PALACIOS -- Maria Palacios, 49, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. She was the daughter of Luis F. and Refugio Hernandez Palacios. Maria's siblings were Manuel Palacios of Albuquerque, Lucia Palacios of Las Cruces, Pedro Palacios of Las Cruces, Reyna Palacios of Phoenix, and Daniel Palacios of Las Cruces. She is survived by her husband, Garry Hallford; and her three golden retrievers, Chewy, Allie, and Puter. Maria obtained degrees in Sociology, Spanish, and Counseling, as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She worked in a wide variety of fields, all of which involved serving and helping other people. Maria loved good movies, good books, and spending time with her husband and their dogs. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, 9:00 a.m., at Mesilla Catholic Church in Mesilla, New Mexico. Memorial Services in Albuquerque will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006, 6:00 p.m., at the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel on the University of New Mexico Campus. When once asked how she would most like to be remembered, Maria said, "as a person who left situations, places, people, things, better than she found them. ABLES -- Phyllis Neri Ables, 72, died peacefully at her home on August 16, 2006 after a lengthy and courageous battle with multiple diseases. Born on February 24, 1934, in Albuquerque, NM, she was the beloved youngest child of William and Anna (Schifani) Eggert. Her parents preceded her in death. Phyllis is survived by the four loves of her life, her children: Melodee Witt and husband, Phil, Carole Sullivan and husband, Danny, Daniel Sandlin and wife, Julie, and Shirley Sandlin; grandchildren, Kristopher Bero, Phillip Bero and wife, Maria, Kenny Bero, Sara Sullivan, and Ian and Eric Sandlin; great-granddaughter, ShayLynn Bero. She is also survived by her brothers, Father Francis X. Eggert and Pete Spehar; her sister, Shirley Villa and husband, Charles; niece, Carla Villa and husband, Mike Bickel; great-nephew and niece, Charley and Edie Bickel; uncle, Daniel Schifani of Santa Fe; numerous cousins and countless friends. Her engaging, charismatic personality and glamorous looks helped to create a resume, which included fashion, hospitality, food and beverage, and sales. During the 1960s in Las Vegas, NV, Phyllis modeled for designer boutiques and worked in exclusive hotels and casinos, including Caesar's Palace and the Sands. Here in Albuquerque, she was the office manager at the Albuquerque Business College, managed cash accounting for Cee Vee Concessions at the New Mexico State Fair and was the general manager of the High Noon Restaurant in Old Town. In 1988, Phyllis launched her very successful Mary Kay business, which she continued to work in until the very end of her life. The family would like to extend very special thanks to the doctors whose care and expertise made the last 12 years possible: Dr. Barbara McAneny and her entire staff at NMCC, Dr. Eric Carlson, Dr. Ronnie Garner, Dr. Donald Porter, Dr. T. Philip Jacob, Dr. Jane Schauer, and Dr. Damara Kaplan. She was a force of nature who changed the energy of every room she entered and our lives are forever changed by her leaving. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rosary will be recited Friday, August 18, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. MCDANIEL -- Molly Anne Finch McDaniel, 51, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, August 12, 2006. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Heather Christine Finch; ex-husband, N. Robert Finch and wife, Bonnie; father, Cecil Shelly, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Dan McDaniel and wife, Saundra of Overland KS, Mark Shelly and wife, Patti of Jackson, NJ, and Frank Shelly and wife, Maria of Albuquerque; sisters, Melissa Sanchez and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, Nina Brisnehan and husband, Ken of West Minister, CO, and Sara Shelly and husband, Sam of Las Cruces; great-aunt, Verolyn Howard of New Market, TN; aunt, Hazel Lawson and husband, T. Carl of Morristown, TN; uncle, John Williams and wife, Evelyn of Morristown, TN; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and blood brother, Zsolt Makai. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her mother, Nelle Shelly and biological father, William Lawrence McDaniel. Molly was a 1972 graduate of Highland High School and has been a member of Monte Vista Christian Church for more than forty years. RAMIREZ -- ROSE A. Mrs. Rose A. Ramirez, 81, born in Las Vegas, NM on April 8, 1925, and a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 14, 2006 peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family and is now in heaven with our Lord. Mrs. Ramirez is the beloved mother to Archie Ramirez and wife, Carol, Tony Ramirez Jr. and wife, Mary, Mary Ann Barrera and husband, Juan, Maria Gallegos and husband Joe, Edwina Torrez and husband, Edwin, Louisa Silk and husband, Kenneth, Leroy Ramirez and wife, Elizabeth, Tommy Ramirez, Richard Ramirez, and Minerva Rojas. Mrs. Ramirez is also survived by two sisters, Rose Madrid and husband, Amadeo and Dolores Phillips; one brother, Joe Dimas Aragon and wife, Consuelo; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Ramirez Sr.; her parents, Amadeo and Nabora Aragon; a son, Frank C. Ramirez; a daughter, Theresa Ramirez; three brothers, Arcenio Aragon, Felipe Aragon, and Tony Apodaca. Mrs. Ramirez was a member of the Catholic Church. SAIZ -- Maria Concepcion Saiz, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in Socorro, NM. She was born March 26, 1923 to Juan and Maria (Aragon) Peralta in Kelly, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio Saiz; son, Nicholas Eusebio Saiz; son-in-law, Mario Perez; daughter-in-law, Irene Saiz; and brother, Florentino Peralta. She is survived by her son, Phillip Richard Saiz of Albuquerque, NM; daughters: Frances Gonzales and husband, Tommy of San Antonio, NM; Berlinda Perez of Socorro; Rosemary Rosas and husband, Reyes of Alamillo, NM; Mable Gonzales and husband, Marcos Jr. of Socorro; and Cindy Saiz and companion, Denise McEntire of Socorro; brother, Max Peralta of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Stephanita Peralta of Albuquerque; sister, Magdalena Chavez and husband, Simon of Albuquerque; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. LUCERO -- Michael P. "Mikie" Lucero, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 19, on Saturday, August 12, 2006. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He came from a small but very close and loving family. Michael was loved by many who came into his life, including lots of very close friends. Michael enjoyed fishing, music, his car, and all his fun times with his friends. He loved to cook for any and all who came by his home and always had an open door for anyone needing a place to stay. He was giving to all and had so much love for everyone that he would always smile when he gave. Michael loved and enjoyed his life with his mother. He is now resting in peace with his dad in heaven, for he was a true believer in God. You will forever live in our hearts, our minds, and the memories will keep you with us forever. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael S. Lucero; uncles, Marty L. Chavez and Tano Gonzales; and Tata and Nana, Paul and Ursula Aragon. HATFIELD -- Helen Amanda Stoner Hatfield, 91, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM with her four children and loving caregiver by her side. Mrs. Hatfield was born on November 27, 1914 in Wichita, KS. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, A. Max Hatfield. She is survived by her children, Judith and husband, Don Lambert of McKinney, TX, Nancy Hatfield of Albuquerque, NM, Stephen and wife, Linda Hatfield of Roswell, NM, James and wife, Susan Hatfield of Bosque Farms, NM; her beloved caregiver, Maria Benavidez; nine grandchildren, Erin Clark of McKinney, TX, Christopher Buck of Stamford, CT, Audrie Malin, of North Andover, MA, Raymond White III of Bristol, TN, Bret White of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Corrie Auterson of Smyrna, GA, Elizabeth Birchfield of Jacksonville, NC, Wynn Sandoval of Bosque Farms, NM and Jason Hatfield of Albuquerque, NM; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. As Helen was growing up, she was an avid horseperson, swimmer, and music lover. She was a caregiver for her parents who lived with them while she raised her four children. She spent most of her adult life in Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico. Her children remember how she enjoyed making cinnamon rolls, crescent rolls, and apple dumplings for her family and friends. After raising her children, Helen worked in banking for many years before retiring to be the first mate to her captain Max on their sailboats. She played the piano and organ at church, Sunday school, and Bible studies well into her eighties. A private family Service has been planned.
