Obituary for Tolmie

Helen Marie Tolmie, née Stonecypher, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the age of 91. She was born in York, Nebraska in 1909, and settled in Albuquerque in 1951 when her husband, John Tolmie, started his career at Sandia National Laboratories. Helen has been a long-time resident of La Vida Llena retirement community in Albuquerque, remaining there after John's death in 1989. She is survived by her son, Don Tolmie and daughter-in-law, Sandra Tolmie of Los Alamos; her daughter, Patricia Newman and son-in-law, Wallace Newman of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, John Newman, Karen Martin, James Newman, Mark Newman, Debra Huling and David Tolmie; six great-grandchildren; a niece and three nephews; and many special friends. Services will be held Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at La Vida Llena Carter Hall, 10501 Lagrima De Oro NE, with Rev. Norton Scrimshire officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that her friends keep her memory alive by donating in her name to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas NE, 87110 or to a charity of their choice.
