TAFOYA -- Genevieve "Veva" Tafoya, 66, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. A long time resident of Albuquerque, Genevieve was born November 28, 1943 in Gallup, NM and was preceded in death by her parents, Claudio and Arelia Padilla; husband, Steven R. Tafoya; her son, Tommy Martinez, Jr.; brother, Joey Trujillo; and special nephew, Douglas Flores. She is survived by her children, David Martinez of AZ, Andrew Martinez of Albuquerque, Valerie Garcia (Randy) of Edgewood, Danny Martinez of Albuquerque, Gina Zamora of Albuquerque, Monique Marquez (Armando) of Albuquerque, Rudy Tafoya of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Gina Ramirez; 15 grandchildren, Genevieve, Margaret, Angela, Andrew, Kristina, Stephanie, Adriana, David, Giovanna, Jorjette, Jenevah, Flo, Jr., Demetrius, Jason, Nicodemus; nine great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mary "Tomi" Perales, Johnny Padilla, Martin Padilla, Super Padilla; a brother and sister-in-law, Judy and Jim Ostile; she will also be greatly missed by many nephews, nieces and friends. Genevieve enjoyed spending time with her friends at the casinos, making tamales and caring for her house plants. ALARID -- Agnes M. Alarid, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 5, 2010. Mrs. Alarid is survived by her beloved husband of 78 years, Mr. Tony Alarid; her daughters, Dolores Villanueva and husband, Philip, and Elizabeth Padilla and husband, Carmel; her son-in-law, Joe Solano; grandchildren, Michelle Torrez, Melissa Roveto, Martin Villanueva, Monica Padilla, Anthony Padilla, Joseph Solano, Bernadette Solano, Matthew Villanueva, Grace Pagliaro, and Jennifer Marquez; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and two on the way; and many nieces, and nephews; Mrs. Alarid was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Dolores Baca; sister, Adela Pacheco and her husband, Johnny Pacheco; her brother, Richard Baca; her daughters, Shirley Alarid and Jean Solano; and her great-granddaughters, Agnes and Grace. Mrs. Alarid was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a member of the Legion of Mary. WEAVER -- Gladys Conant Weaver - Loved by All Five years ago this past October 19th, Gladys Conant Weaver went to a better place. She was born March 10, 1910 to John and Gladys Conant near Conant in the northeastern New Mexico territory. Her New Mexico pioneer family of nine generations descended under the Marquez Spanish land grant. Her parents homesteaded Rayo, built the +WT ranch in northeastern Socorro County, and resided at Turn and Bosque in Valencia County. Her four younger brothers were, Johnny, Clifton, Pop and Ken. Gladys was Belen High's 1929 Valedictorian. At the University of New Mexico she was president of Phi Mu sorority. Gladys moved to Los Angeles and wed Tom Kuenster in 1934. She is particularly remembered for her great love, sharing, compassion, enthusiasm, spirituality, sociability, optimism, patriotism, inspiration, grace, and support. She headed numerous causes, concurrently donated to 16 charities, and received the first lifetime achievement award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Gladys rests at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California beside her daughter Sandy. She is greatly loved and missed by many friends and son Tommy Kuenster; grandchildren Teri Harmon, Frank Fredericks, Bob Fredericks and John Kenster; sisters-in-law Kat Conant of Belen; Wanda Conant; and Glen Rose Frielander, a Belen High graduate; eight great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces Janice Peter, Sis Conant and Maxine Conant, all of Belen; Mike Conant and Cookie Mathews of Tome; Connie Blackmer of Albuquerque; John Conant and Mickey Craig, from +WT ranch; Candy; and Cindy.

BALDONADO -- Florenio B. Baldonado, age 86, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 2, 2009. He was born on March 12, 1922 in Albuquerque, to the late Nativida and Severo R. Baldonado. Florenio was proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country during World War II, in England, France and Germany. He was a graduate of Browning College. He retired from Sandia National Labs after 34 years of employment, where he was fondly known as "Baldy". He was preceded in death by his wife Leonila L. Baldonado, November 2004; six brothers; and two sisters. Florenio is survived by his brothers-in-law, Ross C. Lopez, Lesman Chavez; his nephew, Bonifacio Baldonado; his niece, Mildred B. Sanchez; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Florenio will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Tony was born on December 19, 1924 to the late Casimiro and Florencia Lovato in Algodones, NM, and was a resident of Albuquerque formerly of California. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served his country during the World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Tony was a member of the American Legion Post #69. Tony is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a few of his siblings, Juanita and Pete Lovato, Frances Martinez, Irene Sandoval, Jessie Griego, and Vicky Archibeque. TAPIA -- Paul L. Tapia. Our beloved Paul, formally of Alamogordo, NM, went with our Lord, Friday, October 17, 2008 following a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his first wife Lois Woodword Tapia, his father Jose Hill Tapia, sister Nora Larranaga, and brother Moises Tapia. Paul was born June 21, 1931 in Tapia, New Mexico, the son of Jose and Pablita Tapia. He attended school at New Mexico School for The Blind. At the time he retired in 1986 he was the Dean of Academics. He was inducted into the New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped Hall of Fame. Paul was instrumental in starting the University of New Mexico Wrestling Team. He formally was a member of the Boy Scouts Of America, earning his Eagle Scout badge, and later served as a Boy Scout leader. Paul is survived by his wife Delia Tapia of Santa Fe, his mother Pablita Tapia of Albuquerque, sisters; Corinne Larranaga (Alfred) of Edgewood, Carmen Romero (Gilbert) of Los Lunas, Alice Sanchez (Rey) of California, and Sarah Floyd (Larry) of Amarillo, TX, brothers; Celestino Tapia of Santa Fe, Sam Tapia (Claudine) of Bayard, NM, and Abe Tapia (Kathy) of Santa Fe, and sister-in-law Genieva Woodword. All of Paul's nieces and nephews were special to him, but because his love for the sport of wrestling he was very fond of Jose, Javier, Johnny Tapia, and Samuel Tapia. He is also survived by his stepchildren; Arthur Marquez, Leo Marquez (Nadine), Frank Marquez (Beth), Irene Muller (Tony), and step grandchildren; Emily Mueller, Anthony Muller, Alex, Mike, Brandie, and Artie Marquez. A Rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. also on Wednesday at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community.
