Thornton -- Frank Thornton went home to his Lord, November 19, 1999, at age 86 1/2. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gwendolene. He had three daughters, Vena Haller and husband, Raymond of Grand Junction, CO, Helen Holt and husband, Bud of Los Lunas, and Mary Higgins of Albuquerque. He had loving grandchildren, Chris Holt of Las Cruces, Bonnie Hausknecht and husband, Bruce of Colorado Springs, CO, Randy Holt and wife, Sharon of Albuquerque, Lonnie Hanzon of Denver, CO, Becky Noll and husband, Michael of Draper, UT, Shari Shaver of Los Lunas, Scott Holt and wife, Terri of Los Lunas, Jean Quintana and husband, John of Rio Rancho, and Charlotte Higgins of Hastings, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Doris Floyd of Lake Havasu, AZ; three nieces and two nephews. Other loved ones are Larry Hanson, Bruce Higgins and Rick Shaver, and many, many friends. Frank loved his church and taught Sunday School to 5th and 6th grades for over 50 years. He sang in the choir and blessed the world with many solos. He served the Lord many years as a layleader. Visitation will be Monday, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sandy Burley officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Gideons or St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, are in charge of arrangements.

Duke -- Marian Laura Carter Duke, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away Sunday, November 4, 1999. She was born July 4, 1912 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, in 1932, and taught elementary school before marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband, local realtor, Walter Thomas Duke; and granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Peterson. She is survived by one son, Lt. Col. Carter Scott Duke (USAF, ret.) and wife, Col. Gail Rogers Duke (USAF); one daughter, Sandy Lethem and husband, Larry of Albuquerque; grandsons, Scott Peterson of Austin, TX and Trevor Peterson of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, Barbara Ashcraft and family of Jackson, MS and Betty Hoisinigton and family of Rio Rancho. She will be lovingly missed by all. Cremation is being arranged by Sunrise Society, (891-8200).

Pacheco -- Manuel"Shore" or"Shortie" Joe Pacheco, 48, a resident of Alameda, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 1999. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Augusta Pacheco and fiance, Rick Mora, and Cynthia Pacheco; his beloved one and only grandson, Jordan; his parents, Augustine and Lydia Pacheco; his sister, Sandra Gutierrez and husband, Michael; his brothers, Robert and wife, Emily, Larry and wife, Liz, Tony and wife, Lily, and Victor and wife, Shelly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Pacheco. Graveside services will be held today, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Deacon Bob Contreras officiating. The DAV Honor Guard will present the Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Nestor Chavez, Lorenzo"Holmes" Montana, Robert Olivares, Rick Mora, Modesto Sanchez, and Damian Garcia. Gonzales -- Sam F. Gonzales, age 75, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died November 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mollie of Albuquerque; daughter, Celene Seebinger and husband, Larry of Albuquerque; sons, Victor Gonzales of Taos, Lorenzo Gonzales and wife, Janice of Colorado, Sam Gonzales of Arizona; sisters, Josephine Silva of Albuquerque, Elma Greene of California; brothers, Robert Gonzales of Belen and Andy Gonzales of Los Lunas; three grandchildren, Josh and Derek Gonzales and Gabriela Seebinger. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Elidio, Ruben and Lorin; three sisters, Mary, Efren and Lucille. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea, and a life member of VFW Post 401. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 18, 1999 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 19, 1999 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Vigil as Celebrant. Givaudon -- Joseph"Jody" Givaudon, age 70, a lifelong resident, died Saturday. He is survived by son, Joe Givaudon and wife, Mary of Spokane, WA; sister, Laura Hunady of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Laureen and Carlene; nephews, Jim and Gary. He was an avid outdoorsman. Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, with Mr. Larry Pierson officiating. Marquez -- Martha M. Marquez, 49 years old, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday November 12, 1999 at her home. Martha is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Paul; her son, Paul, Jr. and his wife, Dora; daughter, Josie and her husband, Ron Lopez and their children, Chlorissa and Jude Lopez, and a daughter Callie. She is also survived by a sister, Jennie and her husband, Donald Baca; brother, Bennie and his wife, Marge as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 1400 Arenal Rd. SW with Father John celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Barnes -- W.E. "Pete" Barnes, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for the past five years, died November 2, 1999 and was laid to rest in Dallas, TX on November 6. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 1/2 years, Mary Barnes; daughter, Brenda Coleman and husband, Dale Coleman; two grandchildren, Vanessa and Phillip Coleman; sister, Dorothy Leeman of Dallas; brothers, N.W. Barnes and J.K. Barnes of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his son, Larry Don. Pete was a veteran of WWII, worked for the Dallas Police Department for 25 years and worked for the Plano School District for 11 years. He was a member of Hella Temple, Keystone Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13 at the First Baptist Church of Alameda. Vallejos -- Lucinda"Grandma Lucy" Vallejos, 71, a resident of Adelino, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Vallejos, in 1984; her son, Milton Vallejos, in 1991; her grandson, Mikey Vallejos; her parents, Crescencio and Beatriz Lucero; brothers, Tobias Fidel and Albert Lucero; sisters, Regina Chavez and Nester Lueras. Lucinda is survived by her four sons, Larry and his wife, Vicki, Salomon and his wife, Patsy, Leroy and his wife, Chrissy, Joseph and his wife, Renee; three daughters, Mary Lou Montano and her husband, Jr., Amy Montano and her husband, Andy, Patricia Padilla and her husband, Carl; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a very special aunt, Mela Jaramillo; two brothers, Felix Lucero and his wife, Stella and Florian Lucero and his wife, Felis; one sister, Lina Chavez. Lucinda is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 9:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. Interment will follow in the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lynette, Rudy, Leroy Jr., and Michael Vallejos, Dominic Padilla and Misty Montano.
