthur A. Blumenfeld died peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2000, after a fourteen-year fight against lymphoma and myelodysplasia. He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Blumenfeld; daughter, Willow Harth; grandson, Ben Diller and his wife, Mari; and his great-granddaughter, Hana. Art is preceded in death by his sons, Cameron and Daniel Reid. He is also survived by his mother, Lee Blumenfeld; brother, Gerald Blumenfeld; sister, Carole Rosenberg; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends. He will be sorely missed. In spite of his illness, Art remained active up until six months ago. Art was an expert on New Mexico economics, taxation, and finance. His advice was sought by many. Art graduated with a BBA and an MBA from the University of New Mexico and a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado. He directed the Bureau of Business Research and served on the Business School faculty for many years until he became Director of Finance and Administration for the City of Albuquerque in 1974. In 1989, he was appointed the City's Chief Administrative Officer by Mayor Louis Saavedra. Art served on the board of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada and was elected president of GFOA, serving in 1984-85. He was elected to the Anderson Schools of Management Foundation Hall of Fame in 1991. For many years, Art served on the Board of Directors of the NMSO and the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology. Recently, he served on the board of the Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque. He was also active on the Bernalillo County Audit Committee, chaired the advisory Committee of the UNM School of Public Administration, and served on the Board of Advisors on Schools for the Management Foundation. He enjoyed this service and always gave freely of his time and experience. Art was a strong advocate of City-County consolidation of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County governments, and was very involved in the campaign for constitutional amendment #1. Art and his family enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities; bird watching has been a hobby since 1966. He was an excellent wildlife photographer. He was very active in the cultural life of the city and state. The family would like to thank Dr. Clark Haskins, the doctors, nurses, and staff of the New Mexico Oncology Hematology Consultants, Ltd., as well as, the nurses and staff of Unit 5B Presbyterian Hospital for their compassionate and professional care over many years. Bowlin -- Velma Clydene Donovan Bowlin, 84, left us November 4, 2000 to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed away at home in the presence of her family and dearly loved Dandy. Velma was born November 23, 1915 in Corning, KS on the farm of her great-grandparents. The family moved to Kansas City, KS when she was very young and she lived there until 1947 when she and Willard moved to Los Alamos with their two children. While in Los Alamos, she worked for the Zia Company and then moved to a better position at the Los Alamos Scientific Lab where she served as secretary for two assistant directors of the lab, Dr. William Crew and Dr. Henry Hoyr. Velma and Willard moved on to positions in Brigham City, UT, Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA and Washington DC. When they retired, they moved to Sequim, WA and enjoyed gardening, traveling all over the country, and many hobbies which she shared with her dear friends, Helen Thomas, Claire Thorsen, Pauline Brandenburg and Marguerite O'Dell who will miss her. She attended Bible Study Fellowship the past three years and never missed even one class. She made many friends there. Velma was a Christian and saw to it that her children were raised in church, she was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-gramdmother any family ever had. We were truly blessed to have her with us these past 84 years, 11 months and 4 days. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Velma Hazel Waggoner Donovan and Clyde E. Donavan, who was her idol, her dear daughter, Terry Jean in 1972 and her true love and soul-mate, Willard O. Bowlin. Velma is survived by her beloved brother, Jack C. Donavan and wife, Pat of Florida; her daughter, Barbara and husband, Alfred J. Borowy of Corrales; grandchildren, Robin Lee Greenwood, Diane Lee Sudlow both of Albuquerque, David Lee of Glendale, AZ, Kelley A. Price, Beverly Brandt and Brian Price of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren, Michele, Charlotte and Danielle Sudlow of Albuquerque; also surviving, former son-in-law, Bobby Gene Lee and wife, Gayle of Yuma, AZ. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Dr. Tim Marrow of the Taylor Ranch Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe with her beloved husband, Willard. A very special thank you to MJ, Vera, and Presbyterian Hospice; they were very supportive and supplied every need, physical and emotional for Velma and her family. Brodesser -- Frank Joseph Brodesser, 65, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2000. He was born on March 15, 1935 the son of John and Elizabeth Messer Brodesser in Mount Angel, Oregon. Frank retired from the US Navy where he served during the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. He and his wife, Marie worked for Intel where both retired. He and his wife, Marie came to New Mexico from Livermore, CA and had been living her for the past ten years. Frank enjoyed traveling in their motor home with his wife after retirement. Frank is survived by his wife, Marie of Rio Rancho; mother, Elizabeth Brodesser of Woodburn, OR; three children, Cheryle Daniels and husband, Wesley of Albuquerque, Randall Brodesser of Livermore, CA, and Mark Brodesser; and sister, Jeannette Larsen of Portland, OR; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Brodesser. The visitation will be today, Friday, November 10, 2000 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with the service on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. NE, with pastor Alan Brooks officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Bryan -- Lillian V. Bryan, 86, died on November 7, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in El Paso, TX and was a longtime resident of Artesia, NM before moving to Albuquerque five years ago. Her husband, Vernon Eugene Bryan preceded her in death in 1974. While living in Artesia, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan owned and operated Bryan Printer Stationers. Mrs. Bryan was also active in the Altursa Club, D.O.E. and the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her children, Thomas E. Bryan of Arlington, VA and Betty Jo Bradshaw and husband, Dr. Martin D. Bradshaw of Placitas, NM; seven grandchildren, Brynne Bryan, Barry E. Bryan, Elizabeth Rinaldi, Cathrine Wilson, Jeffery York, Janice Bryan and Eden Bryan; and 15 great grandchildren. Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, November 10, 1:30 p.m. at Carter Hall of La Vida Llena Health Care Center, 10501 Lagrima de Oro Road NE, with Rev. Jane Harmes officiating. Erwin -- Virginia McKnight Erwin, an admired and well-liked member of the Albuquerque community for 84 years, has died peacefully at her home. Virginia, daughter of Virgil Randolph and Mary Owens McKnight, grew up at the corner of 5th and Marquette, the present site of the 500 Marquette Bldg., and attended 4th Ward School, Washington Jr. High, and Albuquerque High School, where she was Miss AHS of 1932. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with both a Bachelors and Masters in four years and was"It Queen" in 1934. She taught school for a year in Roswell, NM. and returned to Albuquerque to teach English at UNM to many of her peers. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Robert Owen Erwin, who was from an New Mexico Military Institute family. Virginia, who was affectionately known as"Dinnie," was an accomplished watercolor artist, a talented vocalist, and a voracious reader. She enjoyed the arts, traveling the world, playing bridge, and tending to her rose garden, but her most treasured passion was always her family. she was ever the gracious lady. Her quick wit, sparkling personality and warm smile endeared her to all she met and all who knew her. She will live in our hearts forever. Virginia belonged to many clubs and organizations, among them Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Junior League, Child Study Group, the Book Club, the Old Glass Club, the Old Bridge Club, Chapter"E" of P.E.O., the Albuquerque Country Club, and was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by Robert, her devoted husband of 53 years, her daughter Suzanne, and her sister, Mary Helen Hendrix. She is survived by her adoring daughter and son-in-law, Mary Virginia (Mollie) and Robert Duff Custer; and her granddaughter, Erin McKnight Custer, the light of her life; she is also survived by her much loved nephews, G.G. (Tres) and Virgil R. (Randy) Hendrix. A private burial service was held shortly after her death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the National Parkinson's Foundation, Inc. for Research, Development Department, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL. 33136 or to the charity of your choice. Goodner -- Mr. George Goodner, 85, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 7, 2000. Mr. Goodner is survived by his daughter, Sharyn Morris and husband, Edwin; three grandchildren, Chelsie, Stacie and Jason; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jordan and Cierra; and one sister, Betty Lewis. Mr. Goodner was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in WWII. A committal service in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon Beare, officiating. Jaramillo -- Victor A. Jaramillo, 72, a long time resident of Abeytas, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2000. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, San Antonio Mission. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopoldo and Leonor Jaramillo; one brother, Pete Jaramillo; and two sisters, Andrea Gonzales and Mary Mason. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Lovelia C. of the family home; four sons, Joseph and his wife, Josephine of Alamorgordo; Louis and his wife Irelia of Albuquerque; Steve and his wife, Diana of Dallas; Harold and his wife, Amy of Denver; two daughters, Regina Thiesen and her husband, Bob of Alaska; Dr. Cipry Jaramillo and her husband, Bob Heflin of Taos; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Albuquerque; Salo and his wife, Catherine of Tomoe; and one brother-in-law, Willie Gonzales of Flagstaff. A Rosary will be held on Friday, November 10, 2000, at 6:00pm at San Antonio Catholic Church in Abeytas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Joseph, Louis, Steve, Harold, Benjamin Jaramillo, and Bob Heflin. Jones -- Johnny Lee Jones, 73, a resident of Las Cruces, passed away at the Veterans Medical Center in Albuquerque on November 7, 2000. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving 22 years in the Navy as a Hospital Chief Corpsman. He is survived by his daughters, Robin Tharp of Las Cruces, DeeJay Salcfas of Jonesboro, GA, Katie K.
