Obituary for Rise

Carl Rise, a prominent lumberman and wood moulding manufacturer, died peacefully early Sunday morning, April 22, 2001, in the arms of his beloved wife, Vara. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and so much more. He gave unselfishly and shared his wisdom with so many and was always willing to teach. Education was a top priority for Carl, and he personally assisted several to advance their studies for college degrees. He received a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State and a Master's degree from Syracuse, New York in forestry, which led him to become the founder of Best Moulding Corp. in 1947. He made the company flourish and continues to employ 60 to 70 employees. Being a fair businessman, it brought him to earn the highest respect and admiration in the community. Carl was born in Rapid City, SD and settled in Albuquerque in 1945. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Helen McCauley from California. He is survived by his wife, Vara; sister, Betty Haulsey; brother Gerald, both from California; two sons, Joe and wife, Kathy and John and wife, Karen; three step-sons, Steve and wife, Patty, Gordon and wife, Rena Marlowe and Frank and wife, Helen DeMott; and many grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Father Brian Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
