Madrid -- Madge B. Madrid died Sunday, January 3, 1999. She was the loving wife of Charles Madrid III and the affectionate mother of one daughter, Samantha, whose name she chose. Madge was loved by many and will be terribly missed by her mom, Bernice, her father, Joe; and her three sisters, Gwen, Patty Joe and Joanie. Her precious nieces, Shawna, Mandy, Jennifer and Beth; and nephews, Bryan, James, Jace and David will miss her as well. Her joyful personality and her beautiful smile will never leave us. Although we pray for one more heartbeat we know her true comfort lies in you, Lord. Matthew 11:28-30. Mcwhirt -- Mrs. Jennie McWhirt, 79, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 8, 1999. Mrs. McWhirt is the beloved mother of one daughter, Emilia Romero. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18, great-grandchildren, on one great-greatchild; one brother, Procopio Gallegos and wife, Stella; a long life loving companion Bennie Rivera; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McWhirt and sons, Julian and Gilbert Romero. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with visitation after 6:30 p.m. at the church. Private disposition of cremains will take place. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd, SW in charge of arrangements.

Mooneyhan -- Viletta Alfretta (Peggy) Mooneyhan, nee Crowley, 84, passed away January 7, 1999 in Albuquerque. She was born December 3, 1914 in Brookfield, MO. She was the seventh of eight children born to the union of Henry A. Crowley and Susan A. Wombwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. Surviving is her husband, William; daughters, Alice Hazen and Janice Johnson; a sister, Mary Smith; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be sent to the Alzheimers Assn., New Mexico Chapter, 1330 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Padilla -- Nick P. Padilla, 91, died Thursday, January 7, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Libby Padilla of Albuquerque; son, Lee L. Padilla and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Fillie Padilla of Albuquerque and Lucy Leight of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children, Connie, Luis, Nick, Gilbert, Candido, Luis Nick, Leo, Rosie, and Librandita. He was born in Albuquerque and returned to the area in 1978. Mr. Padilla was a lift truck operator for the lumber industry in California for many years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union. Entombment will take place Monday, 12:00 noon, at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Ranyan -- Martha Ranyan, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Tuesday, January 5, 1999. She is survived by her children, Roberta L. Ranyan-Dowe and husband, James W. Dowe III of Albuquerque and John Michael Ranyan and wife, Diane of Grand Junction, CO; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin S. Ranyan in July 1998. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and private scattering will be held at a later date. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Reuter -- Dorothy L. Reuter, 83, passed away in the early hours of January 8, 1999 after a protracted battle with Lymphoma. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she settled in Chicago, Illinois and worked for A.B. Dick and Co. in accounting. She retired in 1980 after 25 years of service and moved to Albuquerque in 1993. Mrs. Reuter is survived by her brother, Richard F. Lenk of Nevada; her daughter, Martha Reuter of Albuquerque; her son, Phillip Reuter of California. In addition she is survived by four granddaughters, Elizabeth Reuter of Albuquerque, Erika DeGraff of Texas, Laura Pitman of Virginia, and Michelle Reuter of New Jersey. Saavedra -- Mrs. Florentia A. Saavedra, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 1, 1999. Mrs. Saavedra is survived by her daughters, Cecelia Vigil, Martha Ramirez and Maria C. Torrez; three sons, Robert Saavedra and wife, Placida, Fernandez A. Saavedra and wife, Irene and Marcelino Saavedra; 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Saavedra was a member of The Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with Visitation at the church after 3:30 p.m. Gabriella Nieto will recite the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Monsignor Joaquin Bazan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at San Jose De Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ernie Saavedra, Pablo Torrez, David Ramirez, Nick Saavedra, Eugene Vigil and Willie Ray Vigil. Swain -- Jeanne M. Swain, loving mother, daughter and grandmother, age 71, passed away January 4, 1999 in Tucson, AZ after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 19, 1927 in Green Camp, Ohio, she moved to Albuquerque in 1961. She loved the Land of Enchantment. In the 60s, she was active in local theatre, including the Corrales Adobe Theatre and Albuquerque Little Theatre. She was a pioneer in the film industry in New Mexico, becoming the first screen actors guild-franchised agent in the state. Her compassion for actors and love of the arts were an inspiration to many people. She had served as Public Relations Director at the University of Albuquerque and as Film Commissioner for the City of Albuquerque. After retirement she divided her time between Albuquerque and Tucson and dedicated herself to geneology, writing, and world travel. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Orie J. Mossbarger; and her step-father, Howard C. Rathburn. She is survived by her son, Alan D. Swain IV of Albuquerque; daughter, Sandra J. Rodriguez, son-in-law, Michael, and granddaughter, Eva of Westminster, CO; and mother, Grace E. Rathburn of Tucson, AZ. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 1999 at South Lawn Mortuary, 5401 S. Park, Tucson, AZ. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11, 1999 at St. John Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Our Mother was a very special person and was loved by family and friends around the world. Thompson -- Donald"Don" A. Thompson, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died on Wednesday, January 6, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dottie Thompson of the family home; children, Donald Thompson and wife, Francesca of Mt. Vernon, IA, Ronnie Thompson and wife, Lucy, and Tammy Edwards and husband, Terry, all of Collinsville, IL; step-daughters, Diana Buxton, Alice Davis and husband, Lyle, all of Albuquerque, and Sharon Wilson and husband, David of Tijeras, NM; grandchildren, Alex and Ethan Thompson, Karla Russell, Becky Thompson, Jennifer and Kelly Belaco, Leslie Rodgers, Vanessa and Adrienne Vineyard, Zachary Edwards, Erin and Brianne Edwards, Darius Upshaw, and Janell Upshaw; five great-grandchildren; brother, Clyde Thompson and wife, Mary of St. Peters, MO; sisters, Gladys Loeffler and husband, Gene of Marthasville, MO, and Verta Wall and husband, Lee Roy of St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Vineyard; and sister, Josie. He was born in Dixon, MO in 1926 and served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a long distance truck driver for 38 years and retired in 1988. He was a member of Mesa Lodge #68, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite of Santa Fe, Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Legion of Honor, and the VFW Lodge #401. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved and respected by his entire family, who will greatly miss him. Services will be held Sunday, January 10, 1999, 3:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles officiating. Interment will take place Monday, 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Toliver -- Barbara Anne (O'Reilly) Toliver, 76, born November 24, 1922, passed away January 7, 1999 at her home in Belen. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lee; daughter, Peggy Anne Keller and husband, Jim of Los Lunas; son, Michael Edward Toliver and wife, Peg and granddaughter, Colleen Toliver of Eureka, IL; brother, Edward (Ned) J. O'Reilly and wife, Phyllis of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, Charles Picek; sister-in-law, Billie (Toliver) Roessler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward A. O'Reilly and Anne E. (Poupore) O'Reilly; and sister, Margaret (O'Reilly) Picek. Barbara was born in Lawton, OK, went to High School in Oklahoma City, OK. She attended the University of Oklahoma a year and a half where she met and married her husband. During WWII she worked at an Oklahoma City newspaper. In 1946 she came to Los Alamos, NM then spent a year at Ohio State University and returned to Albuquerque in 1947. She moved to Belen in 1981. Barbara had many artistic talents: painting, scissor cutting, decorating and cooking. She enjoyed raising her children and loved birdwatching, music and literature, including westerns and mysteries. At her request, there will be no formal funeral services. After cremation, interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
