DOMINGUEZ -- Jessie Dominguez passed away Friday, November 5, 2004. He was loved and survived by his wife, Geraldine Dominguez; sons, Charles and Benjamin Dominguez; mother and father, Augustine and Linda Dominguez; brother, Abel Dominguez; sisters, Anna Chavez, Maryann Griego and Linda Munoz. A viewing will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 2:30pm. AVILA -- Charles R. Avila went home to be with the Lord at the age of 66. He was born on April 5, 1938 in Veguita, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Martina Avila; sisters, Edna Chavez, Brijida Torres, Leiah Sanchez; and brothers, Jose Maria Avila and Alfredo Avila. Mr. Avila is survived by his wife, Dolores Avila; sons, Michael Avila and wife, Lynne and Dale Avila and wife, Evelyn; daughters, Sandra Avila-Toledo and husband, Andrew and Barbara Bell and husband, John; sisters, Estella Garcia, Victoria Cordova and husband, Adolpho and Delia Blackard; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at San Juan Church in Veguita, NM. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Toledo, Jonathon Bell and Felicia Avila. She is survived by her mother, Christine Urioste of Albuquerque; siblings, Alex Urioste, Joseph Barela, Jake Apodaca and wife, Emily and their son, Haracio; grandmother, Helen Gonzales; aunts, Mary Calmelat, Nolla Esquibel and husband, Ray, Kortney Gonzales; uncles, Jake Calmelat and wife, April, Anthony Gonzales and wife, Sharon and John Gonzales; 12 cousins, Mele Andrews and husband, Rick, Dominic Calmelat and wife, Dawn, Jaydean Chavez and husband, Chris, Amanda Chavez and son, Elijah, Jasmin and Raymond Esquibel, Miranda, Steven and Angelica Gonzales, Nathan and Jack Andrews; and loving friends. BURR -- Dorothy Ann Burr July 29, 1915 - October 31, 2004 Dorothy Ann Burr, age 89, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home. She was born July 29, 1915, on a homestead in Chavez County, New Mexico near Yeso, the seventh child of Robert Lee Harrington and Sarah M. Coates, a pioneer family in the area. After graduating from Eastern New Mexico University, she embarked upon a teaching career that was to extend over a 30-year-plus period, with most of that time spent in Vaughn Public Schools in Vaughn. While teaching in Vaughn, she met and married Joel B. Burr in 1944. The marriage was to endure for a period of 54 years until her husband's death in 1998, at the age of 97. During her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed her crossword puzzles, her church work, and the many friends she had in South Central and Eastern New Mexico. She is survived by two stepsons, William O. Burr of Columbia, MO, and Joel B. Burr, Jr. of Farmington, NM; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings and her husband, Joel B. Burr. GATES -- Hope L. (Esperanza) Gates, age 83, a resident of Magdalena, NM, peacefully joined Our Lord and Savior on Monday, November 1, 2004. Hope was the loving daughter of the late Antonio and Juanita Baca Castillo; sister of the late Vivian Hail; and loving grandmother to the late Camille Hackney. She is survived by her family, Carol Lee Smith of Magdalena, NM; Jeanette Hackney and David Valentich of Ridgway, CO; two grandsons, Seth and Jared Abeita and their families; one dear sister, Laca Chavez. Hope is also survived by her loving niece, Ida and her husband, John Gardner; one nephew, Edward Chavez and Rachel Jaramillo. Hope was a member of the Catholic Church. She was born and raised in the Belen area, then moved to Socorro, NM, where she owned and operated Navajo Butane Co. for 20 years. Hope was a feisty individual who not only loved riding horses and motorcycles, but could even drive a semi. A public viewing will be on Thursday, November 4 from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Friday, November 5 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. ROMERO -- Robert R. (Bobby) Romero, age 63, son of Mary S. Romero, passed away on October 18, 2004, in an auto accident in Ventura, CA, where he lived. He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Robert; daughter, Monica Castenada and her husband, Eric of Ventura, CA; also surviving are his brothers, Paul Romero, Jr. and John E. Chavez of Oxnard, CA; sisters, Jeannette Thomson and husband, Alexander of Florida, and Christine Suazo and husband, Joe of Colorado; he had many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncles; and many friends who will all miss him greatly.

TOLEDO -- Gladys Chavez Toledo, 59, of Ojo Encino, NM passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM. Mrs. Toledo was born Jan. 6, 1945 in Torreon, NM. She is survived by a son, Arnold R. Toledo of Ojo Encino. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 3, 2004, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Torreon Jesus Mission in Torreon, New Mexico. Burial will follow at Torreon Navajo Mission Cemetery.
