Gutierrez -- Sara O. Gutierrez, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully while her family was at her side. Mrs. Gutierrez was born in Bronte, TX to the late Juan and Canuta Olivas; a resident of Albuquerque; and a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of The Annunciation Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David C. Gutierrez of the family home; her children, Christine Cox and husband, Robert (Wayne), Margaret Levine and Patricia Gutierrez; her grandchildren, David and Lisa Cox and Sam and Rebecca Levine. Also surviving are a aunt, Santos Tavares of Arizona; three sisters, Noberta Reyes of Texas, Frances Gutierrez and Julia Stiefel and husband, Sam of Albuquerque; four brothers, Simon Olivas, Henry Olivas and wife, Marcella of Texas, Robert Olivas and wife, Tillie, James Olivas and wife, Viola of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Arlene DeFoor, Betty Howard, Hilda, Julia, Lynda, Jeri, James and Viola Olivas; Hospice attendants, Barbara, Rebecca, Jeanne, and Dr. Lorraine Sanchez for the wonderful way they cared for Mrs. Gutierrez. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of The Annunciation Catholic Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Cox, David Cox, Robert Lopez, James Olivas, David Olivas, Richard Olivas and Sam Levine. Funeral services were in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.

Luna -- Emilio Luna, age 86, died Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at his home in Puerto De Luna. He was born June 7, 1913 in Puerto De Luna to the home of Pedro and Paulita Padilla Luna. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Apprentice Seaman. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1944. Emilio married Irene Fajardo in Puerto De Luna in 1934. Emilio worked for the Arch Hurly Conservative District in Tucumcari until his retirement in 1975. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Refuge Parish in Puerto De Luna, where he and Irene had served as mayordomos. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene F. Luna on May 22, 1998; a brother, Frank Luna; and two sisters, Mela Paiz and Epimenia Campos. Survivors include two sons, David Luna and wife, Linda of Santa Rosa, NM, Paul Luna and wife, Grace of El Cajon, CA; a daughter, Oma Gutierrez and husband, Florencio of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maggie L. Martinez of Puerto De Luna and Louisa Chavez of Albuquerque; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999, from Our Lady of Refuge Parish in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, with Father Sotero A. Sena, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Pallbearers will include Donald Gutierrez, Simon Gutierrez, Charlie Mike IV, Leroy Gallegos, Arsenio Gallegos, and Mariano Paiz. Nieto -- Donald E. Nieto, age 64, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999. He was preceded in death last November by this father, Rev. Simon A. Nieto. Surviving are his daughters, Sylvia Dawn Vanlandingham and husband, Michael, Natalie Ann Nieto Mills and husband, Alvin, Rebecca Jo James and husband, Jay, and Marina Adele Nieto; son, Donald David Nieto and wife, Britt; brothers, Leo Nieto, John Wesley Nieto, Daniel S. Nieto, Arthur Nieto, Gilbert Nieto, and James Nieto; sisters, Elizabeth Poutney, Shirley Espinoza, Pauline Gonzalez, Charlotte Maldonado, Jeanne Alice Sundermann, Margaret Shogry, and Sylvia Salazar; grandchildren, Jaime, Michael, Jodi, Jackson, Jessica, Jenna, and Diego; ex wives, Ann Verkler Nieto and Adelita Pena Nieto; numerous nephews; nieces; and a host of friends. Leyba -- Simon Leyba, age 70, passed away August 23, 1999. He is survived by his two brothers, Edward Leyba and wife, Lucille, Orlando Leyba and wife, Carmen; eight sisters, Sister Orlanda Leyba, Cordy Quinones and husband, Jack, Pauline Quintana and husband, Paul, Carmen Montano and husband, Tommy, Henrietta Leyba, Cathie Lopez and husband, Chris, Helen Herrera and husband, Gilbert, and Theresa Leyba; many nieces and nephews. Simon was a lifelong bachelor, traveler, and free spirited. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, 9:00 a.m., at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Penasco, NM, with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Roybal -- Michael"Jackson" Roybal, 45, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Espanola, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 1999, from a massive heart attack while building his home in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Veronica Roybal; one son, Simon; three step-children, Patrick, Danielle and Paul, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his parents, Theodore and Sally Roybal of San Pedro; three brothers, Carlos Roybal and wife, Judy, Myron Roybal, all of San Pedro and Dominic Roybal and wife, Christen of Albuquerque; three sisters, Louella and husband, Michael Hennelly of Phoenix, AZ, Denise and husband, Steve Montoya of San Pedro and Carmella and husband, Fred Romero of Sombrillo; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jose Andres and Genevieve Sandoval of Las Trampas; several nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles; many cousins; and other relatives and friends. On Friday, August 6, 1999, visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Block-Salazar Mortuary in Espanola. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 7, 1999, 1:30 p.m., at la Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Tafoya -- Tony S. Tafoya, 70, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, June 26, 1999, surrounded by his loving family. Tony is survived by his wife, Celsa Tafoya. Tony's family included Simon and wife, Connie, Edwina Chavez and husband, Stan, Ken and wife, Martie, Anthony and wife, Barbara, David and Mary Louise; step-children, Lando, Cynthia, Fabian and wife, Pam; and brothers, Ross and wife, Rose, Pat and wife, Annie. Tony had 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was a general contractor who because of his reputation as a perfectionist, was well-respected in the industry. He was an avid sportsman. All his family will remember the good time they had fishing, hunting and camping. Memorial rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Rosalie Ramirez, 66, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, walked into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, June 23, 1999. She was born on May 26, 1933 in Gibson, NM to Jesus and Adela Quintana who preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Anselmo Ramirez of the family home; three sons, Ray Ramirez and wife, Ida, Paul Ramirez, Dave Ramirez and wife, Sherry, all of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Anthony, Antanette, Yvonne and Gabriel Ramirez; one great-grandson, Steven Ramirez. Also surviving are six brothers, Ray Quintana and wife, Lorraine, Rudy Quintana and wife, June, David Quintana and wife, Barbara, Johnny Quintana and wife, Teresa, all of Albuquerque, Simon Quintana and wife, Alice of Dallas, TX, and Marcelino Yepes of Ruidoso, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. Ruelas -- Filipe A. Ruelas, age 87, born on May 15, 1912, passed away to be with the Lord on June 16, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Augustina Ruelas; one son, Phillip Ruelas; and one daughter, Tina Cisnero. Filipe is survived by two sons, Leo Ruelas and Simon Ruelas; two daughters, Emily Segura and husband, Horacio, and Rita Montoya and husband, Luis; one sister, Cecilia Mojarro and husband, Daniel; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
