Obituary for Scholes

Rev. William E. Scholes, age 84, born November 2, 1916, died May 7, 2001. Bill Scholes is survived by his wife, June Scholes; daughters, Karen and Jean; and sons, Ed and Keith. Bill was a minister and social worker who dedicated his life to making the world a better place for others. Born in Pawtucket, RI, Bill received his B.A. from Brown University, 1938; M.S.W. from Columbia University, 1940; and M.DIV from McCormick Presbyterian Theological Seminary, 1947. He was Director of Christopher House in Chicago. He then served as Western Field Director of Migrant and Indian Ministries for the National council of Churches and as Director for World Relief and Refugee Programs, Program Agency, Presbyterian Church, USA. Bill also served as Pastor for the Mountain Ministry Parish at Nogal, Ancho and Corona, NM before his retirement in 1980. His active retirement included five interim Pastoral appointments with Presbyterian Churches in Albuquerque, Roswell and Ruidoso, NM. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, on July 28, 2001, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, Colorado and Madison, Pasadena, CA.
