Modesta M. Valencia, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Sunday, May 20, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Ursula Leyba and husband, Leo, Dianna Brown, Bernice Valencia, Barbara Valencia, Kathleen Valencia, all of Albuquerque and Dolores Harkins and husband, Robert of Arlington, VA; sons, Leon J. Valencia and wife, Anita and Joel Valencia, both of Los Lunas; granddaughters, Debora M. Quintana and husband, Harold, Michelle Wall and husband, James and Jolene Valencia; grandsons, George K. Brown, Daniel J. Brown and wife, Lisa and Jody Valencia, all of Albuquerque; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Martinez and wife, Julia of Albuquerque; sister, Celia Martinez of Palm Springs, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben F. Valencia; and grandson, Christopher Valencia. Services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Leon Valencia, Joel Valencia, Leo Leyba, George K. Brown, Daniel J. Brown, Jody Valencia and Robert S. Harkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Wall and Harold Quintana.
