GASTON, MARIE DALE Loving Mother, doting Grammie and true friend to many, was called to Heaven by our Lord after a long courageous battle. Marie was born to Virgil and Marie Waddell in Wilson, AK on March 5, 1938. She passed on June 10, 2013, in Albuquerque NM with her family by her side. She was 75 years young. Marie lived a life filled with many careers and adventures and touched many lives. She was always there for family, friends and strangers. "Her glass was always half full". Riding motorcycles across the United States including Alaska and Canada, and traveling on new adventures with her granddaughter was one of her favorite pastimes. Her smiles and bright blue eyes will be missed by many. She was a PEO member for over 50 years. She was a member of Calvary Church in Albuquerque. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Marie Waddell; brother, Benton Waddell; sons, Paul Gaston and Benton Gaston; and daughter, Victoria Gaston. Marie is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ferris; granddaughter, Kaysey Ferris; Tom Fitzsimmons; sister, Debbie Poland and husband Dave; niece, Stephanie Poland; sister in law, Judy Waddell, as well as many nieces and nephews. BLANKENSHIP, CLAIRE LOUISE Claire committed her life to loving and serving God, her husband, her family, and her countless friends. Her legacy is not just the number of children and grandchildren that she left behind, but the impact she had in teaching them to trust in the Lord with all their heart and acknowledge Him in all their ways. Claire is in heaven but her wisdom, spirit, and the memories she created live on in our hearts. She will be greatly missed. Claire, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on June 18, 2013. She is survived by Clarence Blankenship, her husband of 66 years; a brother; two sisters-in-law; six children and their families; including fifteen grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. A viewing will be held at FRENCH - Lomas on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 6pm-8pm. Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 am at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111, followed by a reception from 11-12:30. BALL-COOKSEY, LINDAANNE Age 52, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side after a long illness on Friday May 31, 2013. She was born in Queens, New York on October 25, 1960 to Howard and Eleanor Capen. Linda as she was known to her family and friends was preceded in death by her mother and father. Linda is survived by her husband Fred; brother in law Chris Cooksey; brother in law Bill Cooksey all of Albuquerque, NM; cousin Robert Capen of Oakland Gardens, NY, sister Mary K. Anderson-Williams and her husband, Joe Bob, of Albuquerque, NM; her oldest and dearest friend Jeanne Monsees and her husband Donald, of Hauppauge, NY; and many cousins from around the United States and her sweet loving dogs Mary (Moo Moo) and Winner (Wee Wee). Linda moved to Albuquerque with her father Howard where she went on to obtain two Master's Degrees in Business and Finance. Linda was a docent for the Rio Grande Zoo. She was an accomplished photographer. The epitome of a "lifelong learner" Linda continued to take on new challenges, most recently learning to play the guitar even though she was Deaf. Linda always rose to the challenges of the difficult circumstances of her life. Linda had a helping spirit and a humor that could light up a room. She will be sorely missed. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Jeanne Monsees and Sue Stone who greatly added value and substance to Linda's life. KEYS, MADELEINE PEPIN, PHD Dr. Madeleine Pepin Keys, 69, passed away peacefully on June 19th at her home in Albuquerque. Dr. Keys is survived by her husband of 47 years David Keys; daughters and sons David, Christine, Michele, William and Lara Keys; grandchildren Cassandra Turner, Shane Barrett, David, Gordon, Graeme, Hamish Taylor and Henry Keys; and great-grandchildren Blaze and Tripp Turner. Dr. Keys was preceded in death by her son Linzy, granddaughter Haley Keys, parents Henry and Margaret Pepin, and sister Jeanine Peterson. Dr. Keys was a renowned academic, studying Law, Medicine and Psychology before settling into Philosophy as a lifelong passion and profession. She received her Baccalaureate from Portland State University, two Masters degrees from the University of Idaho, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Texas Austin. She was the first woman to ever be offered a fellowship in Philosophy at UT Austin. She taught Philosophy at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. After 20 years she retired and moved to Boise Idaho, where she was an adjunct professor at Boise State. She also started her own businesses in Web Design, Corporate Education and Logic Application techniques. Dr. Keys and her husband relocated to Albuquerque, her childhood roots, last June. The family will be having a celebration of her life and her accomplishments on Sunday, June 23, from 1:00 until 3:00 at the family home.

HARRIS, JOSEPH MELVIN Age 50, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held at Hood Mortuary, 1261 E. 3rd Avenue in Durango at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 24th with Pastor Scott Kujath officiating. He was born June 26, 1962, in Durango, Colorado, the son of Melvin E. and Mary Joanne Harris. He grew up in Durango and attended schools there before briefly moving to Taos and Gallup, New Mexico. Later he would settle in Albuquerque in where he and his family would spend the remainder of his years. He met his wife, Michelle White in 1982 and they married in Durango on September 28, 1985 and were together for over 30 years. He will be remembered as a good husband, father, brother, and friend who enjoyed his family and shared his passions of boating, fishing, camping, and much to the chagrin of his siblings' he was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan throughout his life. Joe also enjoyed history and taught his sons to question everything! For most of his adult life, Joe worked at Dee's Cheesecake Factory in outside sales where he received many accolades and awards for his outstanding service and sales achievements. He is survived by his wife Michelle (White) Harris of Albuquerque; sons, Joseph Harris and Michael Harris, both of Albuquerque; mother Mary Joanne (Hastings) Harris of Durango; siblings: J. Russell Foster (spouse: Glenda) of Bradshaw, Nebraska; Johnny L. Foster (spouse: Debbie Ann) of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Yvonne (Vonnie) McCallum (spouse: William McCallum) of Aspen and Denver, Colorado; Deborah Longwell (spouse: Stanley) of Durango; and Cynthia Lindquester (spouse: Rick) of Phoenix, Arizona; his aunt, Anita Lewis of Aztec, New Mexico; six cousins, eight nieces, five nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin E. Harris; his maternal grandparents, Homer F. and Mary Casey Hastings; and niece, Michaela Dawn Rambo. Graveside interment will be in the Reese Family Plot at Greenmount Cemetery, Durango, CO, following the memorial service on June 24th. A "celebration of life" reception will be held immediately following the graveside interment.

SALINAS, MARIA ELVA Mary, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on June 17, 2013. She was born in Mission, Texas. She is survived by her loving children: Dan L. Salinas, Debra K. Romero and David A. Salinas; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete and her youngest son Duke. In 1950, Pete and Mary moved to Albuquerque from south Texas due to an assignment by the US Army. After Pete retired from military service, in 1967, they owned and operated Compact Coffee Service, a successful family business, based in Albuquerque for over 35 years. Mary was an active member of Our Lady of Annunciation Church, as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteering with the Lay Canossian Sisters and a member of the Marianites. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm immediately followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00pm, presented by the Marianites from Annunciation Parish to be held at French Mortuary at 7121 Wyoming Blvd., N.E. 505-823-9400. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 24 at 8:30am at Our Lady of Annunciation Church. Mary will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following the funeral Mass. GARVIN, ROCKNE "ROCKY" MICHAEL January 3, 1959 - June 8, 2013 Rocky was the firstborn son of the late James and Patricia Garvin. He was born in Toledo, OH, grew up in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, NM, and moved to Hawaii in 1989. Rocky is a treasured son, brother, husband, and father; a friend to many and has never met a stranger. His generous heart and giving spirit have touched many over the years, as he found great joy in serving others. He is survived by his wife Mary; his daughters Malia and Roxanna; brother Brian Garvin; sisters Kim White, Kelly Garvin, Shannon Steckbeck, and Tiffin Perkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. We will miss his laughter, but we will daily celebrate his life and embrace every moment we were blessed to spend with him. A Memorial and Celebration of his life will be held in Albuquerque in October; details to be announced at a later time.

BALL, THOMAS S. A long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, June, 16th at the age of 56. He was born in Utica, NY but resided in Oriskany Falls, NY for 18 years then came to Albuquerque where he lived for the rest of his life. Tom loved fishing, camping, and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents Asahel Ball and Pauline Briggs. Thomas is survived by son, Tommy Ball; wife of 27 years; his brother, Andy Ball of Albuquerque; five sisters, Martha Berry of NY, Catherine Cordova of NM, Patty Darst of OH, Elaine Petterson of NY, and Marie Wolfsbauer of FL; and several nieces and nephews. His final resting place will be in New York.

ORTEGA KOTEEN, ANTONIO A. Age 15, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hilario Segura; and uncle, Gilbert Gonzales. Antonio is survived by mother, Jennifer M. Koteen of Albuquerque, NM; father, Jasen and Jeanette Koteen; "Bonus" Mom and Dad: Renee and John Morris of Albuquerque, NM; siblings, Natasha Koteen and fiancee Anthony Cervantez, Damien Ortega, Chris Ortega, Johnny Morris, Joseph Morris, Zach Sedillo and wife Karen, Jennifer Vallejos, all of Albuquerque, NM; maternal grandmother; Isidora Segura; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Vivian Koteen; very special nieces, Miranda Cervantez, Destiny Lucero, Kaylonii Sedillo. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on January 14, 1998. Antonio attended Valley High School and was a member of AFROTC. Spending time with family and friends played an important role in his life as well as music and rebuilding cars and bikes with his dad, Jasen. GENSLER, HARRY C., JR. Harry, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born on June 3, 1940 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Harry Corman Gensler, Sr. and Emily Simeone. He is survived by his loving children, Janice Larson and Harry Gensler along with their spouses William Larson and Nicole Gensler; four grandchildren, Samantha, Bryce, and Logan Larson, and Kayla Gensler. Also survived by his sister, Pam Gensler, of San Fransisco, and his brothers, Thomas Gensler and Richard Gensler of New Jersey. Harry was loved and adored by his family and friends. He always had a great "Jersey" story and a wonderful smile. Harry was an avid reader and golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, watching sporting events and attending school concerts. He worked a lifetime in the newspaper-publishing industry. He started in the late 1960's at the Hudson Dispatch along side his father as an apprentice. The family decided to move to Rio Rancho in 1972 where he took his one and only job as a printer at the Albuquerque Tribune and retired 30 years later in 2003.
