DOMINGUEZ -- Lawrence A. Dominguez, age 42, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003. Lawrence is survived by is wife, Jacquie; stepsons, Tai and Shawn Marron; his mother, Felima L. Dominguez; sister, Anne D. Rutt; brother, Samuel F. Dominguez and wife, Judy; sister, Felima T. Dominguez and her partner, Valerie A. Cordova. Lawrence is also survived by nieces, Camilla L. Dominguez and Marta F. Dominguez; nephew, Samuel F. Dominguez, III.; and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Lawrence was an accomplished musician and was well-known in the Albuquerque and international music scene. He had been a member of local group, Strawberry Zots and was also an accomplished flamenco guitarist, having released a number of CD's. He was "Lightening Lar" on Big Oldies 98.5 and recently worked in audio production for KOB TV Channel 4. He was loved and will be missed. Family and friends will pray the Rosary Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. A Jewish Memorial Service followed by a meal will be held Friday, September 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb presiding. Both services will be held at Congregation Nahalat Shalom, 3606 Rio Grande NW, Albuquerque. Donations in lieu of flowers to Sephardic Heritage Fund to the above address will be appreciated.

HOLT -- Roy Dewayne Holt, 48, a resident of Cedar Crest for 14 years, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Holt; son, Matthew Holt; daughters, Bethany Holt and Jessica Holt all of Cedar Crest; brothers, Dale Holt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ron Holt of Loveland, Colorado, Don Holt of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Ken Holt of Raytown, Missouri; sister, Billie Francis of Easton, Missouri; and numerous nephews and nieces. Roy was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Earnel and Mildred Holt and was the fourth of six children. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and worked many years for Bendix/Allied Signal also in Kansas City. Roy married Melanie Beenken on June 24, 1989 and shortly after their marriage he accepted a position with Sandia National Labs in New Mexico. He helped to organize Creation Science Fellowships in Kansas City and Albuquerque. Roy loved to share the scientific evidence of creation in churches and other forums. He was a wonderful loving Husband and Daddy. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2003, at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway Blvd NE., with Reverend Steve Taylor, officiating. Interment will be in Iowa. JOHNSON -- Billy George (Frosty) Johnson a former resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully in Carpinteria, California on Sunday, September 21, 2003 after a long illness. Bill was born in Olney, Texas on July 24, 1941, but grew up in Artesia, New Mexico. After graduating from high school in Artesia, he attended New Mexico Highlands University. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve. During the late 60's Bill moved to Albuquerque and worked as a medical technician. He became active in numerous civil rights organizations; he was a longtime member of the NAACP, and a founding member of both the Albuquerque Black Coalition and the New Mexico Black Leadership Conference. He set up the first African American cultural exhibits at the New Mexico State Fair, which has evolved into the present day African American Pavilion. Bill has received numerous awards for his tireless work in promoting equal opportunity for all people. He is survived by his loving mother, Lilly Johnson-Childress; and sister, Joella Redmon, both of Albuquerque; six children, Lilly Meadows and Jomantha Johnson of Albuquerque, Bill and Jelicia Johnson of Denver, Airman First Class William Johnson, Hulbert Air Force Base in Florida, and Weljar Johnson of Carpinteria, CA; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Billy Johnson of Artesia, and his sister, Armanda Lewis of Albuquerque. Seaside Services will be held in California on Saturday, September 27, 2003. KELSO -- William Merrill Kelso, 94, of Creston, Iowa, died of congestive heart failure September 16, 2003, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Services were held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2003 at Gay and Ciha Funeral Home, 2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Sauser, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Creston, officiated the service in Iowa City. Burial was at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Creston. The Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., Creston, has charge of local arrangements. Mr. Kelso, son of Louisa May (Leonard) and Morris W. Kelso, was born July 24, 1909, in Johnson County, Iowa. He farmed near Iowa City in the Lone Tree, Iowa area. He married Marguerite C. (Barnhart) Finley. They moved to Idaho where he worked in the insurance business. They lived in Albuquerque, N.M., 40 years where he worked in the insurance and financial consulting business. After he retired from the insurance business, he was self employed. They moved to Creston 3 1/ 2 months ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, then a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene, both in Albuquerque, N.M. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Kelso of Creston; three children, Mary Lou (husband Milton) Bates of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dennis (wife Velma) Kelso and Jane Ann Kelso, all of Iowa City, Iowa; four stepchildren, Dorothy (husband Fredrick) McGinnis of Iowa City, Iowa, June (husband Richard) Madsen of Coralville, Iowa, Richard (wife Stephani) Finley of Creston, Iowa and Sharon (husband Robert) Viramontes of Summerville, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nila; a son, Dean William Kelso; and a brother, Leonard John Kelso.

KIMMEL -- Agatha Gay Kimmel, age 63, of Albuquerque, formerly of Syosset, New York died after a short illness on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in Wilmington, Delaware. Ms. Kimmel was born August 11, 1940. She graduated from the Hewlett School East Islip, Long Island, New York and with honors from the Katherine Gibbs School. Ms. Kimmel was a banking officer for many years culminating as Vice President with J.P. Morgan/Chase in 1991. She opened Garden Gate in Albuquerque, then moved on to serve as Business Manager of Hispaniae in Old Town until her final illness. She is survived by her mother, Agatha Gay Hathaway of Charlottsville, Virginia; half sisters, Ann Wyndham Blair de la Rue of Dorking, Surrey, England and Ceceilia Allen Blair of Putney, Vermont; half-brother, Frederick Roberts Blair, Jr. of Austin, Texas; aunt and uncle, Edward R. and Harriott Kimmel of Wilmington, Delaware; nephews, Thomas de la Rue and William Blair; niece, Diana de la Rue and many cousins in Wilmington, Delaware; Annapolis, Maryland; McLean, Virginia; Rock Hill, South Carolina; Wilson, Wyoming; and Palo Alto, CO. She was the granddaughter of Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and Dorothy K. Kimmel. Her deceased father was Lt. Cmdr. Manning Marius Kimmel, who died in action in the Pacific in 1944. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in the United States Naval Academy Cemetery, Annapolis Maryland. MAHLER -- Renate Mahler, 52, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 15, 2003. She is survived by her mother, Annelise Mahler of Albuquerque and many friends. Her passion in life was arts and crafts. Renate collected early 20th century arts, crafts and home furnishings. She worked for Lovelace Medical Center, University of New Mexico Hospital and Research and Polling Company for several years. PANIAGUA -- Nolasco Paniagua, 88, a resident of Albuquerque died September 18, 2003. He was born in 1915 to Nolasco and Balbina Paniagua. Nolasco enjoyed reading Spanish poetry and literature and also enjoyed painting. Nolasco is survived by his loving wife, Manolita Paniagua; daughter, Maria H. Duffy and husband, Luis; grandchildren, Vivian, Eduardo and Veronica Duffy; and great-grandchild, Alexis Valdez all of Albuquerque. ROMERO -- Polinar Romero, 80, a resident of Peralta, NM, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, September 23, 2003. He was a Veteran of World War II, and was proud to have served his country. He enjoyed passing the time playing cards and playing his harmonica. He was preceded in death by his wife, Racheal Romero. He is survived by his daughter, Esther Jacobs and family; son, Billy Romero and family, both from California; and very special friends and caregivers, Rudy and Yvette Saiz and Family of Peralta, NM. A very special thank you to the VA Hospital, Albuquerque Manor, and Odyssey Hospice for the special care given to Polinar. SENA -- Mrs. Flora C. Griego Sena, 65, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 24, 2003. Mrs. Sena is the beloved mother to five daughters, Arlene Griego and Roger, Jenny Griego, Diane Griego, Rita Sena, Lee Gurule and husband, Lawrence; one son, Floyd Griego. Mrs. Sena is also survived by one sister, Sara Medina and Tranquilano; one brother, Leroy Miera and wife, Debbie; nine grandchildren, David, Regina, Edward, Tanya, Antoinette, Felicia, Bonnie, Kindra and Alicia; nine great- grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sena was preceded in death by two sisters, Victoria and Gloria; her son, Edward; two brothers, Arthur and Milton; two granddaughters, Raquel and Letricia. Mrs. Sena was a member of the Catholic Church. A Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW. A Visitation will be Friday evening after 6:30 p.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino de San Martin SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Brother Antonio Sanfrancesco. SERNA -- Johnny Serna, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 19, 2003. Johnny is survived by one daughter, Stephanie and husband, Pat Garcia; three sons, John Michael and wife, Lupe, Matthew and wife, Rachel, Joseph and wife, Channa; five loving grandchildren, Felicia, Marisa, Patrick, Mark and Joseph Jr.; four brothers and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, Celedon and Clara Serna. Mr. Serna was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam era, and a member of the American Legion. He was an avid musician and always carried his guitar with him. He loved singing "Las Mananitas" for his family and friends on birthdays and holidays. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2003 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Reserve, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery in Reserve, NM. It had always been Johnny's wish to go back home to the ranch in Reserve to be buried next to his mother.
