Miller -- Margaret"Margie" Miller, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Saturday, October 16, 1999. She is survived by her son, Jay Miller and wife, Jeanette of Santa Fe; daughter, Janet Williams of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Melissa Barker and husband, Lloyd and Duncan Miller, all of Scottsdale, AZ, Shari Wickham and husband, Larry, and J.R. Williams, all of Las Cruces, and Josette Williams of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Anna Wickham of Las Cruces, and Bella Williams of Albuquerque; and brother, Charles Meyer and wife, Alice of Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Cloyd Miller. Mrs. Miller was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and the Methodist Woman's Organization, and the NM Federation of Women's Clubs. Services will be held Thursday, 4:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. Qualls -- Shirley M. Exter Qualls, born December 15, 1920, passed away early October 19, 1999 after a long illness. She was a native of Albuquerque and the last surviving child of A.J. Exter, pioneer funeral director and humanitarian of the State of New Mexico. She was known widely for her volunteer efforts with disabled and elderly people, as well as her family. She enjoyed watching golf, Jeopardy, and Bob Barker. She was also a talented artist who designed one of the first Harley-Davidson logos. Shirley and her twin sister, Kathryn were talented dancers in their youth and performed at various city events, including the Kimo Theater, Sunshine Theater, and the Albuquerque Little Theater. The Exter twins can also be remembered by the Albuquerque streets, Shirley and Kathryn, which were named after them. She was dearly loved by many friends and family who will miss her quick wit and big smile. She will be laid to rest next to her twin sister, Kathryn Frei, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Atchley and husband, Dan of Albuquerque; grandsons, Tracy Leonard and Cynthia Staat of Rio Rancho and Travis Leonard and Dena Becker of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Trisha Leonard and Frank Troncosa of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Bobby and Mitchell Carrillo of Rio Rancho, Frankie Troncosa and Jesse Troncosa, both of Albuquerque; niece, Patti Scherer and husband, Jack; and great-nephews, Patrick and Christopher; niece, Lori Carroll and great-nephews, Don and Brandon; niece, Barbi Grace and husband, James and great-nieces, Kathryn and Kristina; nephew, Larry Frei and great-nephews, Jason and Bryan, all of Albuquerque; nephews, Robert Exter of California and Lauren Exter of Canada; and cousin, Ken Current and his son, Steve of Lexington, KY. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Valdez -- Manuela"Nellie" Valdez, 93, born April 8, 1906 to Manuel and Refugio Nevarez of Las Cruces, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1999. She is survived by her children, Arthur Valdez and wife, Betti of Dominican Republic, Martin Valdez and daughter, Bobbie Rivera, both of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Elaine Breen and husband, Larry, Rudy Rivera and wife, Georgia, all of Albuquerque, Valoree Lebron and husband, Ricardo, Valinda Valdez, John Valdez, all of the Dominican Republic, Robert Valdez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tom Valdez and wife, Claudia of Atlanta, GA, David Valdez and wife, Cindy of South Lake, TX, Teresa Martin and husband, Billy of Ft. Worth, TX and Vicky Rohana and husband, Salem of Jerusalem, Israel; 16 very special great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Valdez; and ten brothers and sisters. Mrs. Valdez was a devout Catholic and a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and the Queen of Heaven choir. She was involved in many church organizations including Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society, Eucharistic League of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart League. She was a true trooper who survived breast cancer and a hospital stay for spinal meningitis. Always a welcoming hostess, she was a true example of a woman after God's heart. Memorial Rosary will be recited Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE, with Father Johnny Lee Chavez and Deacon Pilar Garcia, Celebrants. Jones -- J. Paul Jones, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, October 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucille O. Jones of Albuquerque; daughters, Paula Margo Jones of Albuquerque, and Yolanda Dawn Jones King and husband, Gary of Moriarty; granddaughter, Tami Traub; grandson, Jonathan Jones, both of Albuquerque; sister, Jewel Stephenson of Visalia, CA; brother, Jack Jones of Durant, OK; brother, Billy Joe Jones of Santa Ana, TX; brother, Sterling Jones of Oklahoma City, OK; and brother, Forrest Jones of Granby, MO. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Barton Jones and granddaughter, Caitlyn Briana King. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Navy for over 26 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Club and VFW. Mr. Jones was very active in the Senior Olympics throughout New Mexico and many other states where he won many awards in various track and field events. He was a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church and he was very active with the Democratic Party in Albuquerque for a number of years. Services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE, with Rev. Dr. C.A. Kennedy and Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Delleney, Vernlan Hall, Lloyd Jones, Dr. Gary King, Ben Chavez, Jim Lohkamp, and Honorary Pallbearer Gov. Storey -- Tod N. Storey, 30 years of age, a resident of Pecos, New Mexico, passed away on October 15, 1999. Tod worked for the New Mexico Game and Fish Department where he was involved in the Bernardo Wildlife Refuge, W.S. Huey Waterfowl Area, 7 Rivers Waterfowl Area, and Lisboa Springs Fish Hatchery projects. He is survived by his wife, Felicia Storey and his son, Tanner and daughter, Qye Storey; his mother, Jeanette March and her husband, Joe; his father, Kenneth Storey; his sisters, Kenna Storey and her son, Whit Storey; and Rena Storey and her son, Calahan Storey. There will be a viewing on Sunday, October 17, 1999 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be on Monday, October 18, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Rambes -- Max"de La Ruca" Rambes, 63, passed away October 14, 1999. Luna -- Emilio Luna, age 86, died Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at his home in Puerto De Luna. He was born June 7, 1913 in Puerto De Luna to the home of Pedro and Paulita Padilla Luna. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Apprentice Seaman. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1944. Emilio married Irene Fajardo in Puerto De Luna in 1934. Emilio worked for the Arch Hurly Conservative District in Tucumcari until his retirement in 1975. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Refuge Parish in Puerto De Luna, where he and Irene had served as mayordomos. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene F. Luna on May 22, 1998; a brother, Frank Luna; and two sisters, Mela Paiz and Epimenia Campos. Survivors include two sons, David Luna and wife, Linda of Santa Rosa, NM, Paul Luna and wife, Grace of El Cajon, CA; a daughter, Oma Gutierrez and husband, Florencio of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maggie L. Martinez of Puerto De Luna and Louisa Chavez of Albuquerque; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999, from Our Lady of Refuge Parish in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, with Father Sotero A. Sena, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Pallbearers will include Donald Gutierrez, Simon Gutierrez, Charlie Mike IV, Leroy Gallegos, Arsenio Gallegos, and Mariano Paiz.
