CHAVEZ, LEE E. Age 87, returned to our Heavenly Father Saturday, February 28, 2015. He was born in Pino Wells, New Mexico. Lee enlisted in the Army in July 1945, awarded with a World War II Victory Medal. Lee leaves to cherish his memories his wife Virginia, sons; James Lee, Armando Rene J, Ramiro J, and Felix, daughter Gloria, brothers; Lorenzo and Herculano, sisters; Ramona, Helen and Juanita, lots of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives. A Rosary will be recited Monday March 9, 2015. 9:30 am followed by Mass at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 5303 Phoenix Ave. NE. PIKE, BRUCE born on June 15, 1929 in Portales, NM and passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the VA Hospital after a long illness. Bruce grew up in Belen and Clovis. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Badoeng Strait where he was stationed on Guam. Bruce moved to Albuquerque in 1958 to operate a Livestock Auction, where he ranched and traded livestock. He roped calves and team roped for many years professionally and locally. Bruce Piloted his own plane for many years and loved to play golf. As well, he gave his time and experience as a director for NMJRA and NMHSRA. Bruce loved having his family and friends visit. He was preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Dorthy Pike; sister, Fawnette Ingram and baby granddaughter, Tasha Pike. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nina; son, Stewart; daughter, Sabrina; grandson, Nick; granddaughter, Tara; several nephews, a niece as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 9 Los Chavez Park Rd. Belen, NM on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM with U.S. Navy honors. Private family Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later time. The family would like to especially thank the VA Medical Center, Doctors, Nurses and staff for their wonderful care and concern for Bruce and his family over the last several weeks. CHAVEZ, VIRGINIA GRACE MARES is now at peace with our Dear Lord after a lengthy illness. Virginia is preceded in death by her daughter Velma Chavez, son Larry Chavez, and granddaughter Natalie Chavez-Lefthand. RAND, RUBY J. It is with our deepest sympathy to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruby J. Rand, affectionately known as "NaNa" passed on February 28 at the family home. Ruby was born in Clarksville Texas, and later her and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico were they resided for over sixty years. She could always be found caring for the elderly and sheltering the homeless. Ruby owned and operated La Rue's Beauty Shop for over fifty-five years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church until her passing. She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Patricia Banks, Renee Wilson, Kim Anthony, three sons, Joseph Banks, Phillip Banks, and Bernard Foster, 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children, nephews, nieces and other relatives. CHAVEZ, EQUILDA L. age 72, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM and a lifelong member of Los Padillas, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2015. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Fred; children, Joseph M. Chavez and wife, Geri, Fred Anthony, Rebecca C. Ortega, and Elizabeth L. Chavez; sister, Demecia Sanchez and husband, Leo; grandchildren, Richard Chavez, Jaclynn Chavez, Anastacia Madrid, Andre Madrid, Channing Chavez, David Chavez, Christopher Chavez, Riley Chavez, Tamara Madrid, Julia Chavez, Levi Chavez, Olivia Chavez, Estevan Madrid, Paloma Ortega, Carmen Ortega, Avelino Chavez, and Monica Chavez; great-grandson, Anykin Madrid; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Chavez; parents, Magdaleno and Andrea P. Chavez; brother, Frank Chavez. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church, past member of the Legion of Mary, countless hours as a volunteer at the Dominican Retreat House, and a lifelong member of the Miraculous Medal Association. MARTIN, OLIVIA C. Olivia C. Martin, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Olivia was born in Veguita, New Mexico to Soloman and Nemecia Chavez. She is survived by her sons, Gary K. Martin and wife, Kari, and Karl A. Martin and wife, Anna Marie; grandchildren, Emily, Catrina, Sarah, Jenny, Irene, Gus, Karlina, Curtis and Marissa; great-grandchildren, Mia and Landon, and her sisters, Rachel Chavez and Priscilla Griego. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Soloman Chavez. Olivia retired from the Kinney Agency Insurance Company and has been a faithful member of El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful, kind, generous and loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. We will miss you "Grandma O."
