HUGGLER, BETTY Age 86, died in Rochester, MN on March 9, 2015 after a short illness. Rose Elizabeth Maria Ternus was born on January 4, 1929 in Humphrey, NE to Conrad and Anna (Eckholt) Ternus. She attended Humphrey St. Francis Schools. On June 29, 1957, she married LaMonte Huggler at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, NE. They lived in Albuquerque, NM where Betty was a district manager at Oshman's Sporting Goods. After retirement, she enjoyed needlepoint and golf. She moved to Rochester in 2012. Betty is survived by her sister Stella Schultz, Galesburg, IL and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers William, Francis, Victor, Raymond, Donald, Edwin and Paul; and sisters Margaret, Anna Mae (Jaixen), Regina (Jansen), Evelyn (Loseke) and Thelma (Lloyd). ALBERTS, HERBERT L. Korean War veteran Herbert Alberts, Jr. passed away on February 20, 2015. Born in Worcester, MA on July 10, 1932, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Alberts; his parents, Herbert Alberts, Sr., and wife, Virginia; his son, Herbert Alberts, Jr.; his nieces, Becky and Aletha Davis; his daughter, Pauline Serna, and husband, Robert, and his grandsons, Thomas Peters and Daniel Morales. He is survived by his brother, Donald Alberts, and wife, Shirley; his daughter, Cora Lee Mohamed; grandchildren, Marie Mohamed, and Kenny McCarthy; daughters, Judy Steel and Nikki Peters; son, Carl Thompson, and wife, Rhonda; 13 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. CRUZ, HILDA G. On February 21, 2015, the Lord peacefully took Hilda G. Cruz from this earth. She was greeted with open arms into Heaven by her loving husband, Paul J. Cruz, her parents Jose and Isabel Gutierrez, grandson Aaron Acevedo, son-in-law Douglas Kawcak and many other relatives and friends who preceded her in death. Hilda's journey began in Rowe, NM, where she was born on May 19, 1930. She graduated from El Rito HS and set her sights on the big city - Albuquerque. That's where she met and married the love of her life, Paul. Together they owned and operated several successful businesses including El Comedor De Cruz, Little Anita's bar in Albuquerque and El Nido Restaurant /Bar in Los Chavez. After much success in the restaurant business, she followed her true passion and became a very successful Realtor/Broker and established yet another business, Casa Del Sol Realty. She was a businesswoman with a heart, and made a point to put people before profits, often helping others find homes or business deals they would not have been able to without her. Hilda followed her mother's footsteps in being a woman ahead of her time. She did not believe in barriers for working women and always being the best at what she did. . Aside from her professional accomplishments, Hilda was widely known as a fashionista and "Hat Lady," because of her impressive collection of hats and elegant, classic style. With all that she did, she was a wonderful mother and Nana, who lived by honesty, hard work, integrity, love and respect. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Sabrina Kawcak, Paul Jr. and wife Veronica, Merlinda Acevedo and husband Art, Donald and wife Lori; siblings Carlos Gutierrez, Connie Francis, Gloria Otero and husband Max, and Joe Gutierrez; sister-in-law Ada Kozlowski; grandsons, Dominic, Paul, Chris, and Donald; granddaughters Alix and Taylor; great-grandson Jacen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. MEYER, KATHRYN A. (KAY) Passed away on February 12, 2015. Kay and her husband, Robert W. (Bob) Meyer, moved to Albuquerque, NM from Illinois in 1972. She accepted a position at the University of New Mexico and Bob continued his studies for his Ph.D. Bob, the love of her life, passed away in 1983 after 35 years of marriage. Kay continued working at UNM until she retired from her position as Academic Administrator of the School of Engineering in 1995. After she retired, Kay remained in Albuquerque and continued to brighten the lives of those around her. She loved people and was loving and generous to her family and friends. Her little dog Schatsie, adopted from the animal shelter, was the highlight of her life. Kay gave freely of her time and her love to all who knew her. She also volunteered at Casa Angelica to help care for those unfortunate little ones who needed someone to love them. In addition to Bob, Kay was preceded in death by her brother Tommy and her parents, Thomas and Corinne Miller of Illinois; brother-in-law Donald Meyer, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Patricia Meyer) McDonough. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George (Phyllis) Burdette of Peoria, IL, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Josephine) Meyer, and sister-in-law, Ruth Meyer. Kay left behind a wealth of nieces and nephews (58) whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her Albuquerque "adopted" family and her many friends at the Villa Apartments where she resided for over 30 years. MOYA, JACOBO "JACK" 1924-2015 Jacobo "Jack" Moya, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Jack graduated from Belen Schools and was a graduate from Harvard University. He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus in Albuquerque, the Knights of Columbus and also very active in church and the community. Jack worked for the Belen Railroad and also for the America Center for International Labor Solidarity/ ALFCIO for many years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Henita Moya; daughter, Susan Moya Baca; grandsons, Ivan Torres and Daniel Torres; wife, Lee Moya; son-in-law, Pete Stracener; and brothers and sisters. Jack is survived by his daughters, Maryann Stracener, Frances Castillo and husband, Dimas, Helen Chavez and husband, Johnny; sons, Alex Romero and Albert Romero; sisters, Nancy Chavez and husband, Simon, Mary Rose Archuleta and husband, Joe; brothers, Rubin Moya and wife, Ester; 22 grandchildren; 34 great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, February 20th beginning with a Viewing at 11:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 12:30 p.m. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Donald Sanchez, Allen Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Steven Moya, Christopher Romero and Vanessa Chavez.
