RIVERA -- Mary Helen Rivera, 63, a longtime resident of Corona, NM, passed away, Sunday November 2, 2003, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born May 27, 1940, in Corona, NM, to Jacinto and Elvira (Baros) Flores. She married Ismael Rivera in Corona, NM, on January 11, 1958. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Ismael Rivera, of Corona, NM; two sons Rick and wife Joan Rivera, of Albuquerque, NM, and James Rivera, of Corona, NM; one daughter Marietta Rivera Gallegos and husband Louis Lopez of Phoenix, AZ; best friend Jessie Garcia; four sisters, Amelia Maldonado, Odellia Tapia, Betty Rael, and Jean Chavez; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A rosary will be recited Tuesday Nov. 4, 2003-7:00 PM & Mass will be celebrated Wednesday November 5, 2003-10:00 AM, both at Ascension Catholic Church, in Albuquerque, NM. Burial will follow at the Corona Cemetery in Corona, NM. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Gallegos, Jason Gallegos, Eric Gallegos, Joey Rivera, Larry Chavez, Randy Maldonado, and Pat Sanchez. RUNGE -- Dr. William "Bill" Runge, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Albuquerque Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bernice, on February 10, 1995. He is survived by is daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bob Geilenfeldt; son, Robert Runge; sister, Laura June Keithly; sister-in-law, Arlene Wardlow; brother-in-law, Myron Schultz; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Paul and Susie Geilenfeldt; and granddaughter, Julene Geilenfeldt. Bill was a respected educator having taught at Albuquerque High School 1940-1946 and at UNM-College of Education 1946-1980. He also recognized the need for "job training" in New Mexico and initiated the first funds for "The TVI" 1976-1986. He was a member of NM Vocational Association, Phi Delta Honorary, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Elks Lodge, and Association of Retired Educators. After retirement he enjoyed family, friends and travel. A memorial service to Celebrate his beautiful life will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. In lieu of flowers, our family requests contributions to, Chester C. SEAY -- Ethel G. Seay, 73, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, loving wife and mother passed away, Saturday, November 1, 2003, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Howard Seay; children, Charlotte Wheeler, Sheryl Tucker and husband, Tuck, Stacy Weber, Carolyn Barrett and Mark Seay and wife, Linda; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was born September 12, 1930 in Albuquerque. She was much loved and respected by her family and many friends. She devoted her life to her husband and children. Her favorite thing was to travel with her husband in their motor home. They saw much of the country together. Services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. WATLAND -- Mildred Watland, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, passed into the arms of her Savior Sunday, November 2, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Roger Watland and wife, Shirlene of Los Lunas, Gary Watland and wife, Beverly, and Michael Watland, all of Merced, CA; daughter, Sharon Beal and husband, John of Forest Grove, OR; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. WILLIAMS -- James L. Williams was born in Sontag, Mississippi August 3, 1935. His parents, James W. and Ollie Williams relocated to Arizona when he was a small child and settled in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he grew up. He attended Whittier College for two years and graduated from Northern Arizona University. He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. Jim accomplished much in his life, mentored others to excel, and made a difference in the communities he lived ( Flagstaff, Phoenix, Seattle, Washington DC, and Albuquerque). Jim was an excellent manager and leader and developed several employment and training organizations. He served as the Associate Director of the Phoenix Urban League, CEO of the Phoenix and Seattle OICs. He valued lifelong learning and "giving back ". Jim had traveled extensively in Europe and Africa, and served on many boards of many organizations, including Board of Trustees, Seattle University, and the Seattle Symphony. At the time of his death the City of Albuquerque employed him; he was originally hired as manager of the city's community centers. He had been the chair of the Amy Biehl Charter School since it's inception. James is survived by his parents Mr. And Mrs. James W. Williams, Flagstaff, AZ; his daughter, Sheri Williams, Seattle, WA; his partner, Bettye Pressley, seven brothers and in-laws, Jesse (Wiley) Glendale, AZ; Charles (Loretta) Dallas, TX; Ray (Pearl) Phoenix, AZ; Mel (Janice) Tempe, AZ; Ernest (Gert) Las Vegas, NV; Johnny (Betty) Chicago, IL; his ex-wife Theola Williams (Seattle); Bettye's siblings and in-laws, Anne Carter Tillman (Elisha) Cincinnati, OH; Dr. Robert V. Carter (Ollie) Birmingham, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Jim's life will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003, 11:00 a.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. CARRILLO -- Mr. Gregorio Carrillo, 91, a resident of Albuquerque formerly of Veguita, passed away on October 31, 2003. Mr. Carrillo is survived by one daughter, Maria Marquez and husband, Bob; one son, Frank Carrillo and wife, Viola; one sister, Laurita Barela; two brothers, Reynaldo Carrillo, and Felimon Carrillo and wife, Esther; four grandchildren, Bobbie Marquez, Richard Carrillo and wife, Denise, Valerie Carrillo, and Lori Carrillo; four great-grandchildren, Brenden Kirk, Matthew, Jessica and Samantha Carrillo; one sister-in-law Teresita Carrillo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Carrillo was preceded in death by his loving wife Isabel; two sisters, Seferina Barela and Eulogia Valles; four brothers, Hipolito Carrillo, Benerito Carrillo, Nicomedes Carrillo and Glumen Carrillo. Mr. Carrillo was a member of the Catholic Church, and a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II with the Headquarters Battery 809th Field Artillery. A visitation for Mr. Carrillo will be Tuesday evening from 6:30pm until 7:00pm in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm by Eileen Montoya. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30am until 10:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, with a Communion Service at 10:00am by Deacon Tibo Chavez. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with full Military Honors by D.A.V. Chapter 3. Pallbearers will be Richard Carrillo, Chris Carrillo, David Carrillo, Raymond Gallegos, Feliz Valles, Eddie Barela. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Carrillo, and Fedilino Carrillo. HISER -- Robert E. Hiser, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Friday, October 31, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane Hiser; children, Bobbi Blass and husband, Ralf of Los Lunas, David Hiser, John Hiser, Angela Shaw and Tammy Grubbs and husband, Roger, all of Indiana and Pam Ulibarri and husband, Michael of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; a brother, Donald Hiser of Texas and sisters, Shirley Sponseller of Indiana and Marie Anderson of Ohio. Mr. Hiser worked eight years at Budget Rental Cars. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Hiser was also a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, 6:00 p.m at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Rev. Don Weakland officiating. KOSTELECKY -- Ray August Kostelecky, 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Thursday, October 30, 2003, from a lingering heart condition. He is survived by his wife of 47 years and 11 months, Pamela Margaret Kostelecky; a sister, Janet and husband, Al; step-daughter, Wendy; sons, Steven and wife, Diana and Derek and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Duane, David, Sarah, Kate, Drew, Matthew, Lucy and Emma; and two cats, Sammy and Sophie. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny. Ray was born in Sargent, Nebraska on September 23, 1932 to August and Gertrude (Peters) Kostelecky. He graduated from Sargent High School in 1949 and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He retired from the Air Force in 1977. Ray worked at the Risk Management Division of the General Services Division of the State of New Mexico from 1977 until retiring in 1995. He enjoyed music, especially country, movies and was a loyal Cornhusker and Cub fan. Services will be held Wednesday, November 5 at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. PERCIFIELD -- Ret. Lt. Colonel James D. Percifield, 88, died on Saturday, November 1, 2003. He served in the Army during the Korean War and World War II. He retired as an Administrator for the Lovelace Foundation. James is survived by his wife, Frances L. Percifield who resides at the Village at Alameda; children, Robert Pulaski and wife, Sarah, of Plano, Texas; Donna L. Zellner and husband, Wayne, of Albuquerque; Jerry Percifield and wife, Judy Hammack, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Barbara Velarde and Glenn Hilgedick, of Longmont, Colorado; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother, Robert Percifield and wife, Inda, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and sister Lois Jean Ursiny of Carmel, Indiana. He will be missed by all. Memorial Services will be on Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. PETERSON -- Charles L. Peterson, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 13 years and former resident of Los Alamos, passed away November 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary L. Peterson of Albuquerque; three sons, Norman C. Peterson and wife, Donna of Fallon, NV, Dana W. Peterson and wife, Anne-Marie of Albuquerque and John L. Peterson and wife, Kay of Greensboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Peterson retired from Los Alamos National Labs after 30 years of employment.
