Obituary for Davis

Mrs. Melanie Crane Davis, age 37, died of breast cancer on November 30, 2001. God is with us and she is with God. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, at 10:am at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, Dr. Harvey West officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2pm until 4pm and 7pm until 9pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA. Melanie was born in Louisville, KY on March 18, 1964 to Jim and Juna Crane. Melanie was Corporate Counsel for Georgia Gulf Corporation. From 1994 through 2000 she was in House Counsel and Operations Manager for The Powell Group, Inc., of Baton Rouge, LA. She was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals from 1991 through 1994. Melanie earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from Louisiana State University in 1991. She was a member of the Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma Bar Association and Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity. Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and French from Centenary College, Shreveport, LA in 1986 where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and the world famous Centenary Choir. She was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Melanie is survived by her husband, Douglas Davis of Chamlee; her parents, Jim and Juna Crane of Duluth; her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, Melissa (Missy), David, and Penn Worden of Atlanta; her grandmother, Gladys Golden of Duluth; Doug's parents, Bud and Polly Davis of Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the AVON Breast Cancer 3-Day Atlanta 2002.
