Smith -- Cora Mabel Smith, 78, in loving memory of a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whom has sacrificed all for her family. A resident of Albuquerque and formally of Madison, AK, passed away on January 20, 2000. Cora retired from the Civil Service after 13 years of outstanding service. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil Collins Smith in 1969; one son, Charles Franklin Smith; her parents, Lucy Vilena Clark (McGhee) and Rufus Walker Clark; two sisters, Flora May (Clark) Gage and Dora Clark; three brothers, Joseph Samual Clark, Lee Roy and Doy LaFayette Clark; one great-grandson, Michael Ray Olivas. Cora is survived by two children, James Clark Smith of Albuquerque, and Virginia Arlene Heard and her husband, Daniel of Los Lunas; four grandchildren, Rhonda Rene Olivas and her husband, Ramon Jr. and Kimberly Ann Simmons, Keith Charles Smith and Tamara Kimberly Smith; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Michelle Olivas, Andrew Ray Olivas, Aron Michael Olivas, Samantha Marie Boesiger, Deanna Leeann Boesiger, Ryan Alexander Simmons. Cora's family requests that donations be made in her name to your local American Cancer Society, and the American Diabetes Association. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Christy -- Tara Lynette Christy, 37, a lifetime resident of Tijeras, passed away January 18, 2000 in her home. She was born to Charles Shilling and Sandra Lee (Walton) May 24, 1962 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her father, Charles Shilling and wife, Bertie of Duncan, OK; her mother, Sandra Lee and husband, Bob of Tijeras; her husband, Charles Albert Christy Jr. of Sedillo, NM; her beautiful daughter, Tavanna Lynette Christy; step-daughter, Brittany Christy; her brother, Burt Shilling and Suzi Bowles of Edgewood; her step-brothers, Roger Lee and Bert Lee; her sister, Vanessa Pacheco of Tahlequah, OK; her step-sisters, Teressa Stephens, Vickie McCauley; her grandmothers, Eda Mae Davis of Albuquerque and Mary E. Shilling of Marlow, OK; her nephews, Richard, David and James Pacheco; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a world of friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Christy, who passed away May 9, 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tijeras and had attended the San Isidro Catholic Church in Sedillo, NM. Tara was a spiritual person and always enjoyed every moment that life had to offer. She made lifelong friends and made lasting impressions on all those that came into her life. Tara always saw the good and love in everyone she met. She loved whole heartily, and could see no fault. She took life slowly and took the time to smell the roses. She will be greatly missed by those she had left behind. Viewing will be Friday, January 21, 2000, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Moriarty, NM. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Tijeras, Saturday, January 22, 2000, 10:00 a.m., with Pastor John Torrison officiating. Burial will follow at the San Isidro Catholic Cemetery in Sedillo, NM, with Father John Carney officiating at the ceremony. There will be a lunch after the burial at the First Baptist Church of Tijeras. The family would like to invite everyone to come eat and fellowship. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM.

Encinias -- Mrs. Deluvina M. Encinias died Tuesday in Albuquerque at the age of 73. Mrs. Encinias was a member of Holy Ghost Parish. She is survived by her sons, Braulio Encinias and wife, Tim, Adan Encinias and wife, Diane, Erminio Encinias and wife, Ines, all of Albuquerque, Chris Encinias and wife, Carol of Rio Rancho, Eddie Encinias and wife, Peggy of Bernalillo, Ted Encinias and wife, Merlinda of Rio Rancho, Frank Encinias of Bernalillo, and Tony Encinias and wife, Helen of Albuquerque; daughters, Margie Rende and husband, James of Modesto, CA and Sussie Encinias of Albuquerque; brothers, Salomon Madrid and wife, Amelia, Juan Madrid and wife, Avelina, all of Texas, and Tobias Madrid and wife, Antonia of Tecolotito, NM; sister, Frances Madrid of Tucumcari; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Encinias will be held on Friday at the St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico, NM, where the Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at the Upper Anton Chico Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew Sanchez, Joe Diaz, Eugene Encinias, Eddie Encinias Jr., Camilo Encinias and Adan Encinias Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Encinias, Miguel Encinias, Sisto Encinias, and Donaciano Madrid. A Rosary for Mrs. Encinias will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Arthur -- Jonnie Michael"Mike" Arthur Sr., born January 10, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Jim and Blanche Arthur, died January 16, 2000. Mike worked in the cabinet and formica business 37 years, 20 of those years he was owner of JMA Carpenter Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Philip B. Arthur. He is survived by wife, Mary Ann; sons, Martin, Mike Jr., Jesse; daughters, Millicent and Michelle; brothers, Jim Jr. and wife, Margaret, Jeff and wife, Tamara; sister, Janet and Robert; sisters-in-law, Clovia R. Segura, Virginia C. Ortiz and David Ortiz; brothers-in-law, Roy and Katie Rivera, Joe and Edna Rivera, Lee and Josie Rivera, James and Pita Rivera, Bernie and Melba Rivera, Fred and Kathy Rivera; and numerous nephews and nieces which included Melissa Schiflett and Phillip Arthur Jr., whom he had recently gotten reacquainted with at the death of his brother in July, 1998. Services will be held at Glory Hall, 2417 Wyoming NE, at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2000. Funeral service at Santa Barbara Catholic Church in Sile, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday with burial following. Sile, NM is located South of Cochiti Lake. Castillo -- Mary M. Castillo, 81, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2000. Mrs. Castillo was born in Clayton, NM on December 23, 1918 to the late Gregorio and Francisquita Miera; she was a parishioner of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest J. Castillo of the family home; one son, Orlando F. Castillo and wife Margie; two grandsons, James Castillo and wife Elma and Rick Castillo and wife Lurlaine; three great-granddaughters Cheyenne, Brianna and Chantelle Castillo. Also surviving are one sister, Emilia Miera; one brother, Joe G. Miera and wife Reina; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated this morning, 10:00 a.m., at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, located in the Old Town Plaza. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eric Castillo, James Castillo, Mark Miera, Gregory Miera, Michael Galaviz and Jessie Tapia. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.

Messimer -- Donald C. Messimer, 87, a resident of Belen, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2000. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Optimist Club of Belen (noon), the National Association of Retired Federal Employee's, the Alzheimer's Support Group of Albuquerque, and a member of Meals on Wheels. He was very active in the Belen Optimist activities and the community of Belen. Donald was a kind, loving, and caring man who cherished his family and friends. He was always putting their needs ahead of his own. Donald will be greatly missed and will always remain in our memory. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gretchen Messimer in 1982. He is survived by his two children, James Messimer of Albuquerque and Lynne Vivier of San Diego and her husband, Donald; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Quoted by a friend:"Donald not only lived in the Christian ideal, he was it." A viewing will be held on Thursday, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral service will celebrated on Thursday, 2:00 p.m., also at Romero Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Phillips -- Edwin R. Phillips, born in Cardiff, Wales, November 17, 1909, to James Edwin and Ellen Phillips. He came to the U.S. at the age of two. He was an Honor graduate of New York University's School of Engineering and a retired Sandia Laboratory engineer. He is survived by his wife to whom he had been married for 60 years; and two adult children. No local services are planned. Memorial services will be held in Salisbury, Connecticut where his wife's family has lived since Connecticut was a colony.

King -- Joshua D. King, 14, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2000 at University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona, following a courageous two year battle with Leukemia. Joshua is survived by his mother, Janice King; grandmother, Betty Cericola; great-grandmother, Sabina Faba; uncles, James Cericola and Stanley Albrycht; aunts, Cheryl Cericola, Debbie Albrycht and Karen Cericola; cousins, Tiffany, Nick, Amanda, Brandon, Michael, Matthew and Katelyn; and numerous other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Mesa View United Methodist Church, 4701 Montano Rd. NW, with Rev. John Schwarting officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joshua King's name may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 2230 E.
