Helen B. Perry passed away July 19, 2001. Helen was born August 17, 1921 in Greensboro, North Carolina to William L. Brande and Julia Sutton Brande. She was raised and educated in North Carolina. She met Elbert D. Perry and they were married on August 14, 1943 in Florence, South Carolina. They moved to the southwest in the early 1950's. The came to Carlsbad on June 1, 1971 from Belen, New Mexico where Helen had been employed with the newspaper. Helen was employed as a sales person with J.C. Penny for 10 years before her retirement. She loved to garden and was a very active member of Blodgett Baptist Church. Helen was preceded in death by her husband on December 4, 1997. Helen is survived by her sons, John Michael Perry and Mark David Perry, both of Carlsbad; daughter, Penny Perry Lloyd of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Louie Brande, Robert Brande, Clarence Brande, all of Greensboro, North Carolina and Ralph Brande of Arlington, Virginia; sisters; Margaret Brande Smith of Greensboro, North Carolina and Betty Moore of Danville, Virginia; three grandchildren. Funeral Services for Helen B. Perry will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2001 at West Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brad Reimers of Blodgett Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memory Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday till service time at West Funeral Home. Pallbearers are: John Allen, Paul Creek, Don Suggs, Mark Crow, Sonny Muncrief, and Tom Burt.
