Herrington -- Willard E. (Bill) Herrington died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 of heart failure induced by pneumonia. Bill was born in Otteson, Iowa and raised on a farm near Greenville, Illinois. He served twenty-two years in the Army Air Corps and the Navy including a tour in Panama during World War II. He and his wife, Peggy, met in St. Louis, Missouri and lived thirty years in Texas where he owned a convenience store. During this time he served as a Leader in the Boy Scout of America and was an active member of Arlington and Granbury Presbyterian Churches. He and Peggy retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985. Here he was a member of American Legion Post #49, served at St. Martin's Hospitality Center and La Mesa Presbyterian Church where he enjoyed working with the Tuesday Guys Group. Bill enjoyed traveling and was a lover of people as well as an avid painter. Bill was the devoted husband of Peggy James Herrington, who together celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on his 79th birthday, June 11th of last year. He is survived by his wife; his son, Darrell; his sister, Wilma Sweringen; nephews, nieces, aunts, in-laws, cousins and friends. Memorials in lieu of flowers are welcomed by his family for La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave NE, Albq, NM 87108 or the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albq, NM 87108. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2001, at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, followed by burial of cremains at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Koury -- Michael David Koury, 69, a life long resident of New Mexico, died Wednesday, January 31, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Jean Koury; daughters, Cynthia Schelby, Nanette Landers and husband, Jeff, Jeanine Statzula and husband, Tom all of Albuquerque; sons, David Koury and wife, Kelly of San Antonio, TX, Capt. George Koury and wife, Laura, of Palmer Lake, CO; five grandchildren, Tom, Teal, Ashley, Kory and Michael; brothers, Joseph Koury of Albuquerque, Jim Koury and wife, Dale of Rio Rancho and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. David was employed by Coors Distributorships for 31 years where he served as statewide General Sales Manager. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. David was a member of the 20/30 Club, The Lions Club and the Elks Club. Rosary will be recited Friday, February 2, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary , Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 2001, 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE with Fr. Joseph Thai, Celebrant. Lopez -- Dillingham resident Richard D. Lopez, 49, died January 29, 2001 at his sister's Anchorage, Alaska home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 1, 1 p.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Mr. Lopez was born January 14, 1952 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received his GED from Valley High. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and also served in Vietnam. He had been a resident of Alaska since April 1989, living in Anchorage for 9 years and Dillingham for 2.5 years. Richard was preceded in death by his father Lucrecio Lopex, and his father-in-law Albert Krueger. He is survived by his wife Donna of Dillingham; children Richard Louis of Albuquerque, Celena Hernandez of Brooklyn, New York, Lea and Darlene Lopez of Albuquerque, and Jason of Dillingham; mother Albita Lopez; brother & sisters Andy and Lydia Paiz, Oleta and Ramon Gurule, Robert Lopez all of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother Joe Paiz of Amarillo; sister Irene, and husband Louis Gallegos of Belen.

Lovato -- Frances Lovato, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, passed away Monday, January 29, 2001. She was a member of St. Therese Parish and a long time member of the Sacred Heart Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1986. Frances is survived by her children, Senovia Solano Gonzales, of Las Vegas, NM, Isidro Lovato and wife, Flora, of Gonzales Ranch, NM, Mary Cox, Louise Cox Garlock and husband, Bob, Livorio"Lee" Lovato and wife, Caroline, Anastacio Lovato and wife, Erlinda Ernestine Ortiz and husband, Nelson, Helen Valles, and John Lovato, all of Albuquerque. Her survivors also include 32 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren. A viewing will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Fitzgerald Chapel, Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Therese Church, 4th Ave NW and Mildred. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at St. Therese Church on Friday, February 2, 2001 followed by services and interment at the Gonzales Ranch Chapel Cemetery in Gonzales Ranch. Martinez -- Albert G. Martinez, 90 years old, passed away January 31, 2001.¯He was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and a member of Nativity Parish for many years.¯George was preceded in death by his wife Lorenzita Martinez, and is survived by his four children Priscilla Cordova, George Martinez, Terri Lujan and husband David of Nebraska, Eddie Hopkins and wife Dolores of Santa Fe; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; great great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and others who loved him and will miss him dearly.¯ Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alameda, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 1, 2001.¯ Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Friday, February 2, 2001, with burial following at Mt. May -- Arline D. May, age 56, passed away January 27, 2001. She was born Arline Doris Favata, August 27, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas & Doris Favata. She has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1972. She leaves behind four children, Kim Fillare, Frank Fillare, Rita Fillare, Sandra Cangiolosi and husband, Richard; her Grandchildren, Jacquelyn Marie, Samantha Audrey, Jessica Cangiolosi, Danielle Leanne, Richie Cangiolosi, Jr., Jeremiah Fillare, Joshua Fillare; and great-grandson, Kevin. The Family of Arline would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who loved and befriended their Mother over the years. Mayhew -- James Paul Mayhew passed away on Friday, January 26, 2001, one month shy of his 91st birthday. He was born on February 26, 1910 in New Brighton, PA, the third of four sons to Noah and Zada Mayhew. Mr. Mayhew grew up in East Palestine, OH and served in WWII in the US Army as a Military Policeman. He came to Albuquerque after the war and was employed at Baldridge Lumber and Home Builder's Supply, until his retirement. Mr. Mayhew enjoyed dancing, bridge, playing pool and was an avid baseball fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Winnie, in 1986. Mr. Mayhew is survived by his brother, William Mayhew and wife, Dorothy of Vallejo, CA; his nephews, Gary Mayhew of Albuquerque, Robert Mayhew and wife, Marylou of Santa Fe and Jonathan Mayhew and wife, Barbara of McLean, VA; nieces, Debbe Noto of San Francisco, CA and Patti Winkler of Vallejo, CA; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces, including Michael and Vicki Mayhew of Albuquerque; and many friends. Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 4, at 3:00 p.m., at St. Mark's-On-The-Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond NE. Messersmith -- Vivian Messersmith, a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years passed peacefully away on January 30, 2001. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Harry. She is survived by son Lanny D. Messersmith, wife Christine and son Nick; daughter Vicky L. Shields, husband Ed and daughter Ashley of Roswell, Georgia; sisters Margaret Bowers of Laverne, Oklahoma, Mildred Denchfield and Wanda Concannon of Albuquerque; sister-in-law Velda Messersmith of Roswell, Georgia; also numerous nieces and nephews. Vivian was a 56 year member of The Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She retired from Sandia Federal Labs in 1977. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Ballut Abyad Shrine Masque, 6600 Zuni S.E. at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, the 2nd of February. Miller -- Viola Miller, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2001. She is survived by her dear friend, Bill Boswell of Albuquerque. Mrs. Miller was a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene, and an auxiliary charter member. She was also a member of the Gideons Society. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Rev. Bill Nielson officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. Moore -- James Robert Moore, age 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two sons, Mike Spurgeon, his wife, Terry and their children, Charles Spurgeon of the family home; daughter, Sharon Spurgeon of Albuquerque; five granddaughters, Tammy, Paul, Jamie, Shawnee and Santee; eight great-grandchildren; special cousin, Gary Premo and wife Julie and their children, Justin, Jarrett, Jason of Governeur, NY; fishing buddies, Michael Fick and son, Mitch Simmons and family; and other numerous relatives in Ogdensburg, NY. Mr. Moore was a 16 year veteran of the United State Military Service and former employee of Ross Aviation. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
