Pappas -- Annie Virginia Hicks Pappas, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away in her sleep on the morning of January 5, 1999. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with the Reverend Chuck Collins officiating. Philgreen -- Floyd A. Philgreen, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away in a local nursing home Tuesday, December 29, 1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth E. Philgreen of the family home; one daughter, Linda E. Philgreen, Shown, KS; two step-sons, Thomas Snook and wife, Rose Fehr, Tijeras, NM, and Herbert Snook; two sisters, Lillian Van Arsdale and husband, John, Lawson, MO, and Eunice M. Martin and husband, Gorby, Shawnee, KS; one brother, Edward Philgreen and wife, Pauline, Washington, IA. He was the world's greatest grandfather to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, worked with the Boy Scouts, was a Scout Master of the District Committee and Institutional Representative of the Eagle Scouts since 1934. He was a member of the Desert Swingers Square Dancing Club and of the Presbyterian Auxiliary Health Care. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 9, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. James Massey officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will be in Sandia Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver Ave. SE. Pierce -- Maxine Pierce, 65, died Sunday, December 27, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born July 27, 1933 in Ragland, Alabama. Maxine was Administrative Assistant at UNM College of Pharmacy 20 years, retiring in 1991. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd W. Pierce of Las Vegas; two sons, Michael of Hobbs,NM and Ronald of Woodridge, IL; seven grandchildren; one sister, Christine Turner Yeater of Albuquerque; three brothers, Edward Jones of Garden Grove, CA, Woodrow Jones of Westminister, CA, and Jerry Jones of Albuquerque. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, December 30, 1998 in Las Vegas.

Porras -- Rico Porras, 22, passed away December 30, 1998. He was born in Denver, CO on February 23, 1976. He is survived by his loving family, parents, Alfredo and Shirley Porras; brother, Eric Porras; sister, Aleena Porras; half-sister, Danielle Call; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Porras, Mr. and Mrs. Cooney; aunts, Teresa and Mary and Velia Porras, Catherine McGuire; uncles, Rick and Hector Porras, Terry McGuire, Sr.; cousins, Amy and Angie Porras, Terry, Jr. and Sean McGuire. He was an employee of Coca-Cola of Albuquerque. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, Pastor E. Leonard Gillingham officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held at the church following the funeral. Ranyan -- Martha Ranyan, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Tuesday, January 5, 1999. She is survived by her children, Roberta L. Ranyan-Dowe and husband, James W. Dowe III of Albuquerque and John Michael Ranyan and wife, Diane of Grand Junction, CO; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin S. Ranyan in July 1998. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and private scattering will be held at a later date. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Reynolds -- Elizabeth DoBell Reynolds, 83, born October 16, 1915, passed away on January 6, 1999. Her sweet and loving nature enriched the lives of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Elizabeth (Liz) lived a life of faith in God. Her deep faith carried her through the loss of two husbands, William E. DoBell and John P. Reynolds; and four children, John Reynolds, Mark Reynolds, Jeff Reynolds, and Bill DoBell. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas K.D. and Laura Edwards Maddison; grandson, Brian Niggel; brother, Leroy Maddison; sisters, Gladys Biggs, Laura Peer, Dorothy Maddison and Mary Gray. In spite of the passing of these wonderful family members, her relationship with the Lord enabled her to keep smiling and giving love that sprang from His unending source. Her father was born in England and settled in Albuquerque where she and her siblings were born. He became a prominent lawyer and an influential influence in early Albuquerque. Elizabeth graduated from Albuquerque High School and married immediately after graduation. She is survived by sons, Tim Reynolds of Cedar Crest, NM, James Reynolds of Albuquerque, Rod Reynolds and wife, Elizabeth of Ohio, and Stephen DoBell and wife, Joanne Carlsson of Seattle, WA; daughters, Patricia Miller, Patricia Archibeck and husband, Ron, Antoinette Niggel and husband, Keith, Elizabeth Heise and husband, Richard, all of Albuquerque, RoseMary Martin and husband, Tom of Rio Communities, Belen, Barbara Trybul of Virginia, Celinda Kaelin and husband, Harold of Colorado; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and very special friend and sister-in-law, Genevieve DoBell Ruttle. Thank you seems inadequate, but the family appreciates very much the excellent care afforded and love shown Elizabeth at Sandia Manor Care facility on Juan Tabo...and God Bless you all! Simons -- Katherine Gauss Simons, daughter of Anna Gauss and Arthur Clyde Simons, was born August 23, 1907 and died January 4, 1999. She is survived by cousins, Gordon Gauss and wife of Denver, CO, Robert Hook and family of Wapello, IA, and Barbara Hook Montgomery of Minneapolis, MN and family. Katherine grew up in Shenandoah, IA, graduated from Grinnell College, and received her MA degree from Columbia at Columbia. She also completed her Doctoral work (minus dissertation). She began teaching at UNM in 1939. Her primary field was Renaissance Literature. She was much involved with the General Honors program, in 1968, she became a full professor and retired in 1973. Katherine's family, students and friends revere, love and will miss her. Services are to be held at the UNM Alumni Memorial Chapel, Monday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial may be directed to the"Fund for General Honors" in memory of Katherine Simons and sent to the UNM Foundation Hall, Albuquerque, NM 87131. Storer -- Diana Cristofori Storer, 71, a longtime resident of Liberty, NY and a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died Saturday, January 2, 1999, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her children, John Storer and wife, Mary, Kathy Helin and husband, Barry, Jim Storer, all of Albuquerque and Kenneth T. Storer of Harris, NY; seven grandchildren, Terry Storer and wife, Cindy of Woodbourne, NY, Toby Storer and wife, Tonya of Pompano Beach, FL, Tracy Russell and husband, Steve of Lighthouse Point, FL, Kirsten Cobb and husband, Eric of Albuquerque, Erik Helin of Muncie, IN and Vincent and Alicia Storer of Albuquerque; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Storer of Woodbourne, NY and Tucker Gage Storer of Pompano Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth j. Storer in 1997. Prior to her illness, Diana was very active with the Hug-A-Bear program through the Telephone Pioneers of America. She will be remembered by family and friends as a great listener and confidant. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Quintin Pacheco reciting. Mass will be celebrated, Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Father Michael Cimino officiating. Swain -- Jeanne M. Swain, loving mother, daughter and grandmother, age 71, passed away January 4, 1999 in Tucson, AZ after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 19, 1927 in Green Camp, Ohio, she moved to Albuquerque in 1961. She loved the Land of Enchantment. In the 60s, she was active in local theatre, including the Corrales Adobe Theatre and Albuquerque Little Theatre. She was a pioneer in the film industry in New Mexico, becoming the first screen actors guild-franchised agent in the state. Her compassion for actors and love of the arts were an inspiration to many people. She had served as Public Relations Director at the University of Albuquerque and as Film Commissioner for the City of Albuquerque. After retirement she divided her time between Albuquerque and Tucson and dedicated herself to geneology, writing, and world travel. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Orie J. Mossbarger; and her step-father, Howard C. Rathburn. She is survived by her son, Alan D. Swain IV of Albuquerque; daughter, Sandra J. Rodriguez, son-in-law, Michael, and granddaughter, Eva of Westminster, CO; and mother, Grace E. Rathburn of Tucson, AZ. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 1999 at South Lawn Mortuary, 5401 S. Park, Tucson, AZ. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11, 1999 at St. John Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Our Mother was a very special person and was loved by family and friends around the world. Tomlinson -- Peggy Tomlinson, 78, a former resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 31, 1998 in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Tomlinson and wife, Celia of Albuquerque, Joseph Tomlinson and wife, Bertha of Tucson, AZ, Michael Tomlinson and wife, Jan of Los Alamos, NM, and Gary Hubbard and wife, Mickie of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia Towsley and husband, Earl of Visallia, CA; sister, Pat Renault and husband, George of Arlington, VA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Tomlinson. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, 9:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Frank See officiating.
