Harrison -- Johnny L. Harrison, 60, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and a former resident of Midland, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Tylena; his two sons, Jerry and Justin Harrison, all of Albuquerque; two brothers, Alton Harrison and wife, Anne and James Harrison and wife, Gloria; six sisters, Irene Clark, Mary Louise Howell and husband, Bobby, Dolores Reynolds and husband, Ralph, Wanda Saunders and husband, Russ, Dorothy Jo Ray and Nova Koin, all of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Velma Harrison and Jonathan Harrison; and his first wife, Valois Black Harrison. After a longtime career in the trucking industry, he was most recently employed by Duke City Distributing. He also served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1964 with the rank of sergeant. May God be with all who loved him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Ridgecrest Christian Church, 5300 Eastern Blvd. SE, with Pastor Ken Kady officiating. Hoyt -- Leslie (Shorty) C. Hoyt, 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Friday, April 12, 2002 at Lovelace Hospital. Leslie C. Hoyt, son of Frank and Grace (Rhines) Hoyt, was born at Braddock, ND on November 16, 1918. He lived in and around the Elliott and Lisbon, ND area until the age of 20. He married Evelyn G. Kennedy at Gary, Minnesota on January 3, 1939. They lived in Gary, Minn until 1949 when they moved to Dell Rapids, SD. In 1955 he and his family moved to Aberdeen, SD where he managed Servall Towel and Linen Supply until his retirement in 1986. In 1993 he and his wife moved to Albuquerque, NM where he resided until his death. Leslie started golfing after his retirement at the age of 65. On May 24, 1988, at the age of 79, he got his first hole-in-one. On March 26, 2000, he got his second hole-in-one, at the age of 81. All his family and friends wanted to golf with him, but only to try and beat him. Many tried but many failed. Family members surviving Mr. Hoyt include his wife of 63 years, Evelyn of Albuquerque; his dog Bubba; three sons, Richard Hoyt of Palm Desert, CA, Loren Hoyt of Albuquerque, NM, Larry Hoyt and wife, April of Burlington, Kentucky; six daughters, Patricia Giese of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon Castro and husband, Andy of Riverside, CA, Jan Dehne and husband, Richard of Hecla, SD, Lois (Dodie) Wagemann and husband, Darwin of Albuquerque, NM, Dixie Johnson and husband, Dennis of Goodwin, SD and Penny Louder and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, NM. Leslie had 36 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and two son-in-laws, Laurel Rott and Rev. Raymond Giese. Pallbearers are grandsons, Mike Huber of Redding, CA, Eddie Rott of Lakewood, CA, Mark Hoyt of LaQuinta, CA, Jamie Dehne of Miami, FL, Mark Giese of Santa Fe, NM, Kirk Hoyt of Burlington, KY, Mitch Huber of Albuquerque, NM and Shaun McPartland of Albuquerque, NM, Rodney Dehne of Spearfish, SD, and Bill Hoyt of Burlington, KY. Honorary pallbearers are all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd., NW (3 Blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) with Rev. Harold Johnson, presiding. Mosier -- Barbara Alfreda Mosier, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Russell and husband, Les Russell and Linda Felter and husband, Ed Felter, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Shawna Troxell of Rio Rancho, Shea Russell of Springer, NM and Brenna Felter of Albuquerque; grandsons, Curt Russell of Albuquerque and Brett Felter of California; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Mosier in 1989. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 15, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Pastor Lemuel M. Romero -- Anna Marie Romero, 67, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, April 13, 2002. She is survived by her husband, William of the family home; son, Bill Joe Romero of Albuquerque; daughters, Cheryl Romero Brown and husband, Joe, and Celeste Romero, granddaughters, Michelle Brown, and Roberta Moree; grandsons, Daniel Brown, Sammy Brown, Matt Moree and Dylan Moree; great-grandson, William Dante Susco; brother, Jake Perea and wife, Carmen; and sister, Flora Perea of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her mother Eloisa Perea, her sister, Molly Perea, and her brother, Joe Perea. Mrs. Romero was a member of the El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church. She worked for Maternity and Infant Care Project for 16 years and retired from there. She touched many hearts and will be greatly missed. Services will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Reverend Jesus Bermudez officiating. Wood -- Willie E. "Woody" Wood, Jr., age 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. He was born in Santa Fe, NM on December 11, 1926 and had resided in Albuquerque since returning from serving his country during World War II. He worked for Albuquerque Gravel Products for 33 years as a mechanic, welder and dispatcher. Woody was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Wood and by one son, Gerald Wood. He is survived by one son, Richard Wood and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; three daughters, Charrie Waters and husband, Ken of Plano, TX, Wendy Lewis and husband, Ron of Belen, and Drucilla Pickard of Albuquerque; two sisters, Arneita O'Brien and husband, Virgil of Rio Rancho and Drucilla Bailey and husband, Bob of Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2002 at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Chapel of Sandia with Pastor Ray Jaramillo of Calvary Chapel of Belen, officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Axline -- Agnes Axline, 86, died April 12, 2002 at Infinia of McPherson, KS. She was born February 1, 1916 at Forrest City, KS, the daughter of Lee and Louis Strickland Nurse. She was a lifetime Barber County resident also living in Norfork, AR for 10 years. She was a teacher for over 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, past member of the retired teachers association, member of the women's society of Christian Service and also sang in the church choir. She tutored at Medicine Lodge Primary School after retirement. On November 23, 1943 she married Robert M. Axline at Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, he died June 24, 1986. Survivors include a son Robert Axline, Jr., of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter Pam Shoemaker of McPherson, KS; two sisters Virginia Cummins, of Medicine Lodge, KS and Thelma Chatham, of Elka Park, NY; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 16, 2002 at the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, KS. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery Medicine Lodge. Memorials may be made to Agnes Axline Memorial Scholarship or to the United Methodist Church in care of Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, 120 E. Barela -- Tomas Barela, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away April 12, 2002. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Florez and husband, Raul of Albuquerque and Annette Medina and husband, Patrick of Los Lunas; son, Silviano Garcia of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Andrew, Gabriel, Joseph, Justin, Genell, Mathew, Crystal, Freddie, Nicholas and Jeremy; brothers, Silverio Barela, Amador Barela and wife, Isabelita, Lorenzo Barela and wife, Mary; sisters, Margie Barela, Mena Sandoval and husband, Damacio, Louisa Rudolfo and husband, Valerio, Aurelia Gutierrez and husband, Eloy; and former wife, Elvira Montoya. Tomas was a loveable guy who cared for everybody. He was a terrific father and enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Barela was an avid hunter and loved the great outdoors of New Mexico. A Rosary will be held Sunday, April 14, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona SE with Deacon Pat Kneafey, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 15, 2002, 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Ghost with Fr. Thomas Mayefske, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Burgin -- Vivian"Burgie" Burgin, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1937, died on Saturday April 6, 2002, at the Albuquerque Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by one sister, Faye Hall of Kimberling City, MO; daughter, Bobbie Felty and husband, Darrell of NM; son, Edward Burgin and wife, Inge of Kaiserslautern, Germany; son-in-law, Raymond Rose of NM; six grandchildren, Rick Rose of Belen, NM, Gary Shepperd and wife, Barbara of Aurora, CO, Debra Cloud and husband, Maurice of Denver, CO, Randy Rose and wife, Theresa of South Webber, UT, Jeff Burgin and wife, Tayna, and Heidi and her husband, Michael Goedtel, all of Kaiserslautern, Germany; and ten great-grand children. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lonnie"Short" Burgin, her daughters Billye Joanne Rose, a sister Urshal Keaton and brothers Harmon Davenport and Gene Davenport. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Carlton -- Cary Carlton was born in 1911 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Jasper Clai and Eva Dale Carlton. He died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 peacefully in his sleep with his daughter and grandson at his side. Cary grew up in Hope, Arkansas. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, with a degree in accounting in 1932. His life's work was with the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he served as a Special Agent for 35 years. He loved his game of tennis which he played until he was 82. His tenacity and timely dink were feared and admired by many an opponent. But his true love was his family and the community in which he lived. He was married for 54 years to Mary Jane Cammerzell who died in 1995. Cary and Mary Jane had three children and eight grandchildren: Clai and his wife, Noni of Honolulu, Hawaii, and their children, Mary Helen and Fred; Clai's daughter, Sarah Teiman, M.D. and husband, Jeff of Bloomington, Indiana, Steve and wife, Dale of Orange, Texas, and their children, Eryn Lucas and husband, Brian of Tallahassee, Florida, and Brint of Austin, Texas, and Susie Cheney and husband, Briggs, of Albuquerque and their children, Zach, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Molly of Seattle, Washington, and Clayton. Cary was an elder and servant to the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, a member emeritus of the Tennis Club of Albuquerque, a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque Boys and Girls Club where he was recognized with that organization's highest honors and a faithful volunteer to Meals on Wheels and The Storehouse. Cary was dedicated to the youth of Albuquerque and he requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Albuquerque Boys and Girls Club, 3333 Truman NE, 87110. Cook -- Kathrine H. Cook, 39, a resident of Sandia Park, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 3:09 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Bryan E. Cook; son, Bryan C. J. Cook; daughter, Nicole A. Cook, all of Sandia Park; parents, Magdaleno and Priscilla Garcia of Albuquerque; sisters, Janet M. Gonzales and husband, William Chris, and Michele L. Garcia and fiancé, Kris James, all of Albuquerque; grandparents, Helen Gonzales and Roger Gonzales, both of Albuquerque; nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.
