Mcclure -- Fred H. McClure, November 26, 1917 - November 27, 2002. He is survived by his brother, John; sister-in-law, Cornelia; sister, Mary of Albuquerque; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Detroit, MI, he lived and was educated in Cleveland, OH until 1956, when he moved to California. He was valedictorian of his class at Cathedral Latin High School in 1935 and, after service in WWII, he graduated Magna-Cum-Laude from John Carroll University in 1953, and received a Master's Degree from Western Reserve University in 1956. His business career extended from 1936 to 1953, when he began to teach at John Carroll University. He moved to California where he taught at Foothill Junior College for 30 years. His military service began when he enlisted in October 1941. He spent time overseas in Hawaii in the Infantry and in England as a Supply Officer in the Air Force. He returned to the U.S. in 1945 and joined the Air Force Reserves. His rank at death was that of Lt. Col., Ret. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Thursday, December 5, 2002, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Thursday, at 2:00 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

O'brien -- Amy O'Brien, 35, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Padilla and husband, Jonathan of Rio Rancho; son, Dillon Peet of Los Lunas; granddaughter, Ladessa Padilla of Rio Rancho; parents, John and Nancy O'Brien of Albuquerque; sisters, Rooney O'Brien and Maureen Paczkowski and husband, Brian, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Chris O'Brien and wife, RaChelle of Lake Jackson, TX and Tim O'Brien of Denver, CO; niece and nephews, Shilo O'Brien, Katelin O'Brien, Sean O'Brien and Cullen O'Brien; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by Dr. David Dalise and David Peet. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Padilla -- Anita"Annie" Padilla, 72, a resident of Jarales, NM, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at an Albuquerque hospital. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She worked as a nurses-aid for the Belen General Hospital, which later became Belen Presbyterian Hospital, and retired after 32 years of outstanding service. Her specialty was taking care of newborn babies and their mothers for many years. Until her passing, she was always approached by many thankful mothers who she had helped through their pregnancy and delivery for the kindness and gentleness shown to them. Anita and her husband, Jacob, willingly made many sacrifices needed to see that their children were well educated. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Jacob Padilla in 1991. Anita is survived by her loving children, Ted and wife, Theresa of Albuquerque; Edwin and wife, Kathy; Veronica Padilla; and Yvonne McCloud and husband, Randal, all of Jarales; six granddaughters, Jessica Padilla; Colleen Padilla Hanley and husband, Kieran; Kimberly Padilla; Geneva Padilla Carter and husband, Carey; Carrie McCloud; and Frances Padilla; three grandsons, Robert Elvidge Padilla and wife, Melissa; Diego McCloud; and Jacob Padilla; four great-granddaughters, Rosa Padilla; Caitlyn and Kiera Hanley; and Brooklynn Carter; one brother, Pete Maldonado and wife, Sharon of Roswell, NM; four sisters, Ruth Haway of Albuquerque; Antonia Kincanna and husband, Fred of Rosemead, CA; Juanita Aragon of Tome, NM; and Emma Castaneda and husband, Carlos of Jarales; and her very special comadre, Tomasita Valdez and husband, Ramon of Torreon, NM. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. in Romero Funeral Home with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 12:00pm in Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Belen Memorial Garden. Ruelas -- Edward Ruelas, age 32, of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2002. He was born on October 24, 1970 to Guadalupe Ruelas and Alexandria. He is survived by his only child, Edward Ruelas Jr., whom he loved very much; mother, Alexandria; brothers and sister; and many relatives and friends. Shaw -- Mark H. Shaw, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, November 30, 2002. He was born to Brad O. Shaw and Barbara Rae Shaw in Albuquerque. Mark was raised in Albuquerque graduating from Highland High School in 1962. He attended the University of New Mexico earning his BA in 1967 and Juris Doctor from UNM School of Law in 1969. Mark practiced law in Albuquerque for twelve years before moving to California where he presided as CEO of the United Church of Religious Science for nine years. He returned to New Mexico in 1991 to resume his law practice. Mark was a member of numerous professional associations including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and the Society for Non-Profit Corporations. He was also listed in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in California, and Who's Who in the West and was listed in the International Directory of Biographies. A beloved husband, exemplary father, and loyal friend, Mark will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Roslyn Shaw; children, LCDR Daniel Paul Shaw, XO, USS McCampbell DDG85, Kathleen Ann Blakely, Brian Andrew Shaw, Rebecca Rae Kenny, and Amanda Leith Shaw, all of Albuquerque. Mark was the proud grandfather of¯ ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and father, his older brother, Richard, and his niece, Deborah Ann Shaw. Mark made his transition after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2002, 1:00 p.m., at First Church of Religious Science, 3320 San Pedro NE. Flowers may be sent to the church. Sloman -- Alison Sloman, 40, of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 19, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Louise and her mother, Bente Busch Spann, both of Albuquerque; her father, Edwin Sloman; twin sister, Bettina Lynn and brother, Eric Sloman, all of Washington, D.C. area. Alison was a Real Estate agent with Coldwell Banker Legacy. She was also an avid equestrian; Alison rode eventing horses in France where she resided for 10 years before moving to Albuquerque A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at St. Peters the Apostle in Queenstown, Maryland. She was laid to rest at St. Peter's in Queenstown. A Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque on Friday, December 6, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., 3301 Juan Tabo NE, in the main meeting room. The family has requested donation be made in lieu of flowers to The Assistance League's"Operation School Bell" at 529 Chama NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.

Suffern -- Agnes E. Suffern, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Annette Frank and husband, John of Fenton, MO and Judith Toensing and husband, Maynard of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Maynard Toensing, Jr. and wife, Shelley, Faith Kuchar and husband, Brian, Andrew Toensing, Jennifer Frank and Jonathan Frank; two great-grandsons, Steven and Jacob Toensing; and sister, Ingrid Ericson of Albuquerque. Mrs. Suffern was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Suffern. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, 1:00 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Ave. SE, with Pastor Randy Walquist officiating. Valverde -- Abel T. Valverde, Jr., 36, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away November 30, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Valverde; parents, Abel, Sr. and Connie Valverde of Moriarty; brother, R. Michael Valverde and wife, Catherine of Moriarty; grandmothers, Anita Gonzales of Artesia and Marina Valverde of Tucumcari; friend, Shana Giesler of Albuquerque; girlfriend, Luwanna McCant; and numerous cousins. Abel was a member of Local Electrical Union 611, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and a very loving son, father and brother. A rosary will be Thursday, December 5, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Moriarty. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 6, 2002, 11:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of Mt. Wolff -- Maurice Wolff was born in Brooklyn, NY, November 7, 1921, graduated from Brooklyn Tech, served in World War II in the U.S. Army in England, France, Belgium and Germany and worked as an architect in New York City in part of the design of the World Trade Center and other major city buildings. A member of the American Institute of Architects, he studied painting at the Art Students League in NYC and sculpture after moving to Albuquerque, NM, in 1993. He was active in the Duke City Bridge Club for the past nine years. He died on Monday, December 2, in the Hospice unit of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Bretta Weiss Wolff; daughters, Anita Orenzow and Joanne Wolff; grandsons, Jeffrey and Michael Orenzow, stepdaughters, Lee Weiss Maniolas, Sara Weiss, Emily Smith; and stepgranddaughter, Nikki Maniolas. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, at the First Unitarian Church, Carlisle and Comanche Avenues, in Albuquerque at 4:45 p.m.

Wright -- Essie Pearl Wright, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Dr. William F. Wright, Sr. of Albuquerque; her son, Dr. William F. Wright, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Hobbs, NM; her daughter, Teresa Clack and husband, Robert of Florissant, MO; and two grandchildren, John and Jenna Clack. She was born on March 5, 1920 to Matthew and Martha Frost and was raised in St. Bernice, Indiana.¯Essie was the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1938 and Terre Haute Business College in 1939. In the fall, Essie went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, where she met Bill, her husband-to-be. She earned two bachelor degrees, a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Business, while serving initially as the college presidents secretary and later as Business Manager and Treasurer for the college.¯ She also taught classes at Olivet. Essie earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught business classes at Monon High School in Indiana from 1949 to 1952. In August of 1952, Essie and Bill moved to Albuquerque to start careers with the Albuquerque Public School system. Essie taught at Albuquerque High's Evening School and in the Business Department of the University of New Mexico. By 1960, Essie was committed to her role as a full-time mother and wife. After Bill Jr. and Teresa left for college, Essie devoted herself to the full-time service of others. She especially loved to care for the elderly who were confined to their homes. In 1972, Essie began volunteering at the Senior Meal Site at Harwood United Methodist Church.¯The site later moved to the Church of Christ located on North Fourth Street. This program was taken over by the North Valley Senior Citizens Center in 1980, where Essie continued to volunteer. In the fall of 2000, she was honored for a total of 28 years of service to the North Valley Community. For over 50 years, Essie has been a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene. She was also active in the WCTU.¯Essie was an avid reader and writer. The Bible and devotionals daily guided her life. Having always put God first in her life, Essie's family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served. Services will be held Saturday, December 7th, 11:00 a.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. William B. Nielson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
