TRUSSELL -- Barbara Trussell, 61, born August 18, 1948 in Sidney, New York died at her home in Los Lunas, NM on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Her 18 year battle with breast cancer ended while surrounded by family, friends and the things she loved. Barbara moved to El Paso, TX in 1959 where she met her eventual life partner Lieutenant Larry Trussell. She married Larry November 12, 1969 and they remained inseparable for 39 years. Barbara was a longtime employee of the Albuquerque Academy Library where she enjoyed being surrounded by students and helping them prepare to succeed in life. Barbara is the daughter of Grace and Charles Fletcher, wife to Larry Trussell, mother to Travis Trussell and sister to Betty Jean DeWitt, Dale Fletcher and Danny Fletcher. To everyone else she was a devoted friend, creator of mirth, lover of animals and seeker of the sun. Her indomitable spirit left its imprint on all those who were fortunate enough to come in contact with her. Her zeal for life is evidence in the fact it took this disease 18 years to overcome her body but it never took her spirit. She leaves a legacy for all to follow and a lesson for each to learn; her strength lied solely in her tenacity and her faith bound by those around her. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 23, 2009, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Albuquerque Academy Library Fund, 6400 Wyoming Blvd. NE, 87109. Please visit our online guestbook for Barbara at www.RememberTheirStory.com.
