ESQUIVEL -- Chris "Gege" Esquivel, age 45, beloved son and brother, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 31, 2009. He was born on August 10, 1964 and was a life long resident of Albuquerque. Chris is survived by his loving mother, Lydia Esquivel; his father Ray Esquivel and wife Dinah; his brother, Henry Esquivel; sister, Melissa Esquivel; and nephew George Martinez, III.; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and a host of friends. Chris will be greatly missed by all. GABALDON -- Josephine Gabaldon, age 85, a life-long resident of Los Chavez and recently of Los Lunas, NM passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009. She was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church and Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Catholic Daughter for 36 years and Sacred Heart. After raising six children, she became a school bus driver for the Belen Schools, which included being a school bus driver instructor. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, weekly Bible Study, and daily visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Martita Gabaldon; her loving husband of 47 years, Abelino Gabaldon; son-in-law, Denny Gallegos and grandson, Denny M. Gallegos. Josephine is survived by her six children, Gene Gabaldon and wife, Mary Stella, Martha Giron, Adela Baldonado and husband, Mike, Katy Gallegos, Dolores Gabaldon and Sam Espinosa, Roberta Griego and husband, Michael; 12 grandchildren, Abelino and Roberto Gabaldon, Eloy Gerard, Charles and Vincent Giron, Barbara Michael, Michelle "Dina" and Mario Baldonado, Steven and Kristopher Rayner, Candice Griego-Siebenthal and Justine Griego; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Cordova and Helen Salas and two sisters-in-law, Ninfa and Annie Gabaldon. All services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, beginning with a viewing on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 2:30 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. DIAZ -- Fidel A. Diaz, 90, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009. Fidel was born on March 15, 1919 in San Marcial, NM to Luis V. and Luz (Alderete) Diaz. Fidel is survived by Daughter, Sylviana D'Ouville of Albuquerque, NM; Sisters, Amalia Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; Louisa Barreras and husband Benny of Socorro, NM; Marina Gallegos of Socorro, NM; Sally Fernandez of Socorro, NM; and Priscilla Torres and husband Max of Socorro, NM; Grandsons, Xavier D'Ouville; and Carols D'Ouville. BARNUM -- Audrey Barnum, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 21, 2009. The youngest of thirteen children, Audrey was born on February 5, 1929, in Raton, NM, to John F. and Bersaba Barnum. Audrey worked for and retired from the Small Business Administration. Following her retirement she did volunteer work for healthcare organizations. She had a great love for caring for animals, especially her "doggies". JINZO -- Joann Jinzo, 57, born October 21, 1951, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009. She is survived by her husband, Luciano Jinzo; Momma Betty Jean Gomez; children, Desiree Sanchez, Joanne Marie Sedillo, Annette Trujillo, Luciano Jinzo Jr. and Dan Jinzo; grandchildren, Albert and Johanna Sanchez; Danny and Shawna Culler, Brianna Trujillo, Manuel, Natalie, Teto, April and Brittany Sedillo; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Chavez/Sanchez, Jonathan, Manny, Nicholas and Nathaniel Sedillo; two brothers; five sisters; and best friend, Lorraine Gallegos. She was a member of the "Over the Hill Gang" Car Club. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Holy Family Church. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 starting with viewing at 8:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family. Burial will follow the services at Sunset Memorial Park. SANCHEZ -- Sotero J. Sanchez, Jr. passed away on October 19, 2009 at the age of 88. Sotero was born in Delia and raised in Santa Rosa, NM where he graduated from Santa Rosa High School (at the Old Alamo) in 1938. He attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. He volunteered during WWII and in April of 1942 after 13 weeks of basic training, was attached to the Army Medical Corp Camp J.T. Robinson. (the Camp Pike) in Little Rock, AR. Later in he was transferred and served as an Instructor at the School for Medical Department Enlisted Technicians in Denver, Co. He was Honorably Discharged in June of 1943 on disability. He served as a member of Santa Rosa's Governing Body and was elected Mayor of Santa Rosa for five consecutive terms. He was also elected President of the New Mexico Municipal League for five consecutive terms. In 1971 he accepted a position with the New Mexico Municipal League as Program Director, Deputy Director and also alternating as Acting Director when needed until his retirement in 1986. In Santa Rosa he worked closely with St. Rose of Lima Parish, St. Rose School and was also a forth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was one of the leaders in helping pass the Anti by-pass legislation to prevent the U.S. Bureau of Public roads from by-passing any town with out their permission. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sotero M. Sanchez, Sr. and Beatrice Aragon Ortega Sanchez; two children, Sylvia Marie Sanchez and Sotero Roderico Raymundo Sanchez; two brothers, Albert Sanchez, and Canuto Ortega. He is survived by Ernest Sanchez and wife, Mary of Albuquerque, Orlando Sanchez and wife Sofia of Albuquerque, Ernestine Chavez of Hobbs, Joseph Sanchez of Albuquerque, Herman Sanchez and Magda of Albuquerque, Janet Dominguez and Ken of Albuquerque, June Ziegenfuss and husband Larry of Las Cruces, Juliette Dempsey and husband John of San Antonio, TX, Eugene Sanchez and wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque, Wife Erlinda M. Sanchez; and mother of his children Petra M Sanchez. Children are Eileen Gallegos and husband, Leroy of Puerto de Luna, Loretta Rael of Albuquerque, Victor C. Sanchez and wife Sandra of Rio Rancho, Verena Lopez and husband George of Santa Fe and Maxine Wheeless and husband Jim of Houston, TX; Two step-children, Ronald Dominguez of Kelseyville, Ca and Arno Dominguez and wife Mary Ann of Santa Cruz, CA; over 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge in Puerto de Luna, NM.
