Gathings -- Dr. Robert O. Gathings, 75, beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away quietly Friday morning, November 29, 2002. Dr. Gathings was born in Cedartown, Georgia. He came from a family of five medical doctors. Dr. and Mrs. Gathings moved to Albuquerque in 1956 where he began his medical practice. He truly loved his work to which he dedicated himself for forty years. Dr. Gathings is survived by his wife, Nedra F. Gathings; son, D. Rusch Gathings and wife, Yolanda Zamora-Gathings; daughter, Desiree Rachel Gathings and husband, Fredvic L. Zabala; grandson, Robert Brandon Zabala. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver SE, with Pastor Tom Beach officiating. As a testament to his life's work parents are encouraged to bring to the memorial service photographs of their children that Dr. Gathings delivered. There will be a display in the narthex of the church for the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donation be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver NE, 87108. Salazar -- Lorella M. Salazar, age 77, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, November 30, 2002. Lorella was born February 7, 1925 to Tomas O. Montoya and Frances DeLao Montoya. Lorella is the last of the Montoya political dynasty -- Her brothers, Tom Montoya, State Representative Teddy Montoya, State Representative Alfonso Montoya, United States Senator Joseph M. Montoya; her sisters, Agneda Montoya and Virginia Chavez all preceded her in death. Lorella loved life and life loved Lorella. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lorella is survived by her son, Tom J. Salazar and his wife, Gail Salazar; her brother-in-law, Tony Chavez; her nephews, Patrick Montoya, Phil Montoya, Joe M. Montoya and Teo Montoya; her nieces, Alicia Montoya and Lynda Montoya-Haran. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 3, 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4, 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo with Fr. Virgil officiating. Pallbearers will be Patrick Montoya, Phil Montoya, Michael Carroll, Steve Del Valle, Victor Castillo and Phillip Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lou Avolio, Paul Del Valle, Bill Elliott and Tony Gabaldon. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the Theodore R. Sanchez -- Jesus Sanchez, 80, went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2002 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 26, 1922 in Atrisco, NM. Mr. Sanchez enjoyed woodwork, yard work and music. He also enjoyed standing at the pier in Malibu, CA and thinking of his days in the service. He is survived by his wife Rosemary K. Sanchez; children, Lawrence and Deann Sanchez of Westlake, Ca, Elise S. Sanchez of Albuq. and Charles J. Sanchez also of Albuq.; sisters, Luggie Montano and husband, Tom, and Enrica Gonzales and husband, Dan of Albuq.; brother, Tony Sanchez of Albuq.; six grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Sanchez will be deeply missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Peralta, NM. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque. Services are in the care of: Garcia Mortuary 717 Stover Ave. S.W. 243-5222

Boatman -- E. Bobbye Boatman, 91, a long time resident of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, passed away November 21, 2002. She was born March 19, 1911, to Frank and Eszter Mile of Kitchener, Ontario and was married to Dr. L.C. (Larry) Boatman in Santa Fe in 1951. Her last employment during a career as an executive secretary was with the NM Synod of the Presbyterian Church. In Santa Fe, her activities included the Toastmistress Club, choir of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a frequent soloist, Garden Club, creative cooking, and hosting events, such as the Convention of the NM Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, in which Dr. Boatman was active. In Albuquerque, Bobbye was an early and enduring member of the First Church of Religious Science and an avid student of Science of Mind. She is survived by her children, Diane Boatman, of Accord, NY and Dorothy Boatman, of Madison, WI; 6 grandchildren, Donna Gray, Kirsten, Eddie, Mattie, Larry, and Edna Hogan; 7 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Louis, Steve, Charles, Gordon, Margo Scargall, Elaine Lampman, and Eileen Lang; nieces and nephews, Hilda Scott, Edward Mile, Bonnie Lou Novack, Jane Chance, and Donald Chance, Jr.; and many grand nieces and nephews. Special friends included Pat and Bob Gooch, Dot and Tom Tennies, Joyce and George Hudson, Barb and Bob Pixton, Bill and Doris Weaver, Norm and Barb Dawson, John Bundock, Esther Boatman, and Mary Karmody. Her parents, husband, and siblings, Frank, Juliana Chance, Peter, and Alex, preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 11 a.m., at First Church of Religious Science, 3320 San Pedro Blvd. NE, with Rev. Patrick Pollard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bobbye's name to the Building Fund of the First Church of Religious Science, the Animal Humane Association of NM, Inc., 615 Virginia Street SE, 87108, or a charity of your choice. Klein -- Steven Edward Klein, 51, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2002, at his home in Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, at Christ Lutheran Church with The Rev. Raymond Mirley of St. Louis and The Rev. Greg Werdin officiating. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. He was born on June 11, 1951, in St. Louis, MO. He was educated in private schools in St. Louis, MO and was a graduate of the University of Missouri, board certified CPA. Steven was the founder, president and CEO of Delta Group Electronic, Inc., founded in 1987, in Albuquerque. Since then, the company has expanded with plants in San Diego, CA and Rockledge, FL, with the corporate headquarters in Albuquerque. Recognized by INC Magazine (INC500) in 1998, 1999 as being one of the fastest growing companies in the country. Recognized by New Mexico Magazine as one of top 100 privately held companies in the state. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Klein. Steven was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and was instrumental in starting a Lutheran Grade School at the church. He was a patron of the arts and many civic and philanthropic organizations, New Mexico Symphony, Carrie Tingley, Lutheran Family Services, New Mexico Museum of Natural History, Christ Lutheran School, Lobo Club and Missouri Alumni Association. As a pastime he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and playing golf with his brothers. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hagood Klein; son, Gregory Klein; daughter, Allison Klein, both of Albuquerque; his mother, Marjorie Klein of St. Louis, MO; six brothers, their wives and families; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Steven was the son-in-law of Louise and Tom Hagood Of Paris. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran School, 7701 Candelaria Rd. NE, 87110. Morgan -- Harold Morgan, 85, a 43-year resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2002, ten years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Iverna Phelps Morgan of Albuquerque; one sister; one brother; three children; and five grandchildren. Harold had a great zest for life and for his work. He dearly loved his family and friends. He was born in Milburn, Oklahoma, in 1917, and after much moving around as a child, graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, OK, where he was president of the class of 1935. Harold was a member of what has come to be called"the greatest generation," serving the United States in World War II and again during the Korean War. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 1939, and served in the African Middle East Command during World War II. He was recalled to the Air Force in 1950 and served at during the Korean War at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell. He closed his military service as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserve in 1968. He received an L.L.B. degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1947. He earned the law degree without receiving a bachelor's degree, a remarkable accomplishment, and later was awarded a Juris Doctor degree. He was a member of the bar association in Oklahoma and New Mexico. Harold was a member of the Masonic Order, Siloam Lodge 276 Oklahoma City; the Scottish Rite Valley of Guthrie, OK; Ballut Abyad Shrine, Greeter Patrol in Albuquerque. Harold joined Kerr McGee Corporation in 1949. He was a uranium industry pioneer in New Mexico. As an attorney for Kerr McKee, Harold was part of a team seeking and developing uranium and other minerals in New Mexico and across the West. The team helped develop large deposits of uranium in the Ambrosia Lake area near Grants, NM, and in Wyoming, helping set off a mining boom in Grants and playing a key role in supplying the nation's need for uranium for defense purposes during the 1950s and nuclear power plants. Uranium brought Harold, Iverna and their children to Albuquerque in 1960. Harold became the first full time general manager of Ranchers Exploration and Development Corporation, a firm holding mineral rights for properties in Ambrosia Lake. The vision for Ranchers Exploration was to build a series of businesses using the royalties from the mining properties. Ranchers Banks of Belen are a continuing legacy of that vision. Harold and Iverna's children are Connie Matzen of Raleigh, NC (Connie's husband is Vernon Matzen and her children are Sarick Matzen and Kathryn Matzen); Harold Morgan of Albuquerque (His wife is Susan Bennett and his children are Kathy Morgan and Tom Morgan), and Tom Morgan of Denver (His wife is Alison Morgan and his son is Ryan Morgan). Harold's sister is Virginia Carter of Oklahoma City, OK. His brother is Kenneth Morgan of Yukon, OK. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2002, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Internment will be at 3:00 p.m., December 2, 2002, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
