Sizemore -- Luther A. Sizemore Jr., passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Eula, his devoted wife of 46 years; also surviving are four daughters, Patricia and husband, Dennis Rowden, Maureen and husband, John Button of Oregon, Sharon and husband, Tom Brooks, and Jean and husband, Mike Congleton; and one son, James Ladell, all of Albuquerque; two sisters, Juanita Hutchins of Springfield, MO, and Martha and husband, R.V. Lynn of Edmond, OK; one brother, Arnold Gene and wife, Jeanne of California; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. As a strong labor leader, his life was devoted to the advancement of the working class people. His innovative ideas and compassion earned him the respect of his peers locally and internationally. Luther retired as Executive Secretary-Treasurer of New Mexico District Council of Carpenters. He was honored to receive his fifty year membership gold card. Luther loved his family, his union, and politics. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Carpenters Hall, 1021 Cardenas NE, Abq. 87110. (Ph. 268-4389). Small -- Dr. Ella May of Fort Worth, TX, and a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1962, passed away January 25, 2001. She was 89. She is survived by her brother, M.A. Small and his wife, Dorothy; nephew, Walter Small, and his son, Bryan of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by nephew, William (Bill) Small of Albuquerque. She is also survived by Bill's family, his wife, Glenda Small and their children, Tessa, Aaron and Amber, all of Albuquerque. Dr. Small was very active in Fellowship Bible Church-in the Sunday School Department, and each year in the Vacation Bible School. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Literature International, P.O. Box 4060, Ontario, CA 1761-1003. Dr. Small began her professional career in public schools at Fort Worth as an Elementary Teacher and High School Physical Education Teacher. She also was a faculty member of the University of Nebraska and the University of Iowa before she joined the Colorado State College faculty in 1946 as an Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education. She left CSC to become Director of Heath Education in the College of Health, Physical Education and Recreation of Texas Woman's University at Denton, TX. This move brought her to a part of the country with which she is familiar. She attended the elementary schools and high school at Fort Worth, TX. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas Woman's College, now Texas Wesleyan, at Fort Worth and her Master of Arts Degree, conferred in 1937, is from the Texas Woman's University to which she returned. She received the Doctor of Education Degree from UCLA in 1955 in Heath Education and Psychology. Her doctoral study was on staff relationships in college and university physical education departments. Immediately before coming to Greeley, she was engaged in recreational therapy for the American Red Cross in military hospitals and for nearly a year was stationed at Camp Carson General Hospital at Colorado Springs. She has been honored by membership in numerous professional organizations including Colorado Education Association, the American and Colorado Associations for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Central Associations for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Central Association of Physical Education for College Women, National Association of Physical Education for College Women, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Pi Lambda Theta, National Education Sorority. She was chairman of the professional leadership committee of the National Association of Physical Education for College Women and was a member of the organization's constitution committee. Dr. Small was also a faculty member of Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, TX, before she joined the University of New Mexico in 1962, where she served as Professor of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Dr. Small was appointed Chairman of the National Committee on the Coordination of School and Community Health Programs. The committee is part of the American School Health Association and includes representatives from the executive office and American Medical Association, health educators, nurses, physicians, and administrators from public schools, colleges, universities, and community and public health organizations. Dr. Small is coordinator of Health Education at UNM, president of the New Mexico School Health Association and council member of the Mid-Rio Grande Comprehensive Health Planning Organization. Dr. Ella May Small, former Professor and Coordinator of Health Education, The University of New Mexico, retired after 44 years of teaching-six in elementary and secondary school and 38 in colleges and universities. Dr. Small was presented with written tributes from students and co-workers bound in a"thesis" format at a large reception in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Paul B. Dearth. The New Mexico School Health Association established"The Ella May Small Education Award" in recognition of her contributions to health education in New Mexico. Services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2001, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Stewart -- Ronald Keith Stewart, 48, passed away on January 25, 2001. He is survived by his two sons, David Stewart and Dennis Fogler of Arkansas; his parents, Charles Austin and Eula Mae Stewart of Bosque Farms; his brother, Kenneth and wife, Patsy of Mesa, Arizona,; his brother, Randy and wife, Cherie of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his brother, Lynn of Mesa, Arizona; his sister, Rhonda and husband, Mark of Albuquerque; his nephews and nieces, Kevin, Kim, Karen, Jessica, Allyson, Daniel, Josh, and Cady. Vigil -- Alice F."Adie" Vigil, 64, a lifetime resident of Cuba, NM, died Thursday, January 25, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Camilo Vigil; father, Virginio Sandoval; sister, Virginia Belarde and husband, Victor of Albuquerque; children, Janet Quintana and husband, Steve Quintana, Darlene Herrera and husband, Steve Herrera, Marty Vigil and girlfriend, Nea Montoya, Robert Vigil and wife, Susan Vigil, and Diana Suazo and husband, Clement Suazo; grandchildren, Dominic Herrera, Noah Quintana, Matthew Vigil, Anthony Vigil, Steven Herrera, Keith Suazo, Nicole Quintana, Carlos Vigil, Rachel Suazo, Jessica Vigil, and Brianna Vigil; and one great granddaughter, Nohelani Herrera. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nicky Sandoval; grandson, Phillip Vigil; and brother, Joe Wilfred Sandoval. Viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of Rosary. Interment will follow at Parish Cemetery. Weir -- Geraldine Leighton Weir, 88, passed away recently at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born in El Paso, TX August 3, 1912, to William C. Leighton and Pearl Parry Leighton. Her father served for many years in international railroad traffic management as cashier and general agent of the El Paso Southern Railway or Mexico Northwestern Railway. Her grandfather, James W. Leighton, an English Immigrant, settled in Socorro along with Joseph Edward Smith, renowned frontier photographer. James Leighton married Elizabeth Chadwick of Leeds, England, in 1885 in Socorro and in 1887 William was born in Kelly, NM as the first of six children. Of these Leighton children, one was born in the Territory of New Mexico, one was born in Mexico, one was born in England, and three were born in El Paso where the family finally settled. Later Marriages of this group of children brought to the family the names of Gilchrist and Rowland who were early settlers at Taos, Mora, and Las Vegas. Geraldine graduated from El Paso High School and later moved to Las Cruces when she married attorney Jess D. Weir in 1935. At this time, she joined the First Presbyterian Church of Las Cruces of which she remained a lifelong member. She was active in her church circle, the Christian Day Nursery, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Community Concert Assn., and the I.F.F. Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother, Parry Leighton, and her sister, Mary Seddon. She is survived by her two sons, William Leighton Weir and wife, Connie of Albuquerque, and Jay Weir of Las Cruces; along with grandchildren Christy Weisz and Michael Weir of Albuquerque and Billy Weir of Peoria, AZ; she was also very fond of her three great-grandsons. At her request there were no services. Memorials may be made to the New Mexico Boys Ranch at Belen.

Woolrich -- Ladona Jane Woolrich died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at her home in Farmington, NM. Ladona is survived by her husband, Larry Woolrich; and her two daughters, Judy Woolrich, and Lora and her husband, Tony Snow. Four grandsons, Jason and Justin Woolrich of Farmington, NM, Christopher and Matthew Cauthen of Edgewood, NM and one granddaughter, Jessica Snow of Aztec, NM; two brothers, Bill Anglin of Edgewood, NM and Dale Anglin of Albuquerque, NM. Numerous nieces, and nephews, and cousins who love her and will miss her dearly. Ladona is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lora Anglin, and her twin brother, Duane Anglin and nephew William Anglin. Bedeaux -- Mary Myer Bedeaux, 73, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, January 25, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Jim Bedeaux; son, Roy Bedeaux and wife, Martha; daughter, Michele Wetherill and husband, Rhys, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Daniel, Clay, Adria, Colleen and Richard; and one sister, Elsie Bell and husband, John of Corpus Christi, TX. Mrs. Bedeaux was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She graduated from Albuquerque High School. Grajeda -- Irene Nan Grajeda, 54, a 12-year resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Reynaldo Rey Grajeda of the family home; son, Dominic Grajeda of Albuquerque; daughters, Dina Giovale and husband, Joe of Phoenix and Regina Grajeda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ryan Giovale and Floyd Grajeda; mother, Lupe Alvarado of Pirtleville, AZ; and sisters, Ramona Santamaria and husband, Charlie of Douglas, AZ, and Mary Marshall of Rio Rico, AZ. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Alvarado and brother, Ramon Alvarado. Irene was a member of the Albuquerque Garden Club (Blue Belles), and Risen Savior Prayer Group. Gurule -- Carlota (Charlotte) Gurule, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, January 26, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Cotinola and husband, Gil, Fran Gurule and Annette Torres and husband, Matt; sons, Edward Gurule and Charles Gurule and wife, Theresa; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, John Chavez and wife, Mela; and best friend, Lolita Baros. Koury -- Helen M. Koury, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past six years, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2001. Helen was born October 27, 1917 the daughter of John Gibran and Sadie Shadid Albert in Wichita, Kansas. She came to Rio Rancho from Santa Fe. Helen had been a teacher in the Santa Fe Public Schools for 30 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Koury in 1981. Helen is surviveed by two sons, Jerry Koury and wife, Gloria of Tucson, AZ, John Koury and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque, three brothers, Ralph Albert and Raymond Albert of Elk City, OK, and Ned Albert of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Frances Khoury of Oklahoma City, OK and Blanche Alex of Flint, MI; four grandchildren, Alex, Peter, Jason and Tami Koury; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited for Helen on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho.
