TAPIA -- JUAN DE DIOS On November 28, 1917, Juan De Dios entered this world to the home of Antonio and Eloisa Tapia. On February 11, 2012 he completed his journey on earth and entered eternal life with the Lord. He is survived by daughters, Gloria R Pearcy and husband Art Sr., Rosemarie Romero and husband Tito; five grandchildren, Art Jr., John, Francisco, Johnny, and Victoria; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vicente Tapia and wife, Cornelia, Onesimo Tapia; two sisters, Carolina Griego, Trinnie Sisneros and husband, Orlin; two sisters-in-law, Ida Madril and Rose Sullivan and husband, Thomas; two brothers-in-law, Leo Nieto and wife, Jan and Eloy Duran along with many other family members and friends. Juan was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Luisa, three infant children; one infant grandson; four brothers, Honorato, Jose, Arturo and Luis. He served his country in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre. Juan was a Rancher and Postmaster in Pastura, NM, and retired from JC Penney. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel. Rosary, recited by Suellen Sullivan, will immediately follow the visitation. Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 17, 2012, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Pastura, NM. SHISHMAN -- HEDDA SYLVIA A resident of Albuquerque since 1984, died on December 20, 2011, eight days shy of turning 98. She was preceded in death by Andre (Bandi), her beloved husband of 65 years. She is survived by daughter Ildy Shishman Rolfs and husband Ells; son Tom Shishman and wife Marsha; four grandsons, Scott Shishman and wife Debbie of Bristol IN, Mike Shishman and wife Courtney of Chicago IL, Greg Shishman of Seattle WA, Tim Rolfs of Albuquerque; six great-grandchildren, and many extended family members. Hedda leaves behind cousins, nieces and nephews in Hungary, Romania and Australia. Born Hedda Sylvia Pay'r on December 28, 1913 in Budapest, Hungary. She met Andre when they were teenagers; they were married on October 3, 1936. They left Hungary with their son in December 1944, escaping to Germany where they lived for seven years. In 1951 the family, now including a daughter, immigrated to Virginia. Hedda and Andre lived in Virginia until retiring in Albuquerque in 1984. Hedda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a proud Hungarian. She was fluent in Hungarian, German and English, as was her exceptional sense of humor. She held a vast correspondence with family and friends throughout the world, was an avid reader, and an exemplary homemaker, maintaining a tri-culture cuisine to her friends' delight. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria NE, Albuq., with Fr. Johnny Lee Chavez presiding. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions in Hedda's name be made to Barrett House, 10300 Constitution NE, Albuq NM 87112 or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 4301 4th NW Albuq NM 87107. Cremation has taken place. The world was a better place while Hedda was with us. Your family and many friends will miss you forever. May you rest in God's Eternal Peace.

SISNEROS -- GILBERT Age 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the VA Hospital. He was born in Moses, New Mexico on December 29, 1935, to Juan and Tomasita A. Sisneros. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan D. Sisneros, mother, Tomasita A. Sisneros and sister Ernestine Trujillo. Gilbert is survived by his children, Victor, Roy, Richard Sisneros, and Hollie Cruz; sisters, Cornelia Martinez, Martha Sisneros and Beatrice Maynes; brothers, George, Johnny, and Paul Sisneros; ex-wife Sabina Sisneros; and 10 grandchildren who he loved dearly. Gilbert proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was an amazing person and lived a great life. Gilbert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. SANCHEZ -- EUGENE BARELA Went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Susie Sanchez, and two brothers, Toby and Alex. He is survived by his children, Marie and husband Jay Martinez, Geno Jr. (Heno), April, Joe and Larry; grandsons, Donovan, Daniel and Cristian; two sisters, Frances and husband Johnny, Lorrie and husband David; one brother, Floyd and wife Roma; Janet Sanchez; Rose Velarde; uncle Tranquelino Barela; brothers and sisters-in-laws Eloy, Robert, Roberta, Yolanda, Lucille, Della Trujillo-Mora, Helen and Toby Sanchez; and many more family and friends. Geno served his country in the US Army and retired from the State of NM Corrections. Special thanks to Jonathon Alderete for the care and compassion given to Geno. Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, followed by burial at 1:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. SANDOVAL -- ETHEL BERTA A lifelong resident of Tijeras, age 75, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She lost a short battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 14, 1936 to Jacobo and Margarita Armenta. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Gilbert Sandoval; one son, Gilbert Sandoval Jr. (Robyn); five daughters, Marcella (Johnny Griego), Vera (Danny Jaramillo), Linda Sandoval, Sandra (Kevin Berget) and Clara (Stan Benavidez); 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Pauline (Gilbert Torres), Kathryn Palmer and Kathleen Cervantes; her six Armenta brothers, Joe (Rosie), Bobby (Vivian), Jake (Daisy), Matt, (Teresa), Clarence (Linda) and Daryl; and one brother-in-law, Mariano Sandoval. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Yolanda Armenta. From 1961-1969 Ethel along with Gilbert owned and operated Gil's Market in Tijeras. She worked for The Core of Engineers as an inspector for many years. In 1973 she was instrumental in the incorporation of The Village of Tijeras then served as a council member and worked as a bookkeeper for The Village of Tijeras for 17 years. In 1998 she retired and helped establish Gil's Bobcat Services. Ethel's social concerns were with her parish; Holy Child, where she was involved with the Blue Army and St. Vincent de Paul. Ethel made time for an hour of Adoration every Thursday and prayed the Rosary daily. Viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at John XXIII Catholic Community Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 11, 2012, 10:00 a.m., also at John XXIII. Interment will follow at Tijeras Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Abeyta, Christopher Jaramillo, Robert Berget, Gilbert Sandoval III, Shawn Berget, Gavin Benavidez and Marcus Armenta. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carlos Sandoval, Travis Davis, Jonah Adams, remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren. GARCIA -- SAMMY Age 55 born on September 6, 1956 went to be with our Lord and Savior on Febuary 4, 2012. He went peacefully with his family around him. He is preceded in death by his father Senovio Garcia. He is survived by his beloved mother Marie Garcia, four brothers Michael, Ronald, Johnny and his wife Fatima, Phillip and sister Irene. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all. He loved spending time with his family and going hunting with his brother Johnny, his passion was cooking. Pallbearers will be Andrew, Mikey, Rigo, Matthew Garcia, Robert Quintana and Adrian Montoya. Memorial services will be held at Holy Child Perish in Tijeras. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 7th, 9 to 10am, Rosary from 10 to 10:30am and mass will follow. May he rest in peace with our beloved Christ and the angels. Sam will be missed dearly but NEVER FORGOTTEN.

LANCOT -- IRENE J Age 84, lived most of her life in Albuquerque, NM but was a resident of Fairview Heights, IL where she passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012. She is survived by her sons, Johnny Lanctot and Anthony Lanctot. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Lanctot; and son, Edward Lanctot. Her journey with Maurice started with a blind date, which led to letters and phone calls while he was stationed with the military in Alaska. When Maurice returned home they were married and Irene left her hometown of Bernalillo to spend the next three years on a military base in North Africa. She was a devoted wife to Maurice. He taught her how to drive in Tripoli, Libya and took her all over the world. After her husband, Maurice died she joined Furr's Cafeteria, where she was the dining room supervisor for almost 15 years. Irene was the one who circled the dining room with her coffee cart and made sure that your water was filled and that your coffee was nice and warm. After she retired, she spent her time gardening - she had a green thumb and could grow beautiful roses from a bush grown from a half dead stick. Irene had a way with dogs and cats and loved them as a part of her family. She enjoyed baking and could make the best Biscochitos and Molletos. All will miss her house at Christmas with the smell of posole cooking all Christmas Eve and Christmas. Irene loved her sons, her grandchildren, and all of her family, and all will miss her. She spoke for years of joining her husband in Santa Fe, and they will now be together for all time. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at French - Westside Chapel. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. ROMERO -- MARY C. Age 66, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 25, 2012. She was born on October 18, 1945 in Albuquerque, NM to Florenio and Beatrice Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Roger Romero and her grandson Issac. Mary is survived by her daughters, Patricia and husband Joseph Duran and Mary Rose; sons, Joshua and Roger; grandchildren, Manndy, Jacob, Monica and Dora; great-grandchildren, Johnny, Exavior, Melody, Mikey and Onnica. Mary also leaves behind one brother and four sisters along with many nieces and nephews.
