Stumblingbear -- Thelma Mae (Bointy) Stumlingbear, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on August 10, 1998 at the Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice unit. She was 73 years old, born in Lawton, Oklahoma, March 18, 1926. Thelma married Cecil A. Stumblingbear in January 22, 1949 at Anadarko, Oklahoma. The mother of one son and three daughters, Alfred Stumblingbear, Shalotte, North Carolina, Barbara Collins-Stumblingbear of Lawrence, KS, Debbie Stumblingbear of Crookston, MN, and Brenda Stumblingbear, deceased. She has nine grandchildren, Pete, Jerod, and Jason Buffalohead, Andy and Dustin Stumblingbear, Jocelyn, Nicole (Carter), Andrea (deceased) and Micah Stumblingbear; five great-grandchildren, Allana, Keetha, and Alia Buffalohead, Geoffrey Wahwassuck, and Christopher Carter. A member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, she was the daughter of George Bointy and Bessie Meahkah; the granddaughter of Chief Apeahtone; and great-granddaughter of Chief Red Otter. She has two brothers, Byron Bointy, Lawton, OK and Thomas Keahbone, deceased; five sisters, Audrey Carter, Lawton, OK, Marilyn Spottedhorse, Mt. View, OK, Barbara Roberts, Gallup, NM, Buena Jones, Philadelphia, MS, and Annette Bointy, deceased. A graduate of Elgin High School, Elgin, OK and attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1994 with 40 years of federal service. During her career as a federal employee she worked 20 years in Civil Service at Fort Sill, OK, ten years in Indian Health Services at Tucson, AZ, and ten years in the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Albuquerque. She was a member of the Lawton Indian Baptist Church, Lawton, OK. Services and burial will be conducted at Rainy Mt. Indian Baptist Church, Fort Cobb, OK, Friday, August 14, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Larin Kerr officiating. Cremation arrangements were provided by Metropolitan Direct Burial and Cremation Center, Inc., 601 Mountain Rd. NW, Albuquerque, 766-9400.

Montano -- Porfirio"Pete" Montano, 68, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Monday, June 15, 1998. Porfirio was born on January 15, 1930 in San Antonio, NM to Cirilio and Catarina Montano. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cirilio and Catarina; sister, Dora and brother, Daniel. He is also survived by his wife, Dolores and daughter, Barbara, from the family home; daughters, Claudine and husband, Albert of Glorietta, Sandra from Santa Fe, NM; and sons, Rudy from Santa Cruz, NM, Porfie, Chris and Steve all from Santa Fe, NM; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren; brothers, Teddy, Rudy and Tobias Montano; sister, Frances Maestas, and many numerous cousins and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 1998 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Lei -- Melvin Robert Lei, 70, died Sunday, May 31, 1998 at his home in Rio Rancho. He was born on February 25, 1928, in Sydney, NE, a son of Alex G. and Eva Behm Lei. On January 18, 1989, he married Jesusita G. Celo ("Suzette"), in Makati, Manila, in the Philippine Islands. Melvin was raised in Brush, CO, and lived and worked in Padroni, CO for many years before moving to Rio Rancho. Survivors include his beloved wife,"Suzette;" and adopted daughters, Jave and Maria Jarryd; father, Alex G. Lei (a resident of Sedgwick Memorial Hospital, Julesburg, CO); six brothers; and three sisters, Lorraine (Bob) Shelton, of Sedgwick, CO, Arnold of Lincoln, NE, Caroline Dechant of Las Vegas, NV, Harvey and his wife of Olympia, WA, Gerald (Pauline) of Denver, CO, James (Liz) of Sedgwick, CO, Ernest (Janice) of Lantana, FL, Roland (Carla) of Aurora, CO, Marilyn Law of Julesburg, CO; a foster daughter,"Luz" Otero of Brush, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Behm Lei (1989); and his brother, Herbert (1997). He will be dearly missed by Nick and Eva DeMien, Bill and Ophelia Schwengel, all of Albuquerque. Services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd. (at Abrazo Rd.), Rio Rancho, NM, on Friday, June 5, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. L. K. Hagen will officiate. Gallegos -- Josie B. Gallegos, 73, passed away Monday, March 16, 1998 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Portales, NM. Mrs. Gallegos was born on January 24, 1925 in Encino, NM, the daughter of Mary T. and Alfredo Bachicha Sr. She married Antonio R. Gallegos on July 3, 1947 in Encino, NM. Mrs. Gallegos lived the majority of her life in Encino. After the death of her husband she moved to Portales in 1982. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, and the Cursillista. She was also an active Bingo player. Mrs. Gallegos was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Bachicha; and by her husband, Antonio, who died September 5, 1977. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Estelle Gallegos of Bosque Farms, Victor and Lori Ann Gallegos of Albuquerque, and Steve and Alice Gallegos of Las Cruces, NM; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Faviana and Charles Pettus, Maria Jarecki, Joanne Gallegos, and Bernadette Gallegos, all of Portales, and Emily and Anthony Montano of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfredo Bachicha and Richard Bachicha, both of Portales, and Tommy Bachicha of Albuquerque; five sisters, Connie Sisneros and Gloria Ortega, both of Portales, Margie Ortega and Terry Luna, both of Albuquerque, and Mariantonia Zumbrun of Los Angeles, CA; several nieces and nephews; also by her mother-in-law, Dona Beatrice Gallegos; and nine brothers and sisters-in-law, all of Vaughn, NM. A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening, March 18, 1998, 7:00 p.m., at Wheeler Chapel. A second rosary service will be held on Thursday evening, March 19, 7:00 p.m., at St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated on Friday morning, March 20, at 11:00 a.m, with Fr. Anthony Martinez, Celebrant. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Montano, Jesse Montano, Ramon Jimemez Jr., Raymond Ornelas, Keith Wattenberger, Gabriel Gallegos, Anthony Paul Gallegos, and Julio Castillo. Garcia -- Jimmy Garcia, 63, passed away Sunday, March 15, 1998. Mr. Garcia was born January 6, 1936 in New Mexico and is survived by his children, Barbara Garcia, Jeanette Garcia, James Garcia, Millie Garcia, Jude Garcia and step-daughter, Darlene Armijo, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucinda Walyd of Wisconsin, Beatriz Anaya, Piedad Sullivan, Bennie Garcia and husband, Juanito, and brother, Alfonzo Garcia, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Garcia had 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Family funeral services are to be at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Atrisco, with Fr. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Gomez of Albuquerque; daughters, Lillie Vega of Las Cruces and Annette Jones and husband, Chris of Tucson, AZ. She retired from the Human Services Department after 21 years of service. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Fr. Jim Moore, Celebrant. ol. Charles C. Harding,F (Retired), died on March 14, 1998. He had been a resident of New Mexico since 1952. He is survived by his wife, Twila M. Harding of the family home; one son, John W. Harding of Socorro, NM; one grandson, Adam Harding of San Lorenzo, NM; and three sisters, Mrs. Yvonne Dobbins of Ft. Bragg, CA, Mrs. Dawn Kingsley of Schenectady, NY, and Mrs. Lois Pelligrino of Gloversville, NY. Harding was born in Gloversville, NY on September 30, 1914. After serving two years in Co. I, 2nd Regt., NY Guard, he entered the Air Force and retired on September 30, 1962. His service included N. Africa, Combat crew duty in Italy, and the Aleutian Islands; the Korean War, and participation in a series of Atomic Tests at Indian Springs AFB in Nevada. Throughout his life, Harding had been an outdoorsman. He had fished, hunted, shot rifle and pistol, skied, golfed, and was a motorcyclist. Cremation has taken place and cremains will be interred in the Santa Fe National Cemetry, Santa Fe, NM. There will be no other services. Cremation arrangements by Sunrise Society of New Mexico, (891-8200). nia Mackey Horn, 83, away on March 15, 1998, in Albuquerque. She was born on July 6, 1914 in Parson, Kansas to George John Mackey and Sabina S. Beltz. Mrs. Horn is survived by her brother, Joe Mackey of Albuquerque. She moved from Bossier, LA 2 1/2 years ago. She was a member of the Airline Baptist Church and the Gold Star Wives Club in Bossier. Mrs. Horn was employed as a Civil Servant before retirement. Visitation will be held at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at the Carlisle Plaza United Methodist Church, (3023 Montclaire Dr. NE), at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Patty Walker officiating. Services will also be held in Bossier, LA on Saturday, March 21, 2:00 p.m., at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Bossier. Floral arrangements may be made by calling 821-0010.
