EGAN -- Ann Egan, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 30 years passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004. Ann was born August 2, 1925 the daughter of Joseph and Angela Manzi DeMaio in Brooklyn, New York. She had been an Administrative Assistant in the banking and insurance industries before she retired. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ann lead a colorful and varied life. She loved life and had a great sense of humor! As an avid dancer and music lover, Ann belonged to the Rio Ramblers square dancing group. She was an avid sports fan who loved following the UNM Lobos. Ann was a score keeper for Little League and she also enjoyed bowling. Ann was instrumental in establishing a recycling program in Rio Rancho. To that end, she was active with KEEP RIO RANCHO BEAUTIFUL, worked at the Public Library and was a hospital volunteer for five years at what is now West Mesa Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Ann was preceded in death by one sister, Julie Devens. She is survived by her husband Thomas of Rio Rancho; four children, Donna Wood and husband Craig of Albuquerque; Kathleen Villarose and husband John of Orlando, FL; Mary Ellen Franklin and husband Dan of Bastrop, FL; Thomas J. Egan and wife Karen of Westin, FL; six grandchildren, Ann-Marie Villarose and Deanna Villarose, Keri and Kristin Franklin, Tyler and Amber Wood; one sister, Theresa Johnston; brother-in-law Edward Devens; sister-in-law Betty Larson; cousins, Dr. Donald Capra, George DeMaio, Lillian and Julia Gulotta, and Vincent Riehl and family; and nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited for Ann on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. ESCOBEDO -- Thomas (Tommy-Quate) Escobedo, age 62, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home by our Heavenly Father and Savior, Monday, May 17, 2004 while surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was born in Gonzales, TX; and was a resident of Albuquerque. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, devoting his faith by serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. Tommy retired from the University of New Mexico after 36 years as Supervisor Teaching Lab. He was the owner and operator of Escobedo Thomas and Sons Construction Co. He was a "hard worker" who really enjoyed working with his hands. He was a very loving and giving man, who loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Petra Escobedo; his twin brother, Valentine and two other brothers, Johnny and Lupe; and one sister, Florita Escobedo. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dolores (Lola) Escobedo of the family home; his precious children, Veronica Mora and husband Jeff of Bernalillo, Jeff Escobedo and wife Monica of Albuquerque, Miguel Duran of Bernalillo, Tommy Rodarte and wife Charlene of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Daniel Martinez and Joseph Escobedo. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Joseph Duran and wife Roseanna; his brothers and sisters, Mary Ann Borgues and husband Roberto, Abel Escobedo and wife Mary Louse, Alice Gomez and husband Jessie, Roland Escobedo and wife Sue, Frances Martinez, Louis Escobedo, Ernest Escobedo and wife Carmen, Sylvia Casares and husband Jack, Maggie Barrera and husband John, and Sandra Stovall all of Texas; numerous other beloved family members and friends. Tommy will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd., NW. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with Fr. Ramon Aragon as celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luis Jaramillo, Leo Chavez, Sr., Leroy Esquivel, Joseph Duran, Tommy Dominguez, and Lary R. Lenke. Honorary bearers will be Leo Chavez, Jr., and Mike Riojas. GARCIA -- Fred "Pofie" Garcia a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 14, 2004. GARCIA -- Mrs. Juanita Garcia died Monday, May 17, 2004 in Albuquerque at the age of 88. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her daughter, Frances Martinez; sons, Nick J. Garcia and wife Shirley, and Joe M. Martinez and wife Vivian; Eleven grandchildren; and Thirteen great-grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Josephine L. Garcia, and Sisters; Margaret G. Whitney and Josephine G. Salazar. A Rosary for Mrs. Garcia will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. GRISWOLD -- Gilbert Ripley Griswold, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died on Saturday, May 15, 2004 in La Vida Llena Health Care, in Albuquerque. Mr. Griswold is survived by daughters, Miriam Schroeder of San Diego, CA, Martha Griswold of Berkley, CA, and Annette Griswold of Greenbush, WI; four grandchildren; one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Laura Fast Griswold. Mr. Griswold was born in Greenport, NY on October 3, 1911, the middle son of Clyde and Grace Griswold. He moved to Raton, NM at the age of ten and had been a New Mexico Resident ever since. G.R. Griswold received two Bachelors of Science degrees from NM Tech in the fields of mining engineering and metallurgy. During the years of 1933-39, Mr. Griswold was a topographic engineer with the US Geological Survey, mapping rivers, dam sites, and reservoirs in NM, UT, ID and Montana, as an assayer. He went on to the university of Utah and earned a Master of Science. During World War II he served in the Army and was discharged a full colonel in the Army Reserve. Mr. Griswold was president of Chapman, Wood and Griswold, consulting mining engineers and geologists, with offices in Albuquerque, Africa, Australia, and Canada. He was a member of many mining organizations and a Rotarian. Services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2004 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd N.E. LUNDGREN -- Dr. David Lundgren, 72, has gone fishing with Jesus. He was a very loving father and grandfather, who endlessly gave words of encouragement and support in times of need. He moved to Albuquerque in 1964 to pursue a career that he loved as a Microbiologist specializing in inhalation toxicology at ITRI where he worked for over 30 years. He is survived by his children Kent, Courtney, Wendy, Robyn and Mike. Grandchildren Faith, Cody, Lainie, Donovan, Mindie, David, Megan, A.J., E.J., and Jolene, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Edrie Harrington, her husband Tom, brother Doug and his wife Laurie, and best friend Eva. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services were held Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. Albuquerque, NM, with Chaplain Fabian Gagon officiating. NUNN -- Gladys Bell Nunn, 86, of Paris, TX died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, in Heritage Care Center. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Norman officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home. She was born Gladys Jones on November 28, 1917, in Fannin County, the daughter of Sherman B. and Barbara Savage Jones. She married Raymond E. Nunn on August 15, 1980. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a charter member and she was one of the three Licensed Practical Nurses to start the LPN Association of New Mexico and of the State Board of Nursing. She was the founding Vice President of the LPN Association of New Mexico. She was a member of Reno Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lonnie Jones, Melvin Jones and S.E. Jones; a sister, Maxine Jane Howdeshell; and her husband, Raymond Nunn. Survivors include her sons, Ralph C. Maroney of Spanaway, Wash. and Stanley E. Bell of Wilmer; step-son, Glenn Bell; daughter, Jo Ann Bell Combe of Littleton, Colo.; stepdaughter, Ruth Bell Stevens of Amarillo; brothers, S.B. Jones of Spring, Finis T. Jones of Magnolia and J.C. Jones of Honey Grove; sister, Lucile Jones of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters-in-law, Effie Jones of Honey Grove, Juanita Jones of Paris and Joyce Jones of Oklaunion; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. ROBENS-NING -- Christine Robens-Ning, 54, of Albuquerque passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, after a nine month battle with cancer. She was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1950. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jimmy Ning; daughters, Jennifer Vallejos and husband, Alex Jr. and Kari Howell and husband, Zack; stepchildren, Natasha and Jason Ning; mother, Evelyn Carlson; siblings, Bill Robens and wife, Kathryn, Bob Robens, Kathy Robens and husband, David Goldman, and Susan Brannon; in-laws, Mary Chang, Vickie Tusiri, Judy Parnell, David Ning and partner, Elaine Lehmann, Mike Ning and partner, Sherry Jones and Jack and wife, Judie Ning; grandsons, Mateo and Adelicio Vallejos; her close family included, Francis and Susie Chang, Peter and Isabel Chang, many other nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her good friends, Frank and Kathleen Marchi. ROMERO -- Cajetan "Cajey" Romero, 50, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Benerita "Bennie" Romero; sons, Cajey Romero, Jr., Joaquin Romero, Manuel Romero and Jason Rodarte; daughter, Dalena Romero-Chavez and husband, Leo; mother, Elvera "Vera" Romero; brothers Ed Romero and wife, Liz, Joe Romero and wife, Emma and Manuel Romero and wife, Benita, all of Albuquerque; sisters Barbara Abeyta and husband, Richard, of St. Louis, MO and Loretta Romero-Vigil and husband, Rudy, of Albuquerque and 3 grandchildren, Angelo, Raissa and Ariana. Cajey grew up on a ranch in Colorado, haying, sheep shearing and working all the details of the ranch. He had owned and operated Romero Automotive. Cajey later became Maintenance Director for Gardunos of Mexico. He was a Christian man who attended Calvary Chapel for the past 8 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Harley rider.
