Violet Fern Beavers, age 77, died on April 8, 2002 in Albuquerque. She was born in Plattsburg, MO to Jesse Aaron and Essie R. Foster Henry. She was a member of Central Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Dorcas Society. Mrs. Beavers was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Beavers in March 1991. She is survived by five children, Suzanna Woodard and husband, Walter of White Rock, NM, Bonnie Griffin and David Beavers, both of Moriarty, NM, Ann O'Rourke and husband, Kevin of Albuquerque, and Burly Sheckler and wife, Renee of Edgewood, NM; 16 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday in Chapel of Sandia with Pastor Wayne Gayton of Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty. Pallbearers will be Robert Rice, William Rice, Stephen Ramer, Donald Scott, Justin Sheckler and Mike Gurley. De Jong --
Peter Donald De Jong (Don) was born April 13, 1934 to Louis P. and Gertrude (Breukelman) De Jong in Geddes, SD. On August 16, 1955 Don was united in marriage to Thelma Vander Pol from Sheldon, IA. They lived in the areas of New Holland, Sheldon, IA, Denver, Buffalo Creek, and Bailey, CO and Albuquerque. Don's Heavenly Father mercifully took him out of his misery from fighting his battle with cancer for the last seven months. He passed into Glory on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gertrude De Jong. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Thelma of 46 years; four children and four grandchildren; son, Jeris and wife, Debie with grandsons, Jerod and fiancee, Elizabeth Hamilton and David, daughter, Twyla De Jong, sons, Loren and wife, April with granddaughter, Lauryl, son, Garry and wife, LoriAnn with granddaughter, Rhiannon; his sister, Gladys and husband, Bob Molendyk and their four children and four granddaughters; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho. Private committal and entombment will be in Vista Verde Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque with Pastor John Dykhuis officiating. Paul C."Butch" Perkins, 62, died on April 9, 2002 in Decatur, IL Memorial Hospital. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at New Salem Baptist Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to services and 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Pathways to Independence or New Salem Baptist Missionary Society. Mr. Perkins was born February 17, 1940 in Waterloo, IA the son of Claude and Joe Willie (Childress) Perkins, Sr. He married Patricia Hill June 15, 1968 in Oakland, CA. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Army, graduated from Millikin University, Decatur Leadership Institute and retired from ADM as Director of Labor Relations in July, 2001. He was a mentor with Decatur Public Schools, Junior Achievement Advisor, recently involved in training at ADM, and was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife; three children, Jeffery Perkins, Waterloo, IA, Deron Perkins and wife, Erin, Springfield, Brent Perkins, Decatur; special son, George Calfas, Lillington, NC; three brothers, Claude Perkins, Jr. and wife, Lillie, Waterloo, IA, Donald Perkins and wife, Linda, Albuquerque, Rev. William C. Perkins and wife, Rose, Waterloo, IA; two sisters, Gwendolyn Schauf and husband, Charles, Waterloo, IA, Beverly Cook, Waterloo, IA; mother-in-law, Bennie Hill, Decatur and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy; and one brother, Ronald.

Donald H. "Don" Ryan, 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Duanne Ryan of Albuquerque; children, Michael Ryan and wife, Donna of Durango, CO, Connie Ryan of Albuquerque, Dan Ryan and wife, Peggy of Tucson, AZ, Colleen Domme and husband, Dan, Kelly Ryan and wife, Rita, Marty Ryan, Duffy Ryan, all of Albuquerque, Mindy Hancock and husband, Wes, Lori Salopek and husband, Frank, all of Las Cruces and Kerry Van Amburg and husband, Steve of Albuquerque; 33 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay McClain and husband, Jim of California and Carole Hein and husband, Joe of Iowa; and brothers, Jim Ryan and wife, Lois of Iowa and Tom Ryan of California. Mr. Ryan was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the European Theatre during WWII. He worked for over 20 years at Sears. Mr. Ryan also worked, for over 30 years, with the Archdiocese of Santa Fe as the General Manager of Gate of Heaven Cemetery. He was known for a great sense of humor, his love of life and especially, his love for his family. Don will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 11, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE. Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 12, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., also at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Crensaw --
Mary Carmignani Crenshaw, 82, died Thursday, March 28, 2002. Mrs. Crenshaw was born in Albuquerque, N.M. She graduated from Gallup High School in Gallup, N.M., as a valedictorian and received an academic scholarship to the University of New Mexico. She was a member of the Mortar Board and the Key Club honorary sororities. She graduated in 1941 and joined the Navy immediately after Pearl Harbor. As a Navy WAVE, she received training at Harvard University where she was one of the first female students at the previously all-male school. She became an air traffic controller at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station and worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, TN. After World War II, she received her master's degree from Columbia University, where she met and married Joseph Crenshaw in 1950. They had lived in Tallahassee since 1960. Mary was an accomplished potter and stained glass artist. She was an analyst for the State of Florida Legislative Regulatory and Reform Committee in Tallahassee for 20 years. Most recently, she had attended the Senior Academy at Florida State University. She is survived by a son, William Donald Crenshaw of Tallahassee; a daughter, Helen Camille Crenshaw Holt of New Orleans; two brothers, Lawrence R. Carmignani of Artesia, Calif., and Robert Carmignani, D.D.S., of Albuquerque; and a sister, Josephine Carmignani Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995.

Donald Myers (May 15, 1932 - April 2, 2002) is in the Lord's hands as he said in his own words shortly before he left to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and other loved ones who preceded him in death. He was a strong Christian example with a kind heart. He faithfully attended Eastern Hills Baptist Church and Manzano Baptist Church. He served his country in the Army during the 1950's. He will be greatly missed until the day his family is reunited with him in heaven. He was the devoted husband of Margaret; loving father of Terri (Chuck), Mark (Francine), Sue, Buzzy (Sherri), Matt (Michelle), Donnie (Amy); best and proud grandfather of Chuck II (Chris), Shannon (Dennis), Jeff, Buddy, Elizabeth, Danielle, Dee Dee, Justin, Dylan, Brandyn and Noah; devoted great-grandfather of Andrew, Zach, Abigail and Baby Groves on the way; brother of Bobby (Cathy); brother-in-law and special friend of Ernest Alvrez; caring uncle of several nieces and nephews. Services will be held, Saturday, April 6, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Manzano Baptist Church, 12411 Linn Avenue NE with Pastor Larry Miller and Pastor Bert Singletary officiating. Marvin Corliss Watts, Sr., 61, a native of Mountainair, NM and a longtime resident of Yoder, WY died suddenly in the late evening of April 1, 2002, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the River of Life Church in Torrington, WY, with Pastor Jerry Hackett officiating. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM with Pastors Jerry Hackett and Nathan Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountainair Cemetery. Marvin was born to O.T. (Bud) and Virginia M. Watts on August 17, 1940 in Mountainair, NM. Marvin spent his younger years in Old Mexico and New Mexico. He graduated from Mountainair High School in 1959. On June 26, 1959 he married Peggy Jones of Mountainair, NM. Together with their children they resided in Kansas City, MO, St Francis, KS eventually settling in Yoder, WY. Recently Marvin and wife Peggy had traveled back to Mountainair, NM with plans of wintering in the warmer climate. He retired from Consolidated Freightway after 26 years of service. Marvin was an active Board Member of the River of Life Church in Torrington, WY. He also participated in the Fort Laramie Rifleman's Club. Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing the great outdoors with his family. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Yoder, WY; sons, Marvin Watts Jr. of Denver, CO, James Watts and wife, LaDawn of Harrisburg, NE, James Kanniard of Yoder, WY, Duane Watts and wife, Sandra of Estancia, NM and daughter, Lenna and husband, Donald Booth of Scottsbluff, NE; brothers, and sisters-in-law, Gary and Diane Watts and Orville and Doreen Watts all of Mountainair, NM; one uncle, Jimmy Corliss and his wife, Dorothy of Mountainair, NM; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Virginia Watts and his grandparents, A.O. (Jack) and Lenna Corliss and I.G. and Lillie McKinley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM 847-2331.
