ANDERSON -- Kenny P. Anderson, 70, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010. Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving companion of twenty years, Olivia; his great-grandson, Joseph Casias; his children, Linda Anderson, Valerie Anderson, Troy Anderson and wife, Christine, Phyllis Pohl and husband, Steven, Stan Anderson; his sister, Dolly Aguirre and husband, Michael; his brother, Richard W. Anderson; twenty one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a very large and loving extended family and friends. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Anderson and a sister, Peggy Chavez. Mr. Anderson was a member to the Catholic Church and an employee of APS for many years. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feburary 9, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited 7:00 p.m. by Joe and Joyce Lucero. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Gerry Steinmetz, presider. Interment will follow at Mt. BENAVIDEZ -- Danny R. Benavidez, 51, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 6, 2010 at home with his loving family at his side. Danny is survived by his children, Daniel Benavidez, Enrique Benavidez and life partner, Leslie, Angelica Benavidez, and Jude Lucero; his parents, Joe C. and Novie Benavidez; his sister, Cecilia Lujan and husband Rudy; his brothers, Joe Larry Benavidez, Duane Benavidez and wife, Michelle, and Raymond Benavidez; and four grandchildren. Danny was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. M.C. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Lita Pino. DOYLE -- Virginia Maria Puccini, born October 28, 1922 in Viareggio, Italy, beloved wife, friend, and Albuquerque entertainment matriarch passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010. Virginia was an international dancer, trapeze artist and acrobat, and headlined throughout the United States and Europe. Virginia's experiences included being a trapeze and acrobatic artist with Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus, she was invited to appear on the famous Ed Sullivan Show, appeared in Marlene Dietrich's "Golden Earrings" in 1947 and was a life-long member of AGVA. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 43 years, Thomas P. Doyle, her parents Luigi and Iole Puccini, and grandparents Oreste and Maria Bachechi. Virginia was raised in Albuquerque. As an Albuquerque High School student, she opened the Voncel Dance Studio in Downtown Albuquerque, and then began her dance career. After her retirement from performing, Virginia and her husband Tom ran nightclubs in Kentucky, Texas and New Mexico. Virginia was on the cutting edge of Albuquerque's Downtown revitalization when, in 1981, she transformed a dilapidated movie theater and lamp shop in a boarded up downtown area into the Historic El Rey Theater and Puccini's Golden West Saloon, one of the Southwest's foremost performance venues. Virginia had a heart of gold and a great deal of compassion for others. Until the end of her life, Virginia tried to help any person who asked, and often did without herself. Her philosophy was always to try and give someone work and to help give them a new life. Virginia is survived by her sister, Adelina Puccini Timofeyew, brother, Orestino Puccini, nieces and nephews Ekaterina (Kathy) Timofeyew Zimmer and husband Michael Peters, Louis Puccini and wife Joan, Larry Puccini and wife Karen, Richard Puccini and wife Cassie, and Annette Puccini Crabtree and her husband Bob, several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, as well as dear friend Diana Bernal. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 with viewing at 6:30 p.m. and rosary at 7:30 p.m. at French - University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, February 11th at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper NW, at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Gate of Heaven. French 1111 University Blvd. NE (505) 843-6333

EAKES -- Richard "Dick" Eakes, age 75, passed away early Saturday morning on February 6, 2010. Richard Graham Eakes was born in Buffalo, NY on August 29, 1934 to Graham Otis and Mabel Caroline Eakes. A longtime resident of Albuquerque since 1959, he started his career as a draftsman with ACF industries. A career move took him to Sandia National Laboratories from which he later retired. Richard spent many of his retirement days on the San Juan River as an avid fly fisherman. He tied many flies that he enjoyed making from his hunting adventures. He had a great love of photography ad was often seen with a camera around his neck capturing his love of the great outdoors. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sister, Sally Prendergast of Buffalo, NY; brother, Alan Eakes and wife Linda of Charlotte, NC.; his 3 children, Gregory Eakes, and wife Nori of Bakersfield, CA; Guy Eakes of Albuquerque, NM; Helen Gates, and husband Randy of Albuquerque, NM; 8 grand children, 1 great grandson, many nieces, nephews and friends. GARCIA -- Ruben, 76, an Albuquerque area Horseman and longtime restaurateur, passed away from a sudden heart attack on Wednesday morning, February 3, 2010. He was born December 23, 1933 to Islavio and Isabel Garcia. Ruben is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucy Garcia, his three children; son, Alonzo Garcia and wife Hilary Butler of Des Moines, IA, son, Nicholas Sandoval and wife Geraldine, Liz Sandoval and husband Edward, his sisters Josie Vigil, Annie Cordova, brothers David and Tim Garcia, and brother-in-law Mike Sacoman all of Albuquerque. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he spoke of them often, they are; Alonzo Garcia, Jr., Jason Sandoval, Ruben J. Garcia, Gabriel Sandoval and Rita Garcia, Ruben is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. Ruben, a life long area businessman, was the owner of several area restaurants and a pioneer of the food pavilion at the New Mexico State Fair in the early 80's and was awarded a proclamation for his efforts. Ruben was also a Horseman and raced at meets around the state for 40 years. He was a member of the New Mexico Horseman's Association as well as the Horse Breeders Association. Every year he attended the Breeder's Cup Races all around the country including New York, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland and California, and went to train his horses daily at Albuquerque Downs Race track. Casket bearers will be Alonzo Garcia, Jason Sandoval, Gabriel Sandoval, Aaron Sacoman, Ruben Garcia and Roland Martinez. Honorary Casket bearers are; Rita Garcia, and Brian Baloskovits. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Monday, February 8, 2010 at Garcia Mortuary 8th street chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9:00am at St. Anne Catholic Church. LUCERO -- Raymond J. Lucero. Fondly known as "Ray and Pops", age 70, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, boss and friend, passed away quietly after a short battle with cancer, Thursday, February 4, 2010. Ray graduated from Valley High School where he lettered four years in golf and wrestling. Out of high school, he joined the Air National Guard and started his career in flooring with his uncle Billy with Heights Carpet in 1959. In the Guard, he met Joe Salaz "Bobby", where he was introduced to Bobby's sister, Dorothy. Dorothy and Ray soon married and started their family in the Village of Los Ranchos. The remained married for 45 years until our beloved Dorothy passed away in 2008. Ray and Dorothy started Ray's Carpet out of their home and incorporated in 1972. Early on in his career, Ray started relationships in business with Jaynes Corporation and focused primarily on commercial flooring. Today, Ray's has done business with nearly every major General Contractor in New Mexico and includes projects in Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Nevada. In the last 20 years, Ray's also grew into one of the largest Builder Contractors in the state. Ray had a love for horse racing over the past 25 years and owned several horses. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, sports and of course golf. In 2001 with the help of his sons, staff and our vendors started a customer appreciation golf tournament which supports families in need or local charities. A very proud moment for Ray was in 2005 when his company was New Mexico's Minority Owned Small Business of the Year. "Pops" was loved by all who were fortunate enough to meet him and he will be missed like no other, but let us celebrate his life. His legacy will live in all of us forever. And lastly, for all of you that were a part of his life, especially his doctors and care givers, we are forever thankful and you will always be a part of our family. Ray is survived by his loving children, Ray Lucero, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Gerald Lucero and wife Monica, Martin Lucero and wife Stacy, Chris Lucero and Bernadette Frederick and husband Richard; his grandchildren, Racquel, Janelle, Ray, Justin, Nathan, Jessica, Brandon, Elizabeth, Nicole, Erica, Andres, Noah, Dylan, Luke, Bailey, Vanessa and Julian; a sister, Patsy Perez and husband Eddie; and many other relatives and friends. Ray "Pops" will be greatly missed by all. MONTIEL -- Charles Gregory Montiel Sr., age 39 of Albuquerque, went to be with God on Thursday, February 4, 2010. He was born December 2, 1970 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. He was reared in Albuquerque's North Valley and attended La Luz ES, Garfield MS, Valley HS and graduated from Albuquerque Evening HS in 1989. As an adult he divided his time between Albuquerque and Las Vegas, NV. His favorite casino was the Bellagio. He is survived by his children, Charles Gregory Montiel Jr. and Jacqueline Miranda Montiel; his parents Louie S. Montiel and Maria Dolores Montiel (nee Cortez); along with his siblings Maria Cabrera; Julia Hernandez; Cynthia Pettit; Steve Montiel and Antonio Montiel; 15 nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Monday, February 8, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. and will follow with a Rosary and wake at 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd NE.
