Obituary for Garde

Mauricio Garde, Jr., age 78, passed away December 13, 2001 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Mauricio was born May 25, 1923 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Mauricio and Emila Marcilla Garde. After graduating from Vaughn High School, Mauricio attended New Mexico State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He ranched cattle and sheep in the Vaughn area for many years. Mauricio was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, the Cattle Growers Association, Wool Growers Association, and the American Legion Post 0053. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sisters, Mariana Garde, Emilia Garcia, Alfonso Garde and Ines Alvarez. Survivors include his two sisters, Susie Hindi and husband, Brahaim of Duran, NM, Helen Lewis and husband, Wesley of Vaughn and his brother, Raymond Garde and wife, Phyliss of Espanola, NM. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at the Garde Family home (10th and Walnut) in Vaughn on Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening also from the Garde Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn with Father John Jasinski officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers will be Brahaim Hindi, Jr., Jamil Hindi, Isidoro Manzanarez, Victor Garde, Joe Garde, Tom Garde, Ramon Alvarez., Joe Alvarez, Orlando Garcia, and Jaime Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Emilio Torrez, Richard Gonzales, Armando Panebouef, Ray Gallegos, Leandro Abeyta, Frank Marcilla, Jaime Marcilla, Tony Romo and Pat Maes.
