Flynn -- Lita M. Flynn. Lita was born in Chilili, NM, and she passed away at her home in Pampa, TX. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1976, also residing in Albuquerque, Europe, and Hawaii, as well as other parts of the United States. Mrs. Flynn was one of the heirs to the Westland Development Co., Inc., which was formerly known as the Atrisco Land Grant. Her ancestors settled in the Albuquerque area from Spain. She did extensive volunteer work during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. She was involved in numerous charity organizations and received many awards, recognitions and honors. She was selected to represent Fort Polk, Louisiana as Army Wife of the Year, and was selected as NCO Wife of the Month several times. She touched so many lives and will be dearly missed. Lita is survived by her husband, Gordon H. Flynn of the home; one daughter, Maria-Elena A. Rael of Albuquerque, NM; one son, Steve Rael of Merritt Island, FL; one brother; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and interment will occur at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, TX. Because of the loving care she received from hospice, the family requests memorials in her memory be sent to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065.

Griego -- Jake J. Griego, a resident of Albuquerque for 54 years, died Friday, March 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Connie Griego of Albuquerque; daughters, Gloria Austin and husband, Richard, Becky Johnson and husband, Jim, Yolanda Donaldson, and Bernadette Snagel and husband, Allen all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Griego and wife, Betty, John Griego and wife, Katie, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Dorlores Baca and husband, Art of Albuquerque, and Trini"Mary" Thompson and husband, Raymond, of Andrews, SC. Jake was a member of Queen of Heaven Church, and a past Commander and Service Officer of DAV Cutting Chapter 3. During his time in the Army, he received the Purple Heart. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Road, NW. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 15, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church 5311 Phoenix Ave., NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Ralph Griego., Jr., Mark Griego, Steve Griego, or John Griego, Rick Baca, Anthony Griego and Charles Garcia. Gunter -- N. P. Pres Gunter, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Luella M. Gunter of the family home; son, Robb Gunter and wife, Bunty of Tijeras, NM; daughter, Kathy Ann Gunter of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, Chad and Brad Gunter of Tijeras, NM; and brother, Tom Gunter and wife, Marge of Pueblo, CO. Pres was born in Pueblo, Colorado on October 25, 1920 and lived there until 1941 when he came to Albuquerque, New Mexico to attend UNM. After graduation from UNM he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and established Air Engineering in 1960. He was a member of the Albuquerque Kiwanis Club, with 34 years of perfect attendance. Pres was also a member of Grace Church. Services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2001, 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE, Pastor Edwin Shepperson, officiating. Helms -- Earlene Helms, 67, a resident of Albuquerque for 57 years, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Audie Helms; son, Keith Helms; daughters, Brenda Gantt and husband, Eddy and Denise Friend and husband, Dave, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Audie K. Helms III from ID, Jennifer and Melissa Helms, both of Tomé, Willis Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Ashley Gantt of Albuquerque, Beau Gantt of Los Lunas, and Candice and Travis Friend, both of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Alexis Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK; step-father, Oscar Turner; sisters, Phyllis Mitchell and husband, John and Nagatha Himel and husband, Webb; brothers, Frank Turner and wife, Lynda and Doug Turner and wife, Peggy, all of Albuquerque; several nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends who love her and will miss her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Orlena Turner; father, Vollie Maggard; and sisters, Josephine Maggard and Nadine Mobley. Earlene was very active with her husband in their auto repair business, A&E Auto Repair. She had worked for Jills Bakery many years at the Piggly Wiggly on Isleta Blvd. Earlene was a member of the Women of the Moose, Pythian Sisters and the Pythian Sunshine Girls; and she was past president of Duke City Raceway Auxiliary. She loved auto racing and being involved first hand. She loved to watch and cheer for her daughter, Brenda and son-in-law, Eddyshe was their #1 fan. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Moore -- Robert (Curly) C. Moore, 92, a resident of Rio Rancho for one year and a former resident of Lemon Grove, CA, died on Monday, March 12, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Leone Moore; daughter, Beverly Jackson and husband, Harold of Placita, NM; son, Earl Moore and wife, Jackie of Chico, CA; eight grandchildren, Bruce Jackson, Laura Jackson, Teresa States, Julie States, Robert Moore, David Moore, Kenneth Moore and Kristina Moss; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Irving E. Moore and wife, Carlina of Albuquerque; niece, Cynthia Moore and nephew, Richard Moore. Mr. Moore retired from Buck Knives. Private disposition has taken place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Padilla -- Claude Padilla, Jr., 61, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, March 11, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Genevieve M. Padilla; sons, Kenneth"K.G." Padilla and wife, Darlene and Charles David Padilla; daughters, Margaret Juliette Saiz and husband, DeWayne all of Albuquerque and Tracy Louise Bormann and husband, Steven of Newnan, GA; 15 grandchildren, Claude, Genevieve, Charles, Peter Juan de Dios, DeWayne, Rachel, David, Cruz, Domenic, Rosalie, Zachary, Jovon, Jacob, Selma and Shalamar; sisters, Carmen Cotinolla of Albuquerque and Sandra Padilla of California; two brothers, Kenneth Padilla and wife, June and Dwight Padilla and wife, Marie all of California. Claude was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree). Claude was a loving kind man"Mr. Wonderful" who was loved by all. He served his country proudly for 20 years in the US Navy with seven tours in Vietnam. Richardson -- James Lindsey Richardson, U.S.N P.C.C.S. (Retired), 76, of Albuquerque died at home March 12, 2001 with his family at his side. He served in the US Navy 27 1/2 years and was a Veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He later retired in 1986 from the US Postal Service after 16 years. James was preceded in death by his parents Marion M. and Teresa E. Richardson and brother, Marion Richardson Jr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pola R. Richardson; two sons, John J. Richardson and wife, Christy, and Thomas J. Richardson; daughter, Pola C. Richardson; and four grandchildren, Olivia and husband, Shawn Dearholt, Jon Michael Mills, Racquel Richardson and Justin Cline; two sisters, Isabel and husband, Louie Silva, Rosemary Chavez and husband, Benny; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW., Albuquerque 87107. A Memorial Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001. Robinson -- Ruth Baker Robinson, 87, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away Monday, March 12, 2001 under the loving care of the staff at Aspen House. Mrs. Robinson was born on February 18, 1914 to Trigg and Venie Maxwell Baker, in Pound, VA. She married Harold Robinson May 15, 1936 in Pound, VA and they moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1937 where she was employed as a schoolteacher with the Albuquerque Public Schools. She has been a resident of the Las Cruces area since July, 1995. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her daughter, Sandra Strange and her husband, Jerry, of Santa Teresa, NM; and her sister, Agnes Ellison of Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold in August, 1986, and her parents, Trigg and Venie Baker. Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, in Santa Fe, NM. Romero -- Mela Romero, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for over 24 years, died Saturday, March 10, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Romero and wife, Virginia of Belen, Charles Romero of Glendale, CA, and Gene Romero and wife, Shirley of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; and special nieces and nephew and good friends, Celia, Peggy and Mike. She was preceded in death by husband, Nash Romero in 1978 and her parents, Juan Martinez and Piedad Otero. Mela was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Santillanes -- Teresita Santillanes, 97, died Sunday in Albuquerque with her daughter, Carmen Madrid grandson, Tony Madrid and granddaughter, Dina Martinez at her bedside. Ms. Santillanes is preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Candy Martinez. She is survived by her daughters, Carmen Madrid, Rosella Martinez and Diana Flores; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Ms. Santillanes will be held on Thursday at San Jose Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Madrid, Eddie Martinez, Eloy Santillanes, Angel Caro, Paul Sierra and Joe Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Martinez, Anthony Cordova, Victor Candelaria, Matthew Gonzales, Nathan Gonzales, Ruben Martinez, and Julian Montoya.
