JOHNSTAD -- William "Bill" Allan Johnstad, 54, passed away early Thursday morning, October 6, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnstad of Cedar Crest; son, C.J. Johnstad of Cedar Crest; son, Philip Johnstad and his wife, Dori and grandson, Logan Johnstad of Phoenix, AZ. Bill has resided in the Cedar Crest area since 1984. His death has left a void in our hearts and in our lives. He was a very gentle, mild mannered man, a good father to his children. He was a beautiful person on the inside and was loved by those who took the time to know him. Our consolation is that he will no longer have to suffer here on this earth.

PIERSON -- Linda L. of Albuquerque, NM, age 52. Our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, best friend, and teacher commenced her new life with God on Sunday October 2, 2005. Linda resided in her home town of Albuquerque, NM since 1962. Linda attended St. Theresa and St. Mary's Catholic Schools in her youth, graduated from Valley High School, and obtained her teaching degree from UNM. Linda's love and 28 years of dedication was in teaching the young children at Laguna/Acoma Highschool and Los Lunas Middle School before retiring last year in June 2004. Linda will forever be remembered for her servitude and loyalty to the many customers she graciously served at Helen's and Sunny's Hallmark Stores. Linda is held in loving memory by her mother, Gladys Pierson; her father, Bill Pierson; her seven younger siblings; several nieces and nephews; best friends; and her rabbit, Benjamin. A beautiful woman with a heart of gold, Linda is home now and reunited with her companions Morris the Cat, Buffy, and Jake her dogs. Please join us in remembering Linda and her many accomplishments throughout her life. Services will be held at the First Church of Religious Science located in Albuquerque at 3320 San Pedro NE on Wednesday October 12, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers . . . please send flowers! SWISS -- Dan Swiss of Santa Fe died September 29, 2005. He was 53. Dan built the life that fit him best, surrounding himself with the things that he loved. He took a scholar's approach to the topics that interested him, and often became expert in the areas he was passionate about. He applied the same discipline to his work as a research attorney . Dan loved classical and jazz music, and had an intuitive talent for Italian cooking and landscape design. He appreciated not only the aesthetics but the genetics of thoroughbred race horses and champion show dogs. He was select in the people he loved, but those he loved, he loved well. He is survived by his wife, Kay Bird of Santa Fe; his mother, Mildred Swiss, sister, Cindy Swiss and Cindy's daughter, Shay Argyres of Albuquerque; and brother, Dave Swiss, his wife, Evelyn and their daughter, Hillary of Fort Collins, CO. He is preceded in death by his father, Bill. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Dan and Kay's home. For directions, call 988-1183. GOMEZ -- MARIA U. Mrs. Maria U. Gomez, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 2, 2005. Mrs. Gomez is survived by her children, Lorraine Collins and husband, Thomas, Mary Crespin and husband, Jessie, Silverio Gomez and wife, Emily, Dolores Gomez, Annette Garcia and husband, Andre, Pete Gomez and wife, Paula and Socorro Armstead and husband, Otis; three sisters, Toni Vigil, Emma Romero, and Lupe Uncangco and husband, Jose; 23 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Mrs. Gomez was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro R. Gomez and three grandchildren, Robert Sosa, Daniel J. Gomez and Desiree M. Garcia. Mrs. Gomez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Nestor Garcia, with a Prayer Service to follow by Pastor Charles Mitchell. Final visitation will be Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at the Gabaldon Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:00 a.m. at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona S.W. by Father Bill Sanchez. Interment will follow Mass at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Armstead, Isaiah Williams, Richard Castillo, Jeremiah Gomez, Silverio Gomez III and Manuel Rodriguez. DAVIS -- Alice Ruth Fitzpatrick Davis November 8, 1917 - September 30, 2005 Alice "Ruth" Fitzpatrick Davis, age 87, formally of Clovis, NM, died Friday, September 30, 2005 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque. She was born November 8, 1917 to John and Grace Quigley Fitzpatrick in Saint Marys, KS. She was later adopted by William and Mary O'Neal Fitzpatrick. She married Cecil Davis Sept. 2, 1939 in Amarillo, TX. She was a homemaker, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was currently living in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Davis of the home; four sons, Bill and wife, Debbie Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Cecil Jr. "Bud" and wife, Michelle Davis of Los Angeles, CA, Joe and wife, Carylon Davis of Clovis, NM, and John and wife, Maureen Davis of Bull Head City, AZ; daughter, Mary Nation of Albuquerque, NM; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Anna Marie Curry. Rosary will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2005 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Wilfred Savard officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. HANSON -- Robert John Hanson. Last Remaining Member of "Memphis Belle" Robert J. Hanson passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Arbor Brook Nursing Home in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 85. Bob was the last surviving member of the famous "Memphis Belle" B-17 airplane, which was the first bomber in World War II to complete 25 missions over Germany and to return safely. Because of the heroic efforts of the members of the Memphis Belle, Bob was awarded numerous medals, including medals presented by the Queen of England for his military efforts. In 1977 Bob and Irene Hanson returned to England as consultants to the 2nd making of the movie, "The Memphis Belle." Bob was born in Helena MT on Tuesday, May 25, 1920. He grew up in Garfield, WA and was one of four children born to Art and Blanche Hanson. His uncle, Ford McDaniel, his mother's brother, raised him. He was an outstanding athlete and received a baseball scholarship to Washington State University, but was unable to play baseball because he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. He served four years in the service and left with the rank of First Lieutenant. Upon returning from World War II, Bob joined Nalley's Fine Foods where he progressed from a salesman to a regional sales manager, responsible for several states in the Northwest. Two of Bob's greatest areas of enjoyment in his later years were golfing with Irene and their friends and square dancing. Bob is survived by his wife, Irene Hanson of Albuquerque; brother, Harold Hanson and wife, Ruby of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Ann Blatt and husband, Bill, of Arlington WA; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Dee Dee Hanson and their son, Bo, of Spokane WA; their daughter and son-in-law, Sunny and Jason Shirley of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Mary Black and her husband, James of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Michelle Black; grandson, Jason Black and wife, Liza, of Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Tina and Terry Walker from Pasco, WA and many nieces and nephews. ANDERSEN -- William (Bill) Eugene Andersen passed away Friday, September 16, 2005, in Albuquerque, NM, with his family at his side. He was born in Edmore, MI, on October 31, 1923, and was raised in Michigan where he attended the University of Michigan until he was drafted into the army during World War II. After serving in the war, Bill finished college at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He worked as a manufacturer's representative in New Mexico and California before retiring. In 2000, Bill moved to Ramah, NM, to be near his family. Survivors include his son, Kurt Andersen, of Ramah; sister, Doris Moore, of Stanton, MI; and grandson, Ian Andersen, of Las Cruces, NM. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Andersen and Astrid Jensen Andersen; sons, Mark Andersen, Ted Andersen, and Dane Andersen. A memorial to celebrate Bill's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to a personal charity of choice are requested in lieu of flowers by family. Bill was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

HASSE -- Thelma Louise Hasse, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away September, 24, 2005 after an 18-month fight. She was born in Lincoln, NE on January 12, 1934 to Richard L. and Valrea M. King. She spent her childhood years in the Palisade and Fruitvale areas of Colorado graduating from Central High School in 1952. Thelma and her husband, William S. Hasse, were married on March 15, 1952 in Boulder, CO. She loved being a homemaker and raising her two children, William Jr. and Linda. In 1976, Thelma and Bill established Hasse Contracting Company working together side by side as they built the business. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and entertaining at the family cabin near Dolores, CO. Thelma will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is treasured for her enthusiasm, optimism, patience, and thoughtfulness. She especially enjoyed nurturing her family and expressed gratitude each day for those she loved. Her valiant spirit and selfless courage in the face of adversity were examples for us all. Her open and accepting heart will be greatly missed. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth King; and a grandson, Benjamin Gallea. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William; children, William Hasse Jr. and wife, Deborah and Linda Gallea and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Roy and Elizabeth Gallea, Travis Hasse and wife, Rebecca, Sara Sparman and husband, James, Christian Hasse and wife, Brittany; great-grandchild, Rachel; brothers, Robert L. King of Grand Junction, CO and Donald E. King of Stockton, CA; sister-in-law, Margery King of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. OLDEMEYER -- Richard Leroy Oldemeyer, 53, of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 26, 2005 at his home. He was born July 1, 1952 in Denver, CO, the son of Richard and Martha Oldemeyer. He married Sandy Navarro in Albuquerque. He was a member of the Silver Eagles Riding Club. He worked for KR Swerdfeger Construction Company. Survivors include his wife of Albuquerque; one son and one daughter; Mark (Jamie) Oldemeyer, Parker, CO; Amanda Oldemeyer, Pueblo; grandchildren; Carson, Connor, and Cailey; sisters; Vickie (Bob) Kjera; Connie (Tim) Mikita; Cheri (Mark) Gully; Carrie (Bill) Oaks; all of Colorado; step-father Bob Mattson, Broomfield, CO. FRANKLIN -- Lawrence "Larry" Franklin, age 92, of Albuquerque for over 20 years, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2005. He was born in Beverly, MA on September 26, 1913 to Llewelyn and Eleanor (Wood) Franklin. He is survived by his son, George and wife, Sally, of Albuquerque; son Rev. David Franklin of Ridgefield, CT; daughter Gail Hanagan and her husband, Bill of Singapore; grandchildren Jeffrey Franklin and wife, Charity, Rebecca Wiseman and husband, Master Sergeant Sonny, Bridget Hanagan and Nora Hanagan; great-grandchildren Troy and Savanna Wiseman, Lauren, Alicia and Colin Franklin. He was preceded in death by his former wife; Josephine Cataldo Franklin and step-son Vincent James Cataldo. Jimmy's wife Anna and their children and grandchildren also survive. Larry worked for many years as an advertising manager at the Salem Evening News in Salem, MA. He embarked on a new career with the Fred Harvey Company at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Larry worked at the Grand Canyon for over 10 years at Moqui Lodge and formed lasting friendships with fellow employees from across the United States as well as many guests from all over the world. During WWII and after, Larry served as a volunteer fireman with the Beverly Fire Department and began a lifelong interest in firefighting and fire trucks. Visitors to his residence at Westwind House were frequently invited to view his extensive collection of model fire trucks. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel.
