Schmidt -- Anna Louise (Susie) Nee Hill, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, October 18, 1998. She was born on March 13, 1927 in St. Louis, MO to parents, John F. and Anna Hill. She is survived by her husband, Charles H.; sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bebber; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hill; her children, Charles H. Jr., Kathy Jane Reap, Charles and wife, Cynthia Sue Casey, Susan Ann Schmidt; grandchildren, Renee Ann Schmidt, Ryan F. Schmidt, Micah Paul Schmidt, Jacob John Schmidt, Shawn Reap, Ken Casey and Scott Casey. She was a past President of Albuquerque Assistance League, a hot air balloon pilot, and a loving mother and wife of over 50 years. Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary-University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Reverend Steve Hallstead officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Ryan Schmidt, Charles Schmidt, Jr., Charlie Casey, Steve Clapper, Scott Casey and Shawn Reap. Wagner -- Michael Thomas Wagner, infant son of Bob and Marla Wagner, died Friday, October 16, 1998. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Ben Wagner; maternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Breen of Oakley, CA, James and Linda McFarland of Las Cruces, NM; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Beverly Wagner of Lawrenceville, GA; great-grandparents, J.D. and Nona McFarland, Mary Sue Wagner, Hugh Fain, Frank and Mildred Jones. He is also survived by several special aunts and uncles, including Jim and Frances McFarland, Kyler and Brandi Breen, Rachel Breen. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in the Alameda Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 8812 2nd St. NW, with Michael Wade officiating. Aragon -- Eduardo"Eddie" Aragon, 73, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 15, 1998 at the Veterans Medical Center after a short bought with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; three sons, Felipe Aragon and wife, Jennie, Bobby Aragon and wife, Pat, Leslie Aragon and wife, Lupe; and son-in-law, Tracy Bennett; one daughter, LauriAnne Hernandez and husband, Rick; and his sister, Gertrude Moya and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Tina Aragon, Kim Ramirez, Charles Lopez, Jon Aragon and wife, Robin, Stephanie and husband, Rick, all of Albuquerque, Les Aragon, Jason and Robert Aragon of Santa Anna, CA, Joshua Hernandez, Brooke Hernandez of Albuquerque, Lacy and Travis Bennett of Quanah, TX. He also had five great-grandchildren, as well as many friends. His mother preceded him in death, Socorro Aragon; and his daughter, Elaine Bennett; sister and brother-in-law, Rufina Garley and Enrique Garley. Eddie served in the US Navy during WWII; he attended the Spanish/American Seminary. He was self-employed as an acoustic ceiling installer and was the best in his field. He also was a carpenter and held various offices in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He also recorded many albums and was an accomplished musician. He was a devoted father and put his family first. Pallbearers are Charles Lopez, Rick Hernandez, Jonathan Aragon, Leslie Aragon, Jason Aragon, Robert Aragon and Joshua Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Kimberly Ramirez, Tina Aragon, Lacy and Travis Bennett. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Northvalley Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4001 12th St. NW, with a Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the same church. Ponto -- Germa"Jean" Ponto, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 1998. She is survived by her sons, Bob Ponto and Edward Ponto of Albuquerque; daughter, Claudette Holton of Albuquerque; sisters, Lena Faustin of Hillboro, IL and Flora Donavan of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ponto. Jean was born in Morgantown, PA on May 12, 1907 to August and Asunta Morganti. Jean moved to New Mexico in 1940 and to Gallup in 1945. She was active in the Catholic Daughters, the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church, and Cathedral High School Booster Club. In Albuquerque, Jean was active in the Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Jean touched many lives and leaves behind hundreds of friends and will be missed. Services are pending. Luna -- James J. Luna, 80, passed away Saturday, October 17, 1998, after a brief illness. Mr. Luna was born in Albuquerque and spent most of his life here. He served in the US Army during WWII and was an active member of the American Legion Post 99. He was a retired sales manager. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine T. Luna; daughter, Yvonne Luna Lee; son-in-law, Peter L. Lee; and granddaughter, Lorrraine Lee of Santa Fe; brothers, Albert, Tony and Ray Luna; sisters, Molly Rothschild, Ceci Lucero, and Jenny Chaparro; many nephews and nieces; and two beloved cousins, Annabelle Griego and Rita Garley. Mr. Lunas was preceded in death by his son, J.J.; his parents; and brother, Solo; and sister, Lupe. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father Julian Rousseau, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Witkowski -- Charles C. Witkowski, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 22 years, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 1998. He came to New Mexico from Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Washington. Charles was born June 3, 1920, the son of Antony and Anna Gaska Witkowski in East Port Chester, Connecticut. Charles served in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator for 30 years, after he served in the Navy he then became a high school teacher. He was an active member in the Silver Eagles Association, served on the USS Hancock. Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley of Rio Rancho; six children, Charles C. Witkowski, Jr. of Mandeville, LA, John J. Witkowski of Alpharetta, GA, Robert E. Witkowski of Bernalillo, NM, Sharon W. Sullivan of Alexandria, VA, Paul E. Witkowski of Rio Rancho, and Toni L. Galbreath of Lansing, MI; one brother, Henry Witkowski of Byram, CT; and 11 grandchildren. A visitation will be held today, Sunday, October 18, 1998, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, October 19, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho with Msgr. Douglas Raun as the Celebrant. Walton -- Mary Kageorge Walton lived as a faithful member of the Catholic Church, student of life, and the hub of a sprawling family. Mary's professional career includes 20 years with American Automobile Association, most of which she served in Albuquerque. Her desire to actively learn more is best illustrated by her recent enrollment in Santa Clara University, where she was earning a Masters degree. Mary's birth 64 years ago (January 8, 1934) by Bruce and Erdine Davis of Roslyn Heights, New York, made their family of three complete. As a child she was active and academic. After obtaining her B.A. in Psychology from Seton Hill College, she moved to Northern Virginia and married Charles Kageorge, who died in 1974. She married Bruce Walton and continued raising an evergrowing family, which includes the William Kageorge family (daughter-in-law, Rebecca and grandsons, Jason and Edward); the Marjory Stanek family (son-in-law, Steve and grandsons, Josh, Jim and Jon); the Bruce Kageorge family (daughter-in-law, Ann and granddaughter, Nicole); John Kageorge (daughter-in-law, Kiran Grewal); Beth Kageorge (son-in-law, Pat Barlow); and Kenton Walton. Despite several victories, Mary quietly passed in her sleep October 16, following a battle with cancer. If you knew Mary, please join her family and friends for a memorial service on Monday, October 19, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Road NE. Whitener -- Charles Nishino Whitener, IV, age 11, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 1998. Charles was born July 6, 1987, the son of Charles and Reiko Nishino Whitener, III, in St. Louis, Missouri. Charles was a student of the Albuquerque Academy. He and his family came to New Mexico four years ago. Charles was preceded in death by his grandfather, Toshio Nishino of Japan. Charles was an accomplished violinist and he loved airplanes. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Reiko Whitener, III of Albuquerque; brother, Chad N. Whitener; sister, Chavonn N. Whitener, both of Albuquerque; grandparents, Charles Whitener and wife, Pat of St. Louis, MO, Lillian Whitener of St. Louis, MO, and Moto Nishino of Chiba, Japan. The visitation for Charles will be today, Friday, October 16, 1998, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Kane -- Prominent New Mexico Republican lobbyist, activist, dies at 66. Patricia Leurig Kane, 66, died September 29 in Albuquerque after a brief battle with cancer. A former executive director of both the Bernalillo County Republican Party (1974) and the Planned Parenthood Association of New Mexico Affiliates (1981-1986), Kane also was well-known in Santa Fe during the late 1980s and early 1990s as an effective lobbyist for reproductive choice. Born December 30, 1931 in London, England, Kane moved to New Mexico in 1950, where she attended University of New Mexico College of Business Administration and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She also attended Angelo State College in San Angelo, Texas, and in 1981, she attended the New Mexico Real Estate Institute. In 1973, Kane was appointed administrative assistant to the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners. In 1974, she was named executive director of the Bernalillo County Republican Party. She moved to California in 1976 and returned to Albuquerque in 1978 to become administrative assistant to the director of Northern New Mexico Emergency Services. In 1981, she was appointed executive director of the Planned Parenthood Association of New Mexico Affiliates. Upon retiring from that position in 1986, Kane became a founding member of the New Mexico branch of Republicans for Choice and later assumed the role of public affairs director for the Planned Parenthood Association of New Mexico Affiliates. She also was a member of the New Mexico Right to Choice board of directors. Kane lobbied extensively for the Planned Parenthood Association of New Mexico Affiliates and New Mexico Right to Choose in her post-retirement years. Kane is survived by her husband, David Fenton of Albuquerque; a son and daughter-in-law, Rich and Donna Leurig of Minneapolis, MN; three daughters and son-in-law, Karen Kane of Albuquerque, Margo Leurig of Marina del Rey, CA, and Kathy and Charles Holland of Rio Rancho; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Ann Fenton of Albuquerque; two step-daughters, Denise Fenton of Seattle, and Jennifer Miller of Colorado Springs; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Col. Charles and Phyllis Clark of Escondido, CA and Rufus and Averill Ivor of La Jolla, CA; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial donations to the Friends of Hospice at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, or to New Mexico Right to Choose. A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 16, at First Congregational Church at Lomas and Gerard in Albuquerque. The body has been cremated.
