Obituary for Artiaga

Mr. Napoleon S. Artiaga, 82, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico passed away on November 23, 2001. Mr. Artiaga is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Eileen) Torrez and husband Steve and Carolyn (Carrie) Geyer and husband Gerry of Colorado Spring, CO.; one son Sal Artiaga and wife Susie of Tampa, FL.; six grandchildren, Mike, Jeanne and husband Bill, T.J., Airin, Carlos and Roberto; one sister, Carmelita Jaramillo. He is preceded in death by his wife, Flora, July 2001. Mr. Artiaga was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He received the Purple Heart, Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Service Star Good Conduct Medal and was the past Post Commander of Post #9676. A Rosary was recited Sunday evening. A final visitation will be Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 noon by Father Rick Zerwas. Interment will follow at the San Clemente Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be, Nick Balido, Mike Artiaga, Carlos Torrez, Roberto Torrez, Gerry Geyer, Don Leach, Leon Jaramillo and Rick Tennison. Honorary Pallbearers will be the VFW Post 9676. Flowers may be directed to Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Monetary contributions may be made to the San Clemente Building Fund, 224 Luna Ave., Los Lunas, N.M. 87031.
