Obituary for Davis

Velma Jane Davis, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, October 22, 2001. Velma was born in Nelson, Missouri on May 3, 1923. In 1942, she was married to her husband, Millard H."Johnny" Davis in Alton, Illinois. Velma and Millard moved to Albuquerque in the summer of 1952 where they raised their two children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard; brothers, Perry and Raymond Cornine; and sisters, Leta Butler and Della Mae Johnson. She is survived by her two sisters, Josephine Robinson and Helen Clark of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, James Perry and Larry Edward Davis of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Velma attended Heights Christian Church here in Albuquerque. She loved her little Chihuahua"Tiny", spending time with her family, and watching a good movie. She will be greatly missed and always loved. A viewing will be held at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001. A Memorial Service will be held at Heights Christian Church 6935 Comanche NE at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2001 followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Davis, Larry Davis, Rick Davis, Neil Davis, Matt Davis, Chris Davis, and Brian Smith.
