BURCH -- Flora M. Burch, loving sister and aunt passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 after a short illness. She is survived by her sisters, Mary and Arline Burch of the family home; her dearest niece, Kathy and husband Tony Medle; great-nephew Michael and wife Jolyn Medley all of Albuquerque; and great-niece Jennifer Medley of Phoenix. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews including Jess Burch Jr., Lucille Morris, Lorraine Stebleton, Richard Burch, Charles Burch Jr., Ed Burch, Joann Mares and their spouses. Flora had many close friends and co-workers whom she cherished and held dear. Flora was born and resided in Santa Rosa, NM where she worked as the Guadalupe County Clerk and then County Treasurer. She relocated to Albuquerque in the mid 1950's where she began a career at Sandia Labs, retiring after 29 years in 1984. Pallbearers will be David Palmer, Tony Medley, Michael Medley, Paul Morris, Kevin Burch and Lorenzo Padilla. Honorary Pallbearers are Albert Nelson, Brian McDonald, and Art Gray. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 23, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. MCCOURT -- Rose McCourt, 88, died suddenly on Monday, July 20, 2009 of myelomonocystic leukemia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McCourt; and 11 of her 13 siblings, including her beloved sister, Guadalupe Fogleman and brother, John Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary McCourt and husband, Richard Todd of Placitas; and her brother, Frank C. Davis of Moriarty. Rose was an active woman who counted swimming and bowling among her activities. She was a member of St. Edwin Catholic Church. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009, 9:00 a.m., at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW. RIVERA -- Antonio "Tony" Rivera, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Antonia; children Evelyn Rivera, Laura Greenleaf, Carmen Rivera and her husband Jurgen Mochel, Edward Rivera, Janet Mednik and her husband Buddy Mednik, Richard Rivera and fiancee Nancy Lombard and Ann Marie Smith and husband Jason Smith; nine grandchildren Charles Chapin, Jennifer Greenleaf, Michael Greenleaf, Danielle Hall, Eric Greenleaf, Alexander Ward, Lauren Smith, Adam Smith, Jeremy Mednik; great-granddaughter Isabella Harrison; and sisters Annie McAfee and Stella Sanchez. He will join his parents, Anita and Desiderio Rivera, brother Carpio Rivera and sister Lita Garcia. Tony retired after serving his country for 21 years with the US Army; he was decorated during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Kenneth Thompson Construction Co. until he retired at age 65. He will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at French, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel; visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2009, 10:00 a.m. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge NE. CHAVEZ -- Arthur Chavez passed away at the age of 29 years on June 6, 2009 in Red River, New Mexico. He was born in Grants, New Mexico on August 17, 1979. He attended school in both Moriarty and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he met his elementary school sweetheart, Shyla Martinez. Arthur was a General Contractor who owned his own company Chavez Builders for the past four years. Arthur was a loving father who was devoted to his wife and children. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and camping. He was also an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins. He was a member of the New Beginnings church and always strived to be kind, loving and supportive to those in need. Arthur is survived by his wife Shyla; his children Arthur Lucero, daughter Erica Chavez and his baby boy Julian Chavez; his father Arturo Avila, his mother Mary Chavez; his grandmother Emilia Chavez; his siblings Chris Chavez and wife Eva of Albuquerque, Belinda Avila and husband Marcos of Santa Fe, Regina Chavez and husband Charles of Albuquerque, Isaac Chavez and wife Teresa of Edgewood, Manuel Chavez, Phillip Chavez and wife Janice; 12 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Arthur loved life and his family and always demonstrated a great sense of humor as well as a willingness to lend a hand. He lived his life to the fullest. Arthur was intensely loved and will be much missed by his entire family and all of his many friends. Funeral Services will be held at the New Beginnings church on the corner of Carlisle and Montgomery. The Memorial Service will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with the Burial to follow. NICHOLS -- Harry Ross Nichols died on Monday, June 22, 2009. He was 85 years old. Harry was born on August 23, 1923 to Winfield & Herdella Nichols in East Jordan, Michigan. Harry is survived by his wife, Anne Justine Neuberg-Nichols, his two daughters, Patricia Marinelli and Lynn Soltero, and by his two granddaughters, Geriann Coultas and Rebecca Smith. Harry and Anne's only son, Win Charles Nichols, died the previous year from Cerebral Palsy with Advanced Scoliosis. Harry accomplished much in his life. After being enlisted in the Air Force for well over 30 years, he retired as an (E-8) Senior Master Sergeant in 1973. He later became a large part of the Masonic Lodge and opened his own small engine repair business, Nichols Saw Shop. Harry was a wonderful and well respected husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. No services are scheduled at this time. STURGEON -- Braelyn Hope Sturgeon, infant daughter of Brandon and Lynelle Sturgeon went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Braelyn came into this world too soon and was taken too soon. Now she is in Heaven where she can be held and cuddled and loved by God, but she will live on in our hearts forever. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Kaitlyn Sturgeon; maternal grandparents, Vic and Lori DeAnda, paternal grandparents, Steve and Sharon Sturgeon and Pete and Krista Rodriquez; and a large extended family consisting of great-grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. Braelyn is being greeted in Heaven by her uncle, Kevin DeAnda. RYAN -- Sue Ann Ryan, born on February 6, 1942, passed away July 15, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Sue is preceded in death by her father Charles Ryan, mother Wilma Roger Ryan, and sister Connie Tweet. She is survived by her daughter Mindy and husband Donald Lafler; life partner Jane Moorman; brother Gary Ryan; sisters Linda Dachsteiner and Sally Everett; grandchildren Matthew Moore, Randy Lafler, and Emily Lafler; and many nieces and nephews. BARBER -- Charles Vincent Barber, 28, suddenly passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. He was born to Charles and Karen Barber, February 4, 1981 in Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Barber in 2001. He is survived by his mother, Karen Barber; his sisters, Dr. Anita D. Barber and Natalie M. Bush (Jon); his niece, Sofia L.
