MARQUEZ -- Robert E. Marquez, also known as Railroad Bob, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2008 surrounded by his loved ones. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and went on to work for the Railroad for 25 years. He also served for a time in the US Marine Corps. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 13. Bob was loved by many and will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh and for his sarcastic sense of humor. Bob had a passion for cooking and spoiled his family with his meals. He loved watching sports and being with his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Ernest Marquez. Bob is survived by his wife of 18 years, Teresa (Terri) Marquez; sons, Albert Marquez, Eugene Marquez, Steve Selgado and wife, Margarita, Peter Hinojos, and Kent Powell; daughters, Lorraine Selgado, Sharon Baca and husband, Lawrence, and Ruth Selgado; brothers, Manny Marquez and wife, Virginia, and Harry Marquez and wife, Theresa; sister, Ernestine Marquez; grandchildren, Gabriel, Desiree, Geno, AJ, Monica, Lori, Jessica, Isaiah, Zasha and Nicolas; four great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Lorie Selgado; brother-in-law, Rick Pacheco and wife, Joann; sisters-in-law, Mary Baumberger and husband, Paul, and Liz Mora; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous dear friends. A Wake Service for Bob will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Legacy Church where the Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Frank Marquez, David Marquez, Rick Marquez, Peter Hinojos, Kent Powell, and Steve Selgado. MARTINEZ -- Ricky J. Martinez, 46, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2008 following a long illness. He is preceded in death by his mother, Flora Martinez; brother, Cecil Martinez; and sister-in-law, Shari Roestenberg, all of Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Claudia Gallegos Martinez; father, Cecilio Martinez; brothers, Joseph Martinez and Anthony Martinez and wife, Michelle, all of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Anthony, Ashley, Andrea, Matthew, Roberta, and Emiliano; a godson that he raised as a son, Joshua Kaufman; a special grand-nephew that brought joy to his life, Dominic; many aunts and uncles that loved him so; Sister Connie Martinez, FdCC, Carmel Martinez and wife, Gloria, Lorenzo Martinez and wife, Dorothy, Filomeno Martinez, Daniel Martinez, and wife, Yolanda, Lourdes Martinez, Rosalie Garcia, Leila Garcia, Sophia Baca, Eddy Baca and wife, Ramona, and Pete (Cuco) Baca; and other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. A very special thank you to Ismael (Petro) Baca, Steve Baca, Frank (Speedy) Candelaria, Daniel Martinez, and Paul Romero for all of your help and love. MEDINA -- Eloy Orlando Medina, born December 4, 1979 in Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at the age of 29. He is preceded in death by his brother, Domanic Medina. He is survived by his father, Kelvin Medina; mother, Loretta Medina; daughters, Reannen Medina and Aryanna Medina; brother, Gabriel Jaramillo; sisters, Kristian Medina and Elizabeth Medina; grandmother, Felicia Torres; and grandmother, Tina Gurule; aunts, Sandy Martinez, Diane Griego, Yvonne Gurule, and Sarah Gonzales; uncles, Allen Medina and Robert Gurule; as well as numerous cousins and other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred, NW. A Rosary will be recited Friday, January 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Burial to follow at San Carlos Cemetery on Alameda. MYERS -- Elizabeth Josephine (Betty Jo), 87, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Albuquerque, NM passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 28, 2008. Betty Jo was born October 30, 1921 in America, IL. She will be remembered as a loving sister, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty Jo is survived by her son Don Myers of Scottsdale, AZ; and four daughters, Pam and Clark Hall of Tucson, AZ; Sandy and George Ruth of Las Cruces, NM, Jan and Larry D'Anza and Geri and Patrick Beel of Albuquerque, NM; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, Barbara Hage, Charlotte Rigg and Harriett Treadwell; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Betty Jo's life will be held at Los Altos Christian Church, 11900 Haines NE, Albuquerque, NM at 3:00 p.m., on January 3, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Society, Los Altos Christian Church, Hospice or a charity of your choice.

ORTEGA -- Mary Ortega, 74, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 29, 2008. Mrs. Ortega is survived by her children, Tim Brooks and wife, Carla, Tina Olson and husband, James, Terry Torres, Thomas Brooks and wife, Lisa; her brothers, Rudy Ortega and wife, Kathy, and David Ortega and Carmen; ten grandchildren, Kaylie, Jenna, Paul, Heather, Meagan, Letisha, Joshua, Thomas II, Alicia, and Cierra; one great-granddaughter, Madeline; a special nephew, John De Flice and wife, Charisse; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Monday, January 5, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father George Pavamkott, presider. PADILLA -- Roland (Mando) Padilla, 56, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emma Padilla and sister, Baby Theresa. He is survived by his sisters Theresa Medoro of Winchester, VA, Helen Padilla and partner Gary Hickman of Arlington, TX, Conchie Halas and husband Geno, Maxine Di Bernardo and husband Joe; brother Richard Padilla all of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosary will be recited Friday, January 2, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5301 Claremont N.E. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. PIERCE -- Mattie Kate Pierce, age 95, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008. She was born in Mertens, TX and as a child, moved to Milan and Lavina, TN. She came to Albuquerque in 1957 and was employed at Sandia Base. She retired with her husband, Alfred C. Pierce to Hot Springs Landing at Elephant Butte Lake in the late 60's, where they enjoyed fishing, hunting and entertaining. Kate belonged to many organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star Boat Club, Booster Club of Elephant Butte, American Legion and the VFW. Mama Kate leaves a daughter, Rebecca J. Chamblee of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Frank Butler and wife, Bekki and their daughter, Sierra of Sparks, NV; Sherrye Butler and Rob Boyles and daughter, Shauna and son, Nathan, all of Albuquerque. Her Papa used to tell Kate she was worth a "million" and she certainly was. Cremation has taken place and no services have been scheduled at this time. SAIZ -- Aurelio A. The chime of the bells have called him home, to walk freely, in a place he shall roam. No pain, no fear, no sorrow, no strain. Just a new journey, a new path to a place he will forever call home. Aurelio, 73, born in Mangas, NM on February 14, 1935, moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1941 went home with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008. Aurelio was a cement mason for over 45 years. He is survived by his soul mate of 40 years, Grace Hernandez; five daughters; three sons; one godchild; one brother; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Aurelio loved his family, his children, his grandchildren, and life. Cremation has taken place. Services for Aurelio will be Friday, January 2, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM. Viewing at 8:00 a.m, Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m., Funeral Mass 9:00 a.m.

SCHAUB -- Andrew Schaub, 31, died suddenly December 27, 2008. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was our son, brother, nephew, and a wonderful friend. He graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1996. Andrew had multiple associate degrees in writing, from Scottsdale Community College. He was employed by Southern Wine & Spirits of Phoenix, AZ. He was a gifted writer and former Marine who served with honor. Andrew was proud to be a Marine; he loved his country and the "brothers" he served with in the Corps. He is survived by his mother and father, Kathleen and Michael Schaub from Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Adam Schaub, from Scottsdale, Arizona; numerous uncles and aunts; extended family and Logan, his faithful chocolate lab. The family asks that everyone keep Andrew alive in their hearts and minds. Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2009, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel. Saturday, January 3, 2009 a Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior. SCHROEDER -- Christian F. Schroeder, Jr., a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully on December 24, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Jeannette.
