Bradley -- Kenneth Bradley, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away January 5, 2001. He was born January 2, 1930 in Mitchell Dam, Alabama and resided in Decatur, AL. He was a police officer with NASA, and a Veteran of U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ and at Red Stone, AL. His wife, June Bradley, preceded him in death on October 2, 2000. He is survived by children, John Bradley and wife, Linda, Robert, Rebecca Stewart and husband, Lloyd and Brenda; four grandchildren, Maria, Christopher, Kevin and Kenny; and one brother, Wallace Bradley of Fair Hope, AL. Butler -- Charles Walter Butler, II, 38 years old, expired in Albuquerque Wednesday, January 24, 2001. He was born November 7, 1962 at Greatfall, Montana, and lived in Florida until joining the Air Force in 1982. He had been a resident of New Mexico since 1990, and was employed at the Intel Corporation in Rio Rancho, NM. Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Stani Butler; and his children, Adam Butler, age 14, and Sara Butler, age 11, all of California; also surviving are his father, Charles W. Butler, I; and his step-mother, Donna C. Butler, both of New Port Richey, FL; his brother, Matthew W. Butler of New Port Richey, FL; and his sister, Angeleana C. Butler, presently living in the country of Oman. Private Family Services have been held, and cremation has taken place. Interment with military honors will take place at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart Association, Forest Hills NE, Alb, NM 87109, or to a local Hospice Foundation. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mr. Butler. 891-8200.

Crays-Schippers -- Annette J. Crays Schipper passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001 at her home. She was born in Illinois on April 15, 1914. A resident of Albuquerque for more than fifty years, she worked at Sandia Laboratories, and was a secretary in the Albuquerque Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Crays in 1965. survivors include her nieces, Marilyn Krause of Spring, TX, Carol Glenn of Albuquerque, Janice Walters of Mandan, ND, Patricia Hayes of Algonquin, IL, and Kristine Thornton of Encino, CA; her nephew, Ronald Krause of California; ten grandnieces and nephews; and seven great-grandnieces and nephews. Also surviving are her treasured pets, Sassy and Charlie. Cremation has taken place, and she will be buried with her husband, Kenneth, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. Private Services have been held by the family. Sunrise Society is serving the family. (891-8200).

Darling -- Wanda Lou (Loyd) Darling died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at the age of 72. She is survived by children, Charles W. Darling, Missy L. Waddell, Dow L. Darling, Terry D. Busby, Cory C. Darling all of Springerville, AZ, and Polly R. Darling of Albuquerque. Her husband, George E. Darling died in 1987. She leaves behind many dear friends including Thomas Allen Summers of Springerville, AZ. In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Service for friends and family was held Friday, January 26, 2000 at the Presbyterian Church in Springerville, Arizona. Those who knew and loved her are profoundly saddened by the loss but are grateful for having been touched by the vibrancy of her life.

Dodson -- Dee C. Dodson, age 88, passed away January 26, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1912 in Lamb County, Texas, the fifth child to Ben A. and Daisy Brewster Dodson, who were among the first settlers of that county. Mr. Dodson was raised on a dry farm near Olton, Texas through his high school, where he was an outstanding athlete. In the 1980's he wrote an autobiography of those early years entitled"Deetales" which brought him some claim to fame on the plains of West Texas in his retirement years. Dee's career started with some years at the Soil Conservation Service, and ended with some more years there. In between came World War II and careers as a Court Reporter in Pampa, Texas. A Congressional Administration Assistant to Walter, Rogers, US Congressman. In 1955 he decided to move back to the wide open spaces of the West, and moved his family to Albuquerque where he operated Dee's Dairy on 6th and Copper. After some years, he decided that the hamburger business wasn't this forte. Mr. Dodson was a self educated man, teaching himself higher mathematics, genetics, Spanish, typing and shorthand. He also read the"Harvard Classics" and memorized the"Rubyat" just for fun. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Dodson of the family home; one son, Ben Dodson and wife, Marlene of Albuquerque; two daughters, Rebecca Stewart and husband, Ken of Texarkana, Texas and Carol Dee Ledon and husband, Octavio of Las Cruces; one sister, Martha Rebecca Thomson of El Paso, Texas. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. At Mr. Dodson's request cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE in Albuquerque. Gabbett -- Michael F. Gabbett, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 41 years, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2001. He was a beloved husband, father,"Opa" and friend. Gabbett was born on August 5, 1919, in Philadelphia. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940, beginning a 20-year career. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. In 1943, he answered President Roosevelt's call for volunteers for"a dangerous and hazardous mission" and became a member of Merrill's Marauders, the 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional.) This elite unit fought under unspeakable conditions in the Burmese jungle. Gabbett designed the unit's patch, worn today by the 75th Infantry (Rangers.) From 1949 to 1960, he was an investigator for the Criminal Investigation Division in Germany, an accomplishment of which he was very proud. He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant in 1960 at Sanda Base. In 1985, he wrote and self-published a book,"The Bastards of Burma." As he wrote on the back cover of his book,"The Marauders proved time and again that the human spirit could prevail when called upon." Gabbett's own spirit and tenacity allowed him to prevail against a host of physical ailments right up to the end of his life. Days before his passing at the Veterans Administration US Hospital, Gabbett rapid-fired three jokes in a row at his doctors, prompting one of them to remark,"Everyone walks out of this room laughing." Way to go, Dad. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elfriede; son, Thomas Gabbett; daughter, Patricia Gabbett Snow and husband, Brian, and children, Michael, Megan and Kasey; daughter, Maureen Gabbett of Cape May, N.J., and children, Lisa and Bill; and many friends and caring neighbors. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael H. Gabbett, in 1971. His greatest joy in recent years was spending time with his namesake 3-year-old grandson, Michael. Gabbett was a member of the Edelweiss am Rio Grande German American Club, the American Legion, the RoaDrunner Basha CBI, and the Merrill's Marauders Association. Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.

Gallegos1 -- Carlos P. Gallegos, 74, a resident of Edgewood, NM since April 1993, and formerly of La Palma, CA, passed away Friday, January 5, 2001 at home with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born August 13, 1926, to Reymundo and Ida DiLorenzo Gallegos in Las Vegas, NM. On July 26, 1948, in Las Vegas, NM he married Clara Salazar. She survives him at home. He attended Immaculate Conception High School before entering the US. Navy. Carlos served his country during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the United Auto Workers Union for many years. He was employed for 30 years at the General Motors Corporation plant in South Gate, CA, as a final inspector. Carlos was also very active in his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society until 1999. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his wife, Clara Gallegos of Edgewood; one daughter, Carla Dee Gallegos of Edgewood; one brother, Arthur R. Gallegos and wife, Cecilia of Las Vegas; two sisters, Fabiola Lita Mingo and husband, Louis of Albuquerque and Margaret Hirsch and husband, Donald of Joliet, IL; and five grandchildren, Paul Gutknecht, Lance Elliot, Charles Roth, Denise Gallegos, Rachel Gallegos and Ronda Gallegos. His parents and two sons, preceded him in death. Deacon Jose Escandon recited a Rosary on Sunday, January 7, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, with the Holy Child Church Choir providing the music and conducted by Cayetano Herrera, Choir Director. On Monday, January 8, 2001, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mass was concelebrated by Father Anthony L. Martinez, Father John F. Carney and Father John Candido Rodriguez, assisted by Deacon James A. Baca. Pallbearers were Clarence Gallegos, Paul Gutknecht, Gene Gajewski, Harley Hooten, Darby Miera, Dennis Milinazzo and C.E. (Chuck) Ring. Burial followed in the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Moriarty.

Growney -- Nancy Browder Growney passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2001. Nancy was born in Amarillo, TX on December 22, 1929 and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1948. After graduating in 1952 with a journalism degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, Nancy went to work for the Amarillo Globe News as a feature writer and covered other general assignments. She then worked for the Albuquerque Journal covering the Federal Beat. Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas F. Growney; her two sons, Thomas D. Growney and wife, Leigh and Daniel C. Growney and her two grandchildren, Ryan and Caroline Growney. Nancy is also survived by her her brother, David C. Browder and wife, Pearl, of Memphis, TX. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The Funeral Mass will be performed at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at the Diamond Tail Ranch Cemetery, Memphis, TX. Hubbart -- Gerald W. Hubbart, 70, a resident of Albuquerque for more than forty years, passed away December 11, 2000 of cancer complications. He is survived by two sons, Wes Hubbart of Albuquerque, NM and Glenn Hubbart and his wife, Suzanne of Austin, TX; daughter, Lisa Bruner and her husband, Ron of Hamilton, OH; brother, Ken Hubbart of Incline Village, NV; four grandchildren. Mr. Hubbart went to school at Hingham MA High School, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, were he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, and UNM. He served as the Asst. Dean of men at UNM. He worked in the mining industry in Grants, Socorro County and in Arizona until the late 60's. Mr. Hubbart was an early advocate of programmed learning (teaching machine industry) which was later purchased by McGraw-Hill. He enjoyed part-time teaching at UNM and at the University of Albuquerque. Mr. Hubbart was a real-estate broker and a former member of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves and in the Air Force Reserves COSI. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Child Parish in Tijeras, NM on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 10:00 a.m., with Father John Carney officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Place NE, Ste. 120 Albuquerque, NM 87110. Koger -- Ethel E. Koger, age 101, a resident of Albuquerque 59 years, died peacefully at her home Friday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mart in 1967 and son, Raymond, July 7, 2000. She is survived by daughter, Joyce M. Koger; sister, Maude Schneider; four grandchildren, Penny Maier and husband, Mike, Delia Rudnick and husband, Ken, Evelyn Sadler and husband, Terry, Rodney Koger and wife, Alicia; seven great-grandchildren, Sandy Mitchell, Kira Rudnick, Clint Rudnick, Brian Sadler, Jesse Sadler, Tracey Koger, Andrew Koger; nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Pastor G.R. Patrick officiating. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, are in charge of arrangements.
