Doyle -- Josephine Messina (Sciarrotta) Doyle 73, passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2003 at home after a valiant battle against cancer. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle nature and loved by all whom knew her. An exceptionally devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful cook and her great Italian meals were something we all looked forward to. A long time resident of Albuquerque, she was born December 19, 1929 in Trenton, New Jersey to Carmelo and Carmella Messina. She attended Trenton High School and worked at Cordey China and Lee Overalls in Trenton. She attended Beauty Academy in Trenton and pursued a career in Cosmotology. Josie continued her career for many years in Albuquerque as both a teacher and hairdresser. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Peter James Sciarrotta, Sr. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Dave L. Doyle, Sr; and her four sons, Philip P. Sciarrotta and wife, Kathy of Corrales, NM, Carm Sciarrotta of Albuquerque, NM, Peter J. Sciarrotta, Jr. and wife, Nina of Knoxville, TN, and David L. Doyle, Jr. and wife, Erin of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Messina and wife, Anna Mae of Trenton, NJ; her sisters, Marie Moceri and husband, John of West Palm Beach, FL and Frances Severino and husband, Carm of Trenton, NJ; sister-in-law, Chicky Cammiso of Yardley, PA; and her aunts, Helen Sizemore of Trenton, NJ and Alice Musterel of Pamona, NJ. She has nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Francisco Ampuero, his nurse Debbie, and his staff; Sylvia, her hospice nurse and the hospice staff; and the lab technicians at Laderia Medical Center for the special, gentle, loving care they provided to her. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 14, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Josephs on the Rio Grande Church, 4000 Saint Joseph Place NW. Ashland -- Mary Catherine Ashland (Cat/Kay), 86, a long time resident of Albuquerque, was born on May 13, 1916, in Hindsville, AR to Joseph and Gertrude Phillips. She was called home on March 7, 2003, after an illness of heart disease. Catherine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edward L. Ashland; two daughters and their spouses, Sharon Richards and husband Darrell of Watsontown, Pennsylvania and Linda Dotson and husband James of Albuquerque; and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Ashland of Eugene, Oregon. Catherine was preceded in death by a son, Donald E. Ashland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Phillip and Mark Ashland of California, Matthew Ashland of Oregon, James Holloman of Pennsylvania, and Jessica, Nichol and Stephanie Dotson of Albuquerque; and six great-grandchildren. Catherine was a long time member of Crestview Baptist Church of Albuquerque. She was a devoted wife and mother, tirelessly giving to help anyone in need. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Christenson -- Geraldine F."Gerri" Christenson, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Brian E. Christenson and wife, Margaret of Albuquerque and Jon R. Christenson and wife, Ann of Belen; grandchildren, Erik Christenson and wife, Jessica of Minneapolis, MN, Amy Christenson, Betsy Christenson, both of Belen, James Melton and wife, Chelan of Springfield, TN and Carol Lowe and husband, David of Los Lunas; great-grandchildren, Elijah Christenson, David Melton, Christopher Melton, Maranda Melton, Troy Lowe and Zachary Lowe; sister, Vivian Madsen of Geneva, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Christenson was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harold E. Christenson; and son, Norton Payne Christenson. She was associated with the Girls Scouts of America for over 80 years. Mrs. Christenson also was a member of the Christian Women's Club of Albuquerque. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Monday, 3:00 p.m., at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle NE, with Rev. Joyce Lieberman and Rev. Chris Lieberman officiating. Katz -- K. Dianne Katz was born Thursday, September 11, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. She died Friday, March 7, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM after a valiant battle with cancer. Dianne was preceded in death by her father, Walter Katz and stepfather, Alton Garner. She is survived by her mother, Lucile Garner; uncle, Tony Tagliaferro; aunt, Jenny McNeil and numerous cousins, friends and colleagues. Dianne attended and graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in Albuquerque. She was longtime member of St. Charles Borremo Church. Dianne received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in June, 1969 and from the School of Law in May 1972. She was admitted to practice law in August 1972. Dianne was presented the UNM School of Law Dean's Award on April 27, 1972, for"unselfishly giving of her time and energies in the service of the students, the faculty, and the School of Law." Dianne served on the Board of Directors of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico. In 2000, the New Mexico Women's Bar Association presented Dianne with the"Golden Hammer Award" for her meticulous building of the Habitat for Humanity House. But for Dianne, many, many clients would have been without the exacting, dedicated representation to which she dedicated her life. Regardless of whether a person in need could never pay her, could only pay her $1, or, promised to pay her mere pennies per month, Dianne took care of all her clients in the same way-with all the love and care she had to give. The legal community is indebted to her. She was a member of Pilot Club since 1980, serving as Governor of the Southwest District of Pilot Club International in 1991. Dianne will be remembered as a unique and special person who touched the lives of her family, friends and clients. Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 9, 2003, 7:15 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place SE, with Deacon John Russo reciting. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, March 10, 2003, 9:30 a.m., at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Fr. Robert A. Chabot, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Lightfoot -- Richard Wayne. Richard Wayne Lightfoot, born December 23, 1965, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, passed away on March 5, 2003, at his home in Albuquerque. Richard was a teacher at Dennis Chavez Elementary and had been there since August of 1992. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Waymon and one uncle, Edward. Richard is survived by his mother, Dorothy Nell and grandmother, Dorothy of Corona. Two Uncles, George and wife Margaret of Corona, Wayne and wife Karen of Animas and a Cousin, Tomee of Las Cruces. also cousins: Clay, Bonnie and Mackenzie of Moriarty, Cody and Shannon of Edgewood. Also Denise, Scott and Allison of Martin, Travis and RoeAnne of Corona, Tye, Julie and Kallen of Las Cruces. Timms -- Jesse B. Jesse B. Timms, 79, of Lake Ft. Sumner passed away on March 6, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. Jesse was born on July 27, 1923, in Winters, Texas, to James Leroy and Susan Lois (Condra) Timms. Jesse moved to the Lake Ft. Sumner area 12 years ago, but had lived in Moriarty for 26 years prior. He was a finish blademan in road construction before his retirement. At one time he owned and operated Timms Construction. Jesse was elected twice as a County Commissioner in Torrance County, serving between 1978 and 1981. He was elected Citizen of the Year in 1986. Jesse was a Charter member of the VFW Post # 3370 in Moriarty and a Lifetime member of the American Legion Post also in Moriarty. He was also a member of the Moriarty Lions Club. Jesse is survived by his wife, Lillian Timms of Lake Ft. Sumner, a son, Jesse Wayne Timms of Moriarty Also survived by two Daughters, Sherry Dennison of Moriarty and Nita Sanchez of Los Lunas. Also leaves behind four brothers, Alvin Timms, Travis Timms, Ray Timms and Billy Timms all of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving him are eight sisters, Nita Condra of Lubbock, Frances Long of Oklahoma, Cletta Abney of Lubbock, Dolly Bullard of Lubbock, Pearl Shelton of Lubbock , Nancy Coppedge of Lubbock and Rita Thompson of Amarillo. Jesse also leaves 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Visitation for Jesse will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday March 9, 2003, at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 10, 2003, at The First Baptist Church in Moriarty with Rev. Kenny officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with the VFW Post #3370 officiating and providing Full Military Honors.
